A Time of Deceit: Revelation Page 2

by William Cushing

Dick. “I have some information on reporter Feldman. Feldman is also a strange bird. He actually lives in New York City and commutes to Washington a couple of days a week. He just showed up on everybody’s radar two years ago. He doesn’t know many people in Washington. Everybody wonders how he gets his information. Nobody I talked to had ever had a conversation with him. They think he occasionally just makes up things and reports them on the air.”

Tom. “How could he constantly get away with that.”

Dick. “I think that enough of his reporting is accurate enough to give him cover for the false reporting which he does.”

Tom. “Is that all you have?”

Dick. “No, Feldman seems to have no history beyond a couple of years ago. A search of records has nothing on him before then. He is a ghost before that. Doesn’t make sense that a major cable network would hire someone without a history that can be documented.”

Tom. “He and Higby have a similar thread.”

Dick. “Seems so. Feldman lives alone in an upscale Manhattan condo. His income as a reporter would not allow him to support his lifestyle. I think I have to find out where he gets his money first. You should also find out where Higby gets his money. That may point us in the right direction.”

  Tom. “OK.”

  SCENE 7: HIGBY

Things were quiet in Georgetown tonight. It was a rainy Monday night and the bars and restaurants on M Street were not attracting high volumes of customers. A black limousine pulled into an enclosed parking garage and made its way to the third level. The passenger told his driver to park and that he would return shortly. The passenger, a tall distinguished middle aged male, exited the vehicle and walked to a dark corner of the parking level. A women was waiting for him. She was also tall and lean and could only be called striking.

The woman waited for the man to get to her before she acknowledged him. “Higby.”

Higby responded. “Sara. What do you want?”

Sara. “Some people are asking about you. They could be a problem. We picked it up from a tap on your ex-wife’s office.”

Higby. “Why is it a problem?”

Sara. “They contacted your ex-wife. She is going to meet with them.”

Higby. “That could be a problem.”

  Sara. “I thought so.”

Higby. “Do you know what they want?”

Sara. “No, but it doesn’t matter. It has to be considered a threat.”

Higby. “What do you want to do?”

Sara. “Identify them and eliminate them before they meet with your ex-wife.”

Higby. “Why don’t we eliminate the ex-wife? Seems simpler.”

Sara. “You know that you would be a suspect. Not a wise move. We discussed this before your divorce. Remember?”

  Higby. “OK, kill them.”

Sara. “That’s not my job. You have Luther to do your dirty work. I work directly for the Leader, not you.”

Sara. “One more thing. The Leader wants you to tone down your early morning excursions. You are getting sloppy. He feels your actions will eventually expose who you really are. Understand?”

  Higby. “No, I don’t understand.”

Sara. “Your sexual proclivities expose your true form. If one of your victims was ever to survive you could be exposed. Our investment in you would be destroyed. If you were no good to us, you would cease to exist. Understand?”

Higby. “OK. I will be more careful.”

Sara. “No second chance on this.”

Higby. “OK.” As he turned to walk back to his vehicle, he softly said to himself, “Fuck off bitch.”

  Sara. “I heard that.”

In the car Higby told his driver. “Luther, it is a good night for hunting. Let’s go find a human we can use and abuse.”

  Luther. “Yes, sir.”

Sara watched him go and just shook her head. They needed Higby. They had spent too much time and energy to get him placed in his current spot. He was safe for a little longer. Sooner or later his usefulness would be up. And so would he if he did not follow the Leader’s orders.

  SCENE 8: FELDMAN

The Amtrak Acela was halfway to Washington, D.C. The first class car had only a few passengers. They were busy on their phones or laptops. It was quiet. Very little conversation.

Alone in the rear of the the car, Feldman was typing away on his laptop and was oblivious to his surroundings. He was writing a piece that would compromise a member of the White House staff. His contact had told him that the staff member had been under FBI investigation for taking bribes from lobbyists. Feldman could not verify the facts given to him by his contact. But, that didn’t matter. The story would make the staff member persona non grata in the White House and cause her to resign or be fired.

Feldman liked this. The staff member was a critical member of the White House staff and someone whom the Chief of Staff relied upon. Anything to sabotage the White House. That was part of his mission. One of the reasons for his existence.

Feldman thinks to himself. “So, let's make the story a little more scandalous so it sells. Let’s say the staff member is reported to have been given escorts as bribes. I can pay someone to affirm that. Sex sells.“

Feldman begins to create a very explicit story that tells of the staffer’s numerous sexual encounters with escorts who were bribe payments. The story starts to get Feldman excited.

Just then someone stands next to Feldman. Feldman did not look up. He was too busy being aroused by his own writing and imagination.

“Feldman, look up and at me.”

  Feldman did not hear it.

Again, “Feldman, look up and at me.”

  Again, Feldman ignored it.

Feldman felt a heavy slap across his head. Then, he looked up.

It was a tall thin silver haired female. He knew he was in trouble. Big trouble.

Feldman. “Sara, what a pleasure to see you.”

  Sara. “Cut the crap Feldman.”

Feldman. “OK. For what do I owe this honor?”

  Sara. “A new task.”

  Feldman. “What?”

Sara. “A newsworthy item. The Secretary of the Treasury has been having homosexual affairs with members of his staff. We have photos and an audio recording. They are in this file. We want it on the air tomorrow night. No excuses. Understand?”

Feldman opened the file and sure enough there were photos of the Treasury Secretary being penetrated from the rear by a young male while, at the same time, the Secretary was giving fellatio to another young male.

Feldman. “Why not save these for bribery purposes. Seems a waste to out the guy and not get anything for this stuff.”

Sara. “Usually, we don’t need to bribe. We just take control of their minds and tell them what to do. You know that. It seems the control we have over him is not total. He is becoming immune to our telepathic efforts. He has to be punished. He has to be terrorized. He has to be removed.”

Feldman. “Terrorized? Why not use the correct word. Destroyed. It still seems something that we should not be doing.”

Sara. “Leader’s order. Orders are not to be questioned.”

Feldman with a big smile and a sigh of relief that this was all Sara wanted. “My pleasure.”

  Sara. “Do it. No excuses.”

Feldman understood. He knew what Sara was capable of. His predecessor was flayed alive by Sara in front of Feldman. Sara wanted Feldman to know what failure would result in.

Feldman stored his work on the White House staffer and began to work on the new assignment. He looked up to find that Sara had gone to another car in the train. He was relieved.

  SCENE 9: CABLE ANCHOR

Ian Smelzer is having makeup placed on his rounded face and bald head in preparation for his evening cable news show. His producer and he are discussing the content of the show. They want to address two topics tonight.

The first is the need for the United States to convert to the use of non fossil fuels as quic
kly as possible. To convert to solar and wind power as the ultimate sources of energy for the United States.

Smelzer’s producer states. “The objective tonight is to continue the propaganda that fossil fuels are the cause of climate change and that we must abandon their use. Just read the teleprompter. The dialogue is already written. Do not add any of your commentary. Understand?”

  Smelzer. “Understood.”

Producer. “The second topic tonight is to highlight the abundance of well paying climate friendly jobs that the conversion to wind and solar will provide the U. S. middle class.”

Smelzer. “Where will these new jobs be? And when?”

Producer. “Don’t think. Don’t ask questions. Your job is simply to read the teleprompter.”

Smelzer. “I know. But sooner or later, people are going to ask these questions.”

Producer. “Some may. But, the bulk of listeners will not. They will absorb the statements and not question them. Even when the jobs do not become a reality.”

Smelzer. “How can you be so sure?”

Producer. “Have they really ever questioned what we throw at them on a nightly basis?”

  Smelzer. “No.”

Producer. “By the time they wise up to the falsity of the statements, it will be too late for them to do anything.”

Smelzer. “Your right. The conversion will be done. Then fossil fuels will not be an issue in the U.S. that anyone can do anything about.”

Producer. “Correct. And China will then have an unlimited and cheap supply of fossil fuels for as long as they like.”

Smelzer. “That’s part of our mission. I hope our superiors appreciate how successful we are at that.”

Producer. “We are just foot soldiers in the effort to maintain control of the U.S. We just follow the Leader’s directives.”

Smelzer. “Time to get to the studio for the show.”

Producer. “Just read the teleprompter. Do not add any of your own thoughts.”

  Smelzer. “I will not.”

  SCENE 10: THE ALLIANCE

Sara boarded the private jet and sat down next to a distinguished middle aged male. His official title was “Leader.”

He telepathically asked her “How did things go?”

Sara telepathically responded. “Sir, Higby will become a problem sooner or later. His drives are becoming uncontrollable.”

Leader. “We can’t change horses in this race. You and Luther have to manage him. You have to make sure he does not become a problem. Do what you decide is necessary. What about Feldman?”

Sara. “He, as usual, will follow your orders.”

  Leader. “Good.”

  Sara. “Where to now?”

Leader. “Back home. We need to talk to the Board.”

Sara. “I’m not sure that we can manage Higby. He goes out hunting for humans almost nightly. He reverts to his real form when he does this. Someone will capture him on video sooner or later.”

Leader. “Then, as I said earlier. You have to make sure that does not happen. We cannot be exposed. We have hidden from humans for over a thousand years. We will not be able to continue to manage and control them if they find out what we are. The Board and Supreme Council will not be pleased if something happens. I will not be pleased. Understand?”

  Sara. “Yes.”

Leader. “When we came to this world a millennium ago, we saw an opportunity to control these humans. We decided that this was a suitable world to settle down in. Our world needed the resources this world provided. A stable source of nutrition that we could send back to out home world. So, we stayed. We discovered that there were more than humans living here. We made alliances with these underworld creatures. Ancient creatures that lived here and which the humans knew nothing about. That alliance still holds.”

Sara. “The humans were easy to manage centuries ago. Today, there are so many and they are becoming more aware. It is becoming more difficult.”

Leader. “Yes, so we have to be more devious and ruthless in our dealings with them.”

Sara. “I don’t see how we can become more ruthless. We control just about every bit of information they get. We control most of their Governments. We eliminate any threat. What more can we do?”

Leader. “Be more ruthless. Identify and eliminate any threat as quickly as it can we identified.”

Sara. “That will eventually expose us.”

Leader. “It is the only course of action that we have. If they saw us in our normal form they would panic and do everything they could to eliminate us. You know how violent these creatures can be.”

Sara. “They are less violent than we. But, we can’t kill them all.”

Leader. “Yes, we can. If it is necessary. This is our world now. Not theirs.”

Sara.”We have a long flight. Sit back and let me make the flight more enjoyable.”

  SCENE11: HUNTING HUMANS

The black limo slows down as it approaches the 600 block of Florida Avenue, NW. It is about 2:00 am and any bars on this street will be packed tonight. By 2:00 am most of the customers will have had enough to drink to make them unlikely to make decisions that are sensible.

Higby, in the back of the limo, tells his driver to pull over in front of a small club known for its popularity.

Higby. “Luther, go in and bring us out some fresh meat. I will stay here.”

Luther. “Sure. Any particular type tonight?”

  Higby. “Something that tastes good.”

Luther exits the limo and slowly walks to the entrance of the bar. The bouncer at the entrance recognizes him and waves him in without a word. Luther waits for his eyes to get used to the low light levels in the club before making his way to the bar and finding a seat. He looks out over the dance floor and starts to search for potential targets. But luck is on his side tonight. Two attractive women approach the bar seeking to get refills of their drinks. The only opening to the bartender is next to Luther.

Luther, pointing to the space beside him. “Don’t be shy. Step right up to the bar.”

The women, both brunettes with smiles, took the hint and pushed to the bar.

Luther. “Hi, can I buy you ladies a drink?”

One of the women smiles at Luther. “Sure. Two vodka martinis. Thanks.”

Luther waves to the bartender and orders the martinis.

Luther. “I’m Luther. And your names are?”

The woman responds. “I am Mary and this is Sheila.”

Luther. “Nice to meet you charming ladies.”

  Mary. “Likewise.”

Luther. “Are you ladies here by yourselves?”

Mary. “Yes, we decided to come out and dance tonight. This place has the best music and the dance floor vibes are contagious.”

  Luther. “Here are your drinks.”

  Mary. “Thanks.”

  Sheila. “Yes, thank you.”

Luther knew he did not have to entertain further conversation before he could control their minds and have them do his bidding. His people had the ability to communicate through telepathy with humans. They could take control of a human’s mind and make them do whatever they wanted if they were in close proximity to the human. A range of 5 feet or less was all that was needed.

But tonight, Luther wanted to finish his drink and enjoy some casual conversation with Mary and Sheila before getting down to work.

Luther. “So, what do you ladies do in D. C.?”

Mary. “I work as a lobbyist.”

Sheila. “I am a Secret Service agent.”

Luther. “How do you ladies know each other? You don’t seem to be in careers that complement each other.”

Mary. “We live in Alexandria and work out at the same club. We got to know each other in a yoga class.”

Sheila. “Actually, we were in the Yoga class before going out tonight. So, what do you do?”

Luther. “I work for a Congressman.”

  Mary. “Who?”

  Luther. “Who is not imp
ortant. But, I am sure he would like to meet both of you. Interested?”

Mary. “Not tonight. I have to work tomorrow.”

  Sheila. “Ditto. Work tomorrow.”

Luther. “That’s too bad. You don’t know what you are missing.”

Luther knew it was time to take control. His mind reached into the minds of Mary and Sheila and gained control. He planted the thoughts that they would gladly accompany him to see the Congressman and leave with Luther immediately. The effort took all the energy he could spare but he accomplished the task. The mind control thoughts had been planted.

Luther. “Do you ladies want to reconsider and go meet the Congressman?”

Mary. “I think that is a good idea.”

  Sheila. “Me too, let's go.”

  Luther. “Follow me.”

Luther and the ladies left the bar. Luther took them to the limo and opened the limo’s rear door. The ladies smiled and got in.

  SCENE 12: THE REVEAL

U.S highways 40 and 85 were not crowded today and Tom and Dick had made good time getting to Richmond. They were early for their meeting with Congressman Higby’s ex-wife. They were to meet her at a small cafe in the 2000 block of W. Main St. They decided to go in, get a table and wait for the ex-wife.

It was 4:30 pm and most tables were empty. They picked a table in a corner of the restaurant facing the door and ordered some coffee. A half hour later a stylishly clothed and attractive female walked through the door. Tom recognized her from a photo he had of the ex-wife. She scanned the restaurant as she walked in and noticed Tom waving to her. She smiled and walked over to the table. Tom and Dick rose and introduced themselves. The ex-wife reciprocated and said. “Please call me Nancy.”

Nancy. “I am afraid we don’t have much time. I have an 7:30 pm flight back tonight. So, let's get to work. I’ll have a coffee also. Now, what do you guys want?”
