He smiled a little wider this time, but soon his face was blank again. I needed that smile to stay.

“God, stop being so uptight!” I groaned in a octave lower than my own. I remember when he said that to me.

He kept his eyes on the lake, a breathy chuckle escaping his lips.

“I know what you’re trying to do.” He said quietly.

I pulled a stern face and put my best deep voice on.

“Don’t think you know me because you know nothing about me.”

With that, his ‘wall’ broke down and he fell to the ground, laughing. I laughed alongside him, glad to be the reason he was smiling. He was so beautiful when he smiled. His eyes returned with the mischievous glint that he had lost not minutes ago.

“I need a favour.” I said through heavy chuckles, repeating his words to me yet again.

Aaron stopped laughing and looked at me curiously.

  “What is it?” He asked.

  I grinned profusely.

“I need you to smile and strip, so we can get this swimming show on the road.”

He looked at me blankly, registering my words, before smiling.

“You’re going to swim with me?” He questioned, the smile never leaving his face.

  I shook my head.

“No. WE’RE going to swim. Don’t try to get out of it.” I joked, putting emphasis on ‘we’re’.

Aaron smirked, back to his regular self.

“I won’t try getting out it. I know how much you’re yearning to see me.” He taunted.

  I smirked back.

  “Oh please.” I scoffed.

“I just hope that a shark finds the sight of your body appetising and eats you up whole.” I said, praying inside my head that the exact opposite happens.

  Aaron came closer, still smirking.

“Yeah, well the ‘shark’ should know that my bark is not worse than my bite.” With this, he licked his perfect white canines.

  I smiled.

“Yeah, what else should the ‘shark’ know?” I questioned, knowing that, since Aaron’s comment, we weren’t actually talking about a shark.

Aaron came closer, looking me straight in the eyes.

“The ‘shark’ should know that it would be dangerous to come after me.” Aaron said, his voice mesmerising.

  “Really?” I said, moving closer.

  Aaron nodded.

“After one day with me, the ‘shark’ will be begging on its knees for a way out.” Aaron said fiercely, his words solemn.

  I smirked at him.

“Sharks don’t have knees.” I said, using my as-a-matter-of-factly tone.

Aaron moved the final step towards me, our noses an inch apart.

“Who said we were talking about sharks?”

  ***************************

I sighed. I was currently stood behind a bush. Aaron had instructed me to remove everything but my undergarments, promising me he won’t look. I didn’t trust him, so that’s why I ended up behind this bush. Well, I trusted with a lot of things. The topic of nudity was just not one of them.

I feared he would come and look but omitted that fear when I heard a splash.

  He was in the lake.

I shook my head and slowly stripped my body from my clothes. They hit the floor with a soft thud. I breathed deeply. I hated my body. Well, it wasn’t all that bad, but neither was anything special.

The boys, nowadays, liked girls with big butts and chests. They liked girls with tans and slim legs.

I did not look like that, but then again who had all of that? Every girl was beautiful and should be proud of their body, regardless of whatever anyone else thinks.

Everyone comes in different shapes and sizes, so who are boys to decide which shape is remotely ‘ideal’?

I hugged my body and shoved my clothes to the side. Just be calm, I thought, repeating it as I sneaked past the bush.

Aaron was in the water waist-deep with his bare back to me, looking up at the sky.

This was my chance to run and quietly go into the water without him seeing me.

I sneaked quietly across the cool grass. The wind hit my body, making me shiver. I kept my eyes on him to make sure he wasn’t looking. I reached the water and looked at Aaron. His gaze was still on the sky and my brain went into anxiety mode.

I shook my head again. I’ve been thinking too much lately and it was really unhealthy. Aaron was unhealthy.

I slowly lowered my body in, making sure that everything from toes collar bones. Aaron still had his back to me. I let out a small cough to catch his attention. He turned slowly towards me, eyeing me up and down, even though most of me was underwater.

His eyes then found mine, searching them as he came closer. I moved as back as I could until my back hit the bank. I did not want him close to me when I was wearing just my undergarments.

“Aaron?” I said, trying to get his attention, but he didn’t seem to notice.

With his eyes dead set on mine, he stalked towards me. A look on his face I couldn’t quite read.

  What was he doing?

With his eyes dead set on mine, he stalked towards me. A look on his face I couldn’t quite read.

  What was he doing?

  *****

  “Aaron?” I called again.

He didn’t reply, yet continued his voyage towards me.

I could have swam away by now. I could have moved, but I didn’t. My body refused to move, staying firmly planted. Much to my convenience because even my curiosity was getting the better of me. I wanted to see what Aaron was going to do.

I remained silent when he reached me. I stood still, watching his every move.

Aaron’s gaze remained fixated on my eyes. He moved closer until there was a centimetre gap between his body and my own, causing a small gasp to escape my mouth. I wouldn’t be used to this close proximity on a regular day, let alone when I was almost naked.

“Aaron?” I whispered, looking back into his eyes.

Aaron’s gaze ceased to falter. Slowly, his lips curled upwards into a smirk.

“Well, this is compromising.” He cheesed, motioning between his body and my own with a long slender finger.

It took me a while to process what he had said. I scoffed, placing a hand on his rock hard chest and pushed him away.

“You scared the shit out of me, Walker!” I shouted, refusing to meet his eyes.

  Aaron raised a dark eyebrow.

“Scared the shit out of you? Jesus, don’t tell me you took a dump in the lake.” He joked, a horrific look on his face while he eyed the water around him.

  I rolled my eyes.

“Geez, Aaron, vulgar much?” I said, grimacing.

Aaron laughed shortly. He then ducked his head to my ear.

“What? Too vulgar for your virgin ears?” He whispered, taunting what I was most proud of.

I smirked, pulling back so that I could see his face.

“You say virgin like it’s a bad thing.”

  He smirked back.

“Well, is it a good thing?” He questioned, folding his arms which- ultimately- drew my attention to his biceps that flexed as he tightened them around his chest. I breathed in deeply and shrugged.

“Depends on how you look at it.” I replied honestly.

Aaron was silent for a minute, thinking to himself.

“Good answer.” He replied, smiling at me. I smiled back.

Aaron closed his eyes, tilting his head back. Similar to what he did when he was laughing. This time, however, his mouth didn’t open to fill the surroundings with his mesmerising laugh, but rather stayed shut as he smiled.

  “Aaron?” I questioned.

“Mm?” He grunted in response, not bothering to open his eyes or even give a coherent reply.

“I know this is personal, but why don’t you sleep with virgins?” I asked, curiosity evident in my tone.

Aaron’s eyes snapped open, surprised by
my sudden serious take on the conversation. No longer than he had lost it, Aaron regained his cool and relaxed back into the water.

“Why so curious? Does somebody want a favour?” He joked, dusting some imaginary dirt from his shoulder.

“Aaron.” I said, rolling my eyes.

“Dancing around the subject is not going to help.”

  He shrugged heavily.

“I don’t know. It’s too sad, I guess.” He replied.

“Sad?” I said, confusion bordering my voice.

  Aaron nodded slightly.

“A girls virginity is a bigger deal than what it’s made out to be. Taking that away from her so casually, without meaning is something I wouldn’t want to do.” He said honestly, making me smile goofily.

Oh, so he did have a heart!

“And as Aaron said that, his heart grew three times in size.” I joked, covering my mouth in mock shock.

Aaron glared at me full on.

“Ha Ha. Laugh it up, Dawson.” He said, dismissing me with a wave of his hand.

  I laughed.

“I’m kidding. What you said was really sweet. That’s really noble of you.” I said sincerely.

“Noble enough for a reward?” Aaron replied suggestively, waggling his eyebrows.

  I laughed.

“On second thought, what you said didn’t really hit home and is, therefore, unworthy of a reward.” I said jokingly, making Aaron glare at me for a second time that night.

Aaron placed one hand on my shoulder and the other hand shielding his heart.

“That really hurt, Lexi.” He said, feigning hurt.

  I laughed.

  “Good.”

Everything went silent. I slowly turned to see Aaron’s hand still on my shoulder. Aaron turned to see what I was looking at.

I gasped when I felt his hand add a little pressure. I looked up at him to find that he was looking straight into my eyes.

His hand tentatively stroked down towards my upper arm where he grabbed gently, drawing slow circles with his thumb.

I stood there speechless. Aaron’s moves, from the start, had always been unpredictable. I wanted to look away, but I couldn’t so I carried on looking into his eyes just like the way he looked into mine.

His long fingers traced down my elbow, his presence ghost-like and stopped in his movements. His eyes stared deeply at me as I gazed back, relishing from the heat of his hand in contrast to the cold lake water. He then skimmed a slender index finger down my lower arm.

I watched in anticipation as his hand went into the water. His hand found mine, latching our fingers together. I smiled at the warmth from the contact, looking as he pulled our conjoined hands out of the water, holding it up.

I watched as he gazed curiously at our hands, opening my hand up so that our palms were flat against each other.

My hand was smaller than his own and I gulped, wondering what he was doing.

His lips formed a small smile as he stared affectionately at our hands, his eyes flickering with more emotion than I could take- curiosity; confusion; passion and an emotion that I had become too familiar of over the past few years.

Sadness. Clouding his eyes, it took over the youthful mischief that once filled Aaron’s eyes and confused me entirely.

He continued gazing affectionately at our hands and then his stare turned towards me, making my insides churn.

He licked his lips which drew my attention there. Aaron noticed my stare and, with our palms still connected, he moved closer towards me. His lips growing inches closer and closer to my own.

I tilted my head, moving closer. Feeling a strange feeling in my gut. It excited yet scared me.

Aaron’s lips were like a whisper above my own. He stilled for a minute, almost in a way to ask for permission. I nodded shortly, proceeding to move in. My need was greater than logic, right now.

The need to kiss the playboy.

  To be continued …..
