The answer from him came deformed and distorted as if something interfered. I pushed him out of my head and focused on the silhouette of Selene who moved with impressive agility. My body protested, I ignored it running at the full speed.
Selene reached the exit into the supernaturals part of the academy. I’ve never been here and the bright, colorful and full of happiness decorations gave me pause.
Everything here was destroyed. Some walls looked as if something had clawed at them. Could it be the same thing that messed up the library?
“Stay close to me,” Selene commanded.
Luckily there were no bodies, though floor, ceiling, and walls were splashed with red. I hope it isn’t blood. Somewhere here were Simona and Rust. If something happened to them. Elleria, I’ll chase you to the end of the world.
Another explosion was closer. There were screaming and a roar.
Selene darted in that direction. I followed her.
We’d heard the fight long before we saw it. I sensed Watermane and Elleria behind the corner. Selene slowed down. I wanted to burst in the corridor and bang them in their stupid heads. But an unnaturally strong arm stopped me in place.
Wait. They aren’t alone. There is another infernal beast with them, Selene said in my mind.
“You have nowhere to run, little dragon,” Watermane shouted, then she added louder, “everyone, get out of here. Return to your emergency zone. Quick.”
“Dragons will rule this world once more,” Elleria’s voice was seductive. She spoke quietly and yet, it drenched my heart with clarity. A vision of a better, fairer world. A place where dragons could have their emotions. “Come, kill me, elemental, do what your brethren know best.”
Selene’s reaction was instantaneous. She got into the corridor before Watermane made her move. It took me a long second to react.
This corridor was scorched and scarred by fissures. In the middle, one more corridor turned right. One supernatural darted there as I walked into the main one. On the far end stood Elleria with a beast made of flames. It had a posture of a gorilla but its body burned. Its nostrils sniffed and its eyes met mine. Some part of me knew the beast. Its soul has been forged by a Titan.
It growled at me.
Elleria smiled.
“Did you leave Lotian to his death?”
“Shut up, bitch,” I hissed.
Watermane and Selene watched each other very closely. Was the Head of the Elemental House a foe or a friend?
“If you came here to stop me, then go ahead…”
I didn’t wait for her to finish the sentence, I rushed toward her. Some shouts came from behind. I didn’t care. As I came within twenty feet of Elleria, the infernal beast shot toward me.
Its muscular arms materialized with a speed of light above me. I had no time for reaction. My body moved purely on its own. My forearms went up to intercept his blow.
Gasps sounded throughout the corridor. I felt no impact.
I felt nothing.
His arms clawed through me as if I was made of nothing. Did it kill me? Only my soul didn’t know that I was dead? No. It wasn’t that.
I looked up and found pure amazement and puzzlement on the beast’s horrid face. Its too intelligent eyes measured me and it roared.
“This can’t be…” Elleria voice sounded in jittery. “She’s a dragoness… but this.”
It turned out this single moment decided the battle. A spear of water appeared in Elleria’s shoulder. A second later hundred more spears of water shot toward the infernal beast. It fended them, but Watermane quickly overwhelmed him and the flames disappeared in the cocoon of water. The sphere got smaller and smaller until it winked out of existence. With it the beast.
Elleria’s mouth opened but filled with water. Selene’s hand fell on Elleria’s forehead and the time seemed to slow down. Echoes of the unicornic spell resonated in the air. Selene put Elleria into a deep sleep.
Watermane turned toward me. Her absurd bronze outfit still on her. I sensed that a barrage of words settled in her mouth ready to burst out. She said nothing.
Rosa Watermane left.
“What now?” I asked.
Selene finished weaving the spell. She looked at me. Her eyes distant. Something inside them spoke of troubles ahead.
“It would be best if you get back to your dorm room. We’ll take it from here.”
Was she for real?
“I won’t go anywhere until I know my friends are safe.”
“Fine,” Selene said without any argument.
Chapter 27
The emergency zone in the supernaturals part of the academy turned out to be a huge rectangular chamber filled with terrified students. Their auras were so much different from the dragon students. Slowly, understanding of why the supernaturals weren’t one of the Prime powers dawned on me.
Would I think of them less? Hell no. They might not be among the strongest, but two of my friends belonged to this bunch and I loved them.
Four statues made of bronze stood watching with their dead eyes as the student milled about.
Selene’s presence put them at ease. I sensed the spell that came from her. It calmed everyone down. Tendrils of her magic tried to reach me, but I didn’t need it. How could I be calm at the time like this? The academy was sabotaged. People could die.
And I was in the epicenter of this mess. Maybe Elleria controlled my mind. So what? I should be smarter than her. If this was the Wastelands, I’d be dead. Selene and Lotian can say whatever they want. I should never be caught off guard.
Selene’s outfit changed once more. She wore a long silver blue-hued dress, now. She glided toward the most composed group. They must be the academy staff.
I trailed after her, not happy about it at all.
Flare? Are you okay?
Lotian? I’m fine. Elleria is defeated. The connection is back? What’s happening there?
All good here. I found Saaron and Ignelion. Unfortunately, Hugman is gone. No one knows what happened to him. Stay safe.
“Raul the Mont, where is the Head of your House?”
Raul the Mont wore a black suit in yellow stripes and had one ugly mustache under the nose. He kneeled before Selene.
“Demi-unicorn, I have no knowledge of Hugman’s whereabouts. He left shortly after the alarms had started.
“Did he say anything?”
“Who cares?” I blurted out. “Where are Rust and Simona?”
Raul the Mont’s eyes widened. He didn’t know how to react to that. His mustaches twitched. He eyed me with a hefty dose of skepticism. As expected, he ignored my question and engaged once more in the conversation with Selene.
I huffed.
“Flare?” A question came somewhere from my left. I whirled around because I knew the voice.
“Simona!”
We crashed into each other’s arms.
“I’m sorry,” I mumbled.
“We were sick of waiting, but our Head, forbade us meeting you. I feared they might expel you.”
I let out a weak laugh. Wasn’t it what I wanted?
“No chance. How are you two doing?”
“Good. There is much to talk about.”
“Where is Rust?” As I asked the question I sensed his approach from my right. Selene and Raul the Mont distanced themselves from the students. I couldn’t tell when I found myself surrounded by supernatural students. The fact that I came with a demi-unicorn meant a lot to them.
Rust tapped my shoulder. I extended my arm taking him under. The three of us got together after months of forced separation. It felt so good to be back with these two.
“There were rumors,” Simona murmured. “About you and a certain demi-dragon. They say that you destroyed something… is the rumor true?”
“It is,” I answered with a grin. “They tried to scare me, but I won in the end.”
“You’re insane,” Simona admitted.
“Yes.”
There will be time for this. Your ban for v
isiting each other will be lifted. Now, we must return to our respective places, Selene’s icy voice sounded in my head.
I haven’t seen them for months! I snapped back at her.
If you won’t return to your dorm room, the ban may not be lifted. It’s your choice, her words were definitive and she turned to leave.
“Fucking pony,” I swore.
“What’s happening, Flare?”
“I must go. I will return tomorrow, I promise.” I kissed Simona’s cheek and Rust’s forehead, mocking his short height. He loved it.
*
“Why so hasty?” I asked.
“My mother is calling a meeting and ordered every student back to his room.”
She said nothing more. I returned to my room. My thoughts oscillated around Dramer, Saaron, and Lotian. A trio of demi-dragons… I had a degree of feelings. No love. Not that. Something else.
The connection with Lotian remained silent. It seemed he attended the same meeting as Selene and Saaron.
Rebecca didn’t appear. Did Elleria do something to her? I couldn’t say. My muscles slowly started to shiver as the entire event settled in my mind. Did I just meet my friends? I imagined our meeting to be a little more intense than that. But then again, Simona and Rust have changed, too. A few months of separation was enough to push our lives in different directions. At the moment, I couldn’t tell how they changed. I only knew that they did.
I lay on the sofa and tiredness must have finally consumed all the adrenaline from my system because when the sleep hit me, it hit hard.
The dreamless sleep ended after what seemed like a second. I checked the time. I slept for over eleven hours. Rebecca was back.
Her harpy-form floated in the middle of the living room.
“Where have you been?” I asked winking grains of the sleep out of my eyes.
She made a hopeful face. “Did you miss me?”
“No,” I snapped. My usual mood returned. I smiled. Elleria and Selene made enough damage in my head.
A cheap pout appeared on her tiny face. I didn’t buy it.
“You didn’t answer me. Where have you been?”
Her sulky expression had melted and a serious face took place.
“Every personal assistant had been commanded to return for a briefing.”
“Who ordered that?”
“The board.”
Something important must have been said. I’ve decided to not stay ignorant anymore. Nothing will be decided about me, without me.
A soft knocking startled me.
“You have a guest,” Rebecca admitted.
“No shit.” I gave her a stern look. “We’ll return to this conversation. Let him in.” I knew who was waiting on the other side.
The door opened and Lotian slipped inside. He gracefully closed the door behind. Overly suspicious.
“What are you doing here?” I asked not very politely. Lotian only smiled. But his expression didn’t hold any of the smug he’d possessed the first time we met. There was more to it this time. No. I didn’t trust him despite the connection. Yes. I was a complicated person who could love and hate the same person at the same time. But who said emotions were simple to understand?
Lotian didn’t ask for permission as he took the second sofa opposite mine. His ripped muscles stretched the fabric of his honey T-shirt to its limits. I had to acknowledge that he got a nice body. Not as big as Dramer, but in some ways as appetizing. His torn denim jeans were too tight and for a moment I feared his junk might get squashed.
It’s as tough as the rest of my body, suddenly, his voice said in my head.
Fuck, my thoughts must have bled again.
“Rebecca, get out of this flat,” I said glaring at the orange-eyed demi-dragon. His flame-colored hair was still damp from the shower, which I could smell. Instinctively, I inhaled the aroma of his skin and my body reacted to it. Was I going to repeat the mistake I’d made with Saaron?
His handsome face radiated with thoughts that echoed in my head.
“Flare. Flare. Flare.” Rebecca’s voice became insignificant like a pebble in the bed of a small stream that turned into a rapid river. She could only go with the current.
“I don’t want this,” I said. “For the record.”
“You get the idea that we may end up with the slackers for this one?” Lotian said. He didn’t sound worried though. More like amused.
“I would rather get expelled, but boy, they don’t want to kick me out of this place.”
Lotian had roared clapping his thighs, then he quieted down and said, “Saaron will never let you go.”
“Then good luck keeping me here. I’m a wild beast.” My hand made a circular motion. “All of this is like a prison. Don’t you feel the same?”
“Perhaps, we all do,” he admitted. “Perhaps, it’s time for a small change.”
“Flare! I informed the Head of the Dragon House! You can’t do this. Dragon students are not allowed to—” Lotian snapped his fingers and Rebecca was gone.
“Don’t worry about her. I sent her for a short vacation.”
“What about your brother?”
“Saaron has hands full of work now. He won’t—”
A rapid knocking cut Lotian off. We looked at each other. The spell of mutual attraction that developed between us wavered but held. Not waiting for the response Saaron used his authority and entered my dorm room.
“You have no right!” I jumped to my feet, ready for a fight with him.
His beautiful red eyes flickered between me and Lotian. He looked as nothing could deny him. Saaron came as the Head of the Dragon House. He stood in full splendor calculating his next move.
“A meeting between us is overdue,” he said to me. “Everyone so far has been interrogated. Except you.”
“I’m sorry, but I don’t have time for you, right now. I will let you know when I find five minutes in my schedule.” What an impertinent man! He charged inside without asking for permission and demands a meeting? Did he have any idea what I’d gone through?
I puffed and huffed, sort of imitating Rebecca. How could I lose my virginity with him of all people? Fuck that he was handsome. Fuck him. Fuck his perfect silhouette. Fuck. Fuck… I was running out of steam. My adamant attitude slowly melted in his presence. Why couldn’t I stand up to him?
“I don’t see you doing anything important?”
I closed my eyes and shut my mouth or I’d erupt.
“I think Flare needs more time, Saaron,” Lotian said. “Besides haven’t you noticed? She’s angry as hell and not a single outburst of energy came out her. That’s considerable progress.”
Lotian’s words said more than met the eye. I knew it through our connection. He was hinting something.
I opened my eyes in time to see the contest of glares between two brothers.
“It’s time for you to go, Saaron,” Lotian said. “At the moment, Flare is under my protection and she doesn’t need you.”
Saaron’s fists balled and he seemed ready to charge his brother, then he twitched shoving some nasty thoughts away, gave me a sidelong look and left without a word.
“What’s the matter—”
Lotian’s mouth touched mine.
Forget about him. He wants you only for himself.
Whaaaat…?
Lotian didn’t reply. His hands torn my clothes off. Not again. He stripped me naked within seconds and I didn’t try to stop him. My core heated up instantly, but the destructive energy that brimmed inside me during sex with Saaron now was nowhere to be found.
Lotian worked slowly, trailing his fingers over my tits, hips and his hands settled on my ass. His cock stirred to life and demanded to be freed. He ignored the mating call of his own body. Lotian’s mouth left mine and immediate craving filled my mind. I wanted him to never stop.
Some part of me needed hard and furious sex, while the rest stood intrigued by his delicate caresses. Lotian savored his time, slowly working his way down until his head sto
pped at the level of my sex. When his tongue snaked between my legs I gasped grabbing his red hair in my fists. With Saaron my emotions wanted to consume everything, here now, our energies danced together. Is this the connection between us? Does it keep me from destroying the room?
Soon, I lost a train of thoughts as the first orgasm in months approached me. The intensity of it scoured the tiniest signs of rationality. For this moment, I would happily go through hell. Lotian’s fingers tautened biting my skin. His tongue played a melody of heaven with my pussy. Juices poured all over his chin and cheeks and he didn’t care.
I twitched as the first wave of the orgasm crashed against me. In Lotian’s massive arms, I seemed so insignificant and when I began writhing he held me steady with his tongue still rampaging inside my pussy.
Shouts of pleasure accompanied the second wave. I was losing my mind. A grain of fear flickered. Could my uncontrollable outburst of emotion harm him? It didn’t do anything to Saaron, but his green-haired brother was fucking me restlessly at the same time. Here, Lotian gave up on his own pleasure, making me come.
“OH, FUCK!” the final wave erupted in my core. Lotian’s tongue must swim inside my wet and searing pussy. How could he stand the heat of my core?
The questions stopped mattering as he let go of me and straightened. He was breathing hard, trembling.
“Are you okay?” I managed to say. My own lungs needed more air than I could provide.
“Yes…”
He had kissed my lips leaving a sweet saltiness of my pussy on them, then he left.
I looked at the shreds of my school clothes. A few more visits and I won’t have any. Lotian how did you do this? Why didn’t I erupt like the first time?
I took a deep breath trying to stop my heart from tearing through my chest. Despite the hatred toward Saaron I hadn’t lied to him. My schedule seemed to be crowded. Now that my ban would be lifted I was going to spend my free time with my friends.
