“And yet his blood is the reason you’re still alive. Or have you forgotten what Mother had to sacrifice so you could live? The Olympian DNA in his blood keeps you alive.”
Arakan looked down, unable to hold his daughter’s gaze.
“Take your treatment, and never go off it again.”
“I’ll run out of it eventually, now that he’s gone. Then what?”
Oryn left the room without answering.
Arakan pressed a control on the throne and a hidden compartment inside the throne’s armrest flashed red and revealed three flasks containing a dark purple liquid. He took one of them.
“No!” said a voice in his head. “Don’t do it! You’ll be alone again,” said the red-eyed shadow hovering over the ground a couple of yards away from Arakan.
“You don’t exist. You’re a figment of my imagination.”
“I am your friend and trusted advisor, and if you drink this poison, you’ll slowly lose all your powers. You know I speak the truth.”
“I don’t know what is real anymore,” said Arakan before taking a single drop of the dark purple liquid on his tongue.
“You fool!” said the shadow as it disintegrated into thin air.

A Word from the Author
I’m sure some of you must have wondered why there is a new box set. The simple answer is that I can’t seem to get enough of Universe in Flames.
As a matter of fact, this is my passion project, and I’m only getting started. In 2018 I split my focus with a new series; some of you might have read it, Far Beyond, and while it was a fun new universe to write in, and much lighter approach to Sci-Fi than this series, I kind of regret trying to write two series at once.
I failed in doing so properly and that meant there was more than a year until the next Universe in Flames (Dark Legacy episode 1: Nemesis) got released. Nemesis really is book 11 of the series, and I should not have tried to start it as a new series. So don’t be surprised when the book relaunches soon and Dark Legacy as a series disappears and you see Nemesis with the Book 11 moniker. Because that’s happening, sooner rather than later.
As for teasing you with news, I have another one. I hope you enjoyed Wings of Destiny. And while I loved writing this story, it was pretty challenging. I had completed the first 11 books of Universe in Flames plus many other extra stories (most of them included in this, I hope, Ultimate Box Set edition) when I sat down to write about Chase before the events of Earth - Last Sanctuary.
Well, let me tell you, that’s no easy task to try and get back into the psyche of a character before their first appearance, and in doing so, I found some newfound respect for George Lucas and what he tried to do with the prelogy (prequel trilogy).
It’s not easy to write characters in prequels, at least I don’t find it easy, which will make the prequel Fury War series quite challenging to write, that is, whenever I decide to start working on it. Right now, I’m laser focused on doing two things.
One—write more stories in the vein of Wings of Destiny. So there will be more episodes to release in 2020, the first of which is already written and tentatively called Trial by Fire. It picks up right after Wings of Destiny and follows Chase and Daniel as they take their first steps as fighter pilots.
I’m happy to announce that Trial by Fire is already written and currently being edited and should release early 2020. I think you’ll love Chase and Daniel’s tribulations and first steps on board the Destiny. I sure had a blast writing it!
