Faker Boy (Alexis Secret Book 1)

It was too bad that normal didn’t quite cut it in this society.

The girl inside, felt completely different. She was fed up, frustrated, pained.

But, most of all, she was broken- a hard china doll to fix. The damage may as well be permanent.

I shook my head deciding that a change of topic would be better, so I thought about Aaron and his friend.

I was anxious now. Aaron’s friend was gonna be there and I wanted him to have a positive opinion on me. What if he didn’t like me?

With Sam it wasn’t that nerve wrecking. She was an adult and I, being the nerd I am, can get on pretty well with adults. I’ve been impressing adults my whole life, but kids my age were a different matter. Kids my age didn’t seem to like me and I was scared Aaron’s friend would be no exception.

I grabbed a small side bag, said goodbye to my mum and stepped outside. I was surprised to say the least. I mean, I knew he was rich, but what I didn’t know was that he would have such a sleek car. I didn’t even know that he had already turned 18.

I wasn’t into cars, but I could tell which ones were good and which ones were not.

I looked closer and there he was. Aaron Walker, leaning against the side of the black car, on his phone. I saw another guy sitting on the hood of the car with honey-coloured hair. He must have been the friend. I didn’t recognise him from our school. As I got closer, the click of my shoes alerted the guys of my presence and both boys looked up.

The guy was looking at me. I inhaled deeply, placing my focus solely on Aaron, ready to start my acting.

I got closer to Aaron and grinned widely, as though I was happy to see him. He smiled in return, sticking his arms out.

“Lexi.” I blushed at the way he called my name so lovingly. He pulled me to his chest and hugged me tight.

Although hugging was a foreign concept to me, it felt good to be held; to be engulfed in warmth, even if it was short-lived. I was still stuff in his arms and I could tell he sensed that as he began to move away.

We pulled back and smiled at each other. It was only I realised how close we were, our noses practically touching. I blinked slowly, taking in how flawless he looked from this close up. From this close, I could see the gold flecks in his blue eyes; the slope of his angled jaw and the way in which a few strands of stray hair rested against his forehead, due to the wind, slightly wavy. I settled my gaze, lastly, on his lips that were set firm but full.

Aaron stared back at me with dark eyes; his arms encircling my waist. In response mine went around his neck. He leaned slowly until we were a few inches apart and-

“Quit kissing, you can kiss later, preferably when I’m gone, I wanna get to the fair!” Aaron’s friend’s whined and, surprisingly, I was glad for the intrusion. I shook my head to gather my sanity and tried my hardest to forget what had just occurred.

Aaron laughed in response to his friend, the sound sending chills up my spine.

“We weren’t kissing. We would have been if you didn’t interrupt.” He said, laughter bubbling in his voice.

I blushed at his words because they were entirely true. The moment that had just occurred was so impromptu and unexpected. It wasn’t planned and only happened because of the circumstances and proximity.

  Get it together, Alexis.

His friend then came up to me. Sticking his hand out eagerly in the form of a greeting. I shook his hand with a small smile.

“Chance” He said simply, smiling widely like a Cheshire cat.

“Huh?” I said, confused as hell.

His smile only widened and he cleared his throat as if he had been planning this for a while. I heard Aaron groan in the background and mutter something that sounded like ‘not again’. His friend only glared at him then returned his face to me. He inhaled deeply and then spoke.

“The names Chance. Short for Chancellor Benedict Williams... The fourth” he tacked on smugly.

  “Gesundheit.” I said simply

His face morphed into a scowl. I smiled in return which only widened when I heard Aaron laughing. I turned to smile at him and he smiled in return. I turned my gaze to Chance.

“My name’s Alexis... the first.” I tacked on jokingly to which Chance incoherently grumbled something to himself before getting in the car.

I turned to Aaron who was regarding me with a smile.

  “You’re something else, Lexi.”

  14- Where's My Candy Floss?

“Come on! This way!” I shouted, excitedly, tearing through the crowd.

For the past hour, I had been dragging the boys to every ride. I couldn’t help it. I loved the fair. It had been so long since I had went and I didn’t know if I would ever come back, so I was gonna make the most of it.

“Oh come on Alexis! You’re dragging us everywhere and my feet hurt!” Chance cried.

I rolled my eyes at his diva behaviour that I had been more than accustomed to by being with him for a mere hour. And, safe to say, it was getting old really fast.

“Suck it up, Benedict” I muttered, nudging his along.

He snorted, putting his nose in the air.

“It’s not Benedict. It’s Chance. You make me sound like a bloody egg” he stated snottily.

I snorted back in an unlady-like fashion.

“Could’ve fooled me. You sure smell like one” I muttered. Chance didn’t seem to hear, but Aaron did and stopped texting, laughing loudly. I smiled at this, glad to have made someone laugh at least.

I looked towards Aaron and, sure enough, his eyes were closed, his head tilting up ever so slightly. He was very attractive when he laughed but I was definitely not going to share this fact with him, in fear that it would inflate his ego.

I rolled my eyes fondly at him and turned around, my eyes landing on Doom, a well known roller-coaster.

“Come on! Let’s get to the rollercoaster before the line queues up too much” I shouted to the boys, jumping up and down and pointing like a child.

“Oh my god, woman!” Chance shouted, rubbing his face with his hands.

  “Haven’t you had enough?!”

I shook my head giddily. I was way to ecstatic to roll my eyes at Chance being an over-dramatic diva. I ran up towards the roller-coaster, waiting in the line.

The boys soon turned up, Chance complaining about his feet, throwing his hands up in the air frantically, gaining attention from the other people in the line whilst Aaron just stood, head ducked down, texting away on his phone. His face was blank and he would look up to walk forward when the line moved, but would then quickly return all his attention to the phone.

He then, finally, put his phone in his back pocket and looked around, confused.

“Which ride are we at?” He asked before looking towards Chance, who was on the ground, shoes off, rubbing his feet. He eyed his friend in disgust.

“Dude, do you really have to do that here?” He questioned, his nose crinkled slightly and his eyebrows furrowed.

I couldn’t help, but find that cute. He looked like a lost puppy. I was almost tempted to go scratch behind his ears, but I knew that it would, no doubt, gain weird looks from him and, not to mention, everyone else who was watching.

Chance sniffed and continued rubbing his feet.

“It’s not my fault I have sensitive feet, but you guys wouldn’t know anything about that” He huffed. He then blew his hair out of his eyes.

“Primitive apes” he muttered sourly, under his breath.

Aaron merely raised an eyebrow at his friend’s strange behaviour and turned to me, giving me the ‘whats up with him’ look. I shrugged in response, deciding it was best not to go into the painful details of the ‘Chance hissy fit’.

Before Aaron could respond, we were at the front of the line where a tall olive-skinned brunette stood, taking money for the ride. I dug some money out of my pocket, sticking my hand out to give it to her.

  “Hi, can we have 3-”

I was cut off by the brunette who began talking, her gaze was
on Aaron, smiling widely.

“That would be 3 tickets, please.” She said, her voice thick and foreign. She stuck her arm out towards Aaron for a ticket, eyeing with sultry bedroom eyes. I rolled my eyes at the exaggerated attempt.

Aaron, who’s attention had been on Chance who was on the floor complaining, looked up to meet the owner of the voice. As soon as his gaze met with ‘Tiana’, he grinned slightly, his eyes roving up and down her body subtly before he edged closer.

If I had the energy and some food in my stomach, I would have vomited there and then, but I was running on empty, so I gave him an extra dry look before turning to the side.

She actually smiled when she noticed him checking her out, put her hand on her hip and thrust her chest subtly as though she was an exhibit hung up in a museum. When Aaron seemingly gave an approving look in her direction, I subconsciously looked down to compare my body to hers, before realising what I was doing and snapping by head back to watch the scene in front of me.

The girl was now right in front of Aaron, smiling sickly, conversing with him as though she wasn’t on the clock. Aaron nodded casually as she spoke, his eyes holding a mischievous look. I decided it was time that ‘Brangelina’ came to an end, so I walked up to them and thrust my money in Tiana’s face.

“Excuse me. I’ve been waiting for ages to go on this ride. Can you quicken it up?” I said sweetly.

I didn’t want to sound jealous because I wasn’t. I was merely annoyed by the fact that Aaron couldn’t stop being a player for just a few hours while I had fun. It’s been such a long time since I actually had fun and he was ruining it.

The girl glared at me and snatched the money from my hand.

“Sure” she said, through gritted teeth. I bit back a smile. I loved seeing her annoyed even though I didn’t know her. I grabbed the tickets from her hand and gave one to Chance. I turned around to Aaron, smiling and handed him his ticket.

He looked at the ticket in my hand before slowly shaking his head. I frowned.

“What’s wrong, Aaron?” I said, confusion and concern both evident in my voice.

He faltered for a minute before looking at the roller-coaster.

“I don’t know. It’s just... I never liked this ride” he said with a shrug. He then suddenly lit up a little and spoke.

“You and Chance go on since you like it so much. I’ll go get us some candy floss, yeah?”

I deflated a little bit because I wanted to sit with Aaron and not the drama queen, but immediately lit up when I heard about the candy floss. It had always been my all-time favourite sweet food.

“Okay” I chirped, happily. Aaron smiled in return, kissing me on the cheek lightly

“Be right back” he whispered and with that he moved away from me, said a quick goodbye to Chance before heading towards the candy floss machine.

I smiled slightly and touched my cheek lightly though it was only a reflex. The warmth of his lips contrasted to that of the windy 7pm weather and I had liked it, more than I would have cared to admit.

I whirled around to find Chance putting his foot in his shoe. I grimaced. I thought at least with his rich snooty nature, there would be an essence of class, but no. He had chose to leave that at home.

He turned to me, his eyed saddened.

“Are we doing this or what?” He said, looking down at his shoe, no doubt thinking about his ‘sensitive feet’. I rolled my eyes.

“Only if you can take it, Benedict!” I shouted, yanking Chance by his upper arm and pushing him into the seat beside me.

The ride started and, honestly, it was cooler than I had imagined, but that’s not what I was thinking about. I was thinking about Aaron and why he didn’t want to go on the roller-coaster. Maybe he had a bad memory associated with them or maybe he was scared of them.

I then started thinking of how better it would be if Aaron was sitting in the seat beside me. Don’t get me wrong, Chase is a cool guy even, but he was always complaining about the roller-coaster going too fast, so I would much rather have Aaron along with me.

I sighed. I love the nickname he gave me. I never was given one and it suited me.

The ride ended shortly after with me blabbing to Chance about how cool the ride was. I was expecting Aaron to be standing there, smirking; some candy floss in his hand, but he wasn’t there.

But that wasn’t what broke my heart.

I looked over to the line of the ride to find that the ‘ticket girl’ was also nowhere in sight.

  15- Playboy's Funhouse

Tired, me and Chance sat down in some chairs that were situated near the candy floss machine. The place where Aaron had said he went. Chance and I had been searching for him for 35 minutes now, but couldn’t find him anywhere.

Chance thought he had gone for an emergency, but I knew better than to think that. You see, Chance thought we were dating, so he wouldn’t assume that Aaron would ‘cheat’, but in actual fact, Aaron was a free bird, meaning he could go with any girl that he wanted at this minute and that’s exactly where I believed him to be.

  With some girl.

And not just any girl. ‘Ticket girl’ to be specific.

I felt angry at the thought. What if someone saw him with this girl? He would screw up the whole plan. If he wanted this to work, he needed to stop being so careless.

“Calm down” Chance’s voice broke into my thoughts.

“His mum probably just called him home for something. You know she’s in a bad state. He probably went there” He spoke in a reassuring tone, but I knew the truth.

But I couldn’t tell Chance. I may have been super angry at Aaron, but I would never bust out a secret. That wasn’t me.

“Yeah, I’m sure he’s at home” I lied, forcing a smile. Chance raised his eyebrow in question.

“I know what a real smile looks like. Don’t worry. He’s alright” He said, putting his hand over mine.

I smiled. Even though Chance was a snobby drama queen, he was a great friend.

Suddenly, Chances phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and looked at me apologetically.

“Sorry I gotta take this. Would you mind?” He said.

I smiled. Now this was a gentlemen. Someone who excused himself before leaving. Not someone who went off without telling anyone, making then search around frantically for you. That was no gentlemen.

“Sure! Go ahead. Take it, I’ll be fine.” I said, smiling.

Chance looked at me gratefully before standing out of the chair and walking to a place that was quieter. I looked around, bored. Until my eyes landed on something.

  I mean, someone.

There, across from where I was sitting, was Tiana, walking out of... a funhouse? She looked around, a grin plastered across her face before walking back to the direction of the roller-coaster. A few minutes later, Aaron walked out, his face looking at his phone, while he texted.

Without thinking, I walked up to him and stood in front of him. He didn’t seem to notice because he didn’t look up from his phone. I coughed loudly to get his attention which seemed to work because his head shot up and he sent me a lazy smile.

“Where were you? We looked everywhere for you” I said with no hint of emotion. I didn’t want to shout and be called uptight again.

“With Tiana” He said, carelessly and I had to keep my temper controlled at the reckless male in front of me. It was though he couldn’t keep his raging hormones to the side, even if it meant that it was to make people believe we were going out.

“And what if someone saw you and our plan got ruined?” I said, calmly. I did not want a repeat of the last time Aaron had gotten angry and I had nearly wet myself.

He shot me a reassuring smile.

“Don’t worry, I was extra careful” He said, sending me a small wink and I felt the urge to tear his eyes out.

“But, in the funhouse?” I asked, incredulously. There were several hygiene issues with that, not to mention if there were any kids around.

  “It
s called a funhouse for a reason, right?” He said, smirking widely.

“And truth be told, that’s the most fun I had in that damn house” he continued, raising his eyebrows for effect.

I retched at the thought before gesturing to the house with a hand.

“Some kids could have saw you! You probably scarred them for life” I said, my mouth hung open. I couldn’t believe this.

Aaron shook his head, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

“Don’t worry, Lexi, we were well hidden. No kid was there.” He said, shrugging his shoulders like it was no big deal, but to me it was.

Romance was a special thing, one that needed to be shared with someone special. And, to act so intimate with a stranger, just for a few moments of ‘fun’, I didn’t get it. It made me realise how different our likes and dislikes were. We were, indeed, worlds apart.

I wanted to shout at him so badly, but I couldn’t. The plan hadn’t been ruined so I had no right. I also didn’t want him getting angry at me so I dismissed my temper.

But, why was I so angry? I knew for a fact I wasn’t jealous. He was an asshole and I felt sorry to whomever would end up with him. He was a playboy and one thing was sure:

I would never fall for the playboy.

  16- The Money

I sighed. It had been about an hour and a half since Aaron had dropped me home and I have been currently looking for some clothes to wear for school tomorrow. To say I was scared was an understatement.

  I was terrified.

I didn’t know what everyone would think of me and Aaron. His dedicated ‘lovers’, Britney, his friends. What would they say?

The thought of his friends scared me the most. I mean, I knew I shouldn’t be fretting on their opinion because our relationship was indeed fake, but I felt the need to impress them.

So this is why I was where I am now. Searching for clothes to wow his friends and to make myself socially acceptable.

“Alexis” I heard my mum calling from downstairs. I stared at the clothes and sighed, defeated. The clothes I picked would have to do.
