  And many more to come!

Barbara Cool Lee writes the kind of books she likes reading: fun and heartwarming romantic mysteries where the good guys treat people with kindness and you can always count on a happy ending.

She lives in a cozy cottage by the sea on the California coast. While she's writing her next book, she's got a loaf of sourdough bread in the oven, a pot of veggie soup on the stove, and the fog is billowing outside the windows.

  A note about the book

The three Illions Supreme carousels were real, but the fourth one, in Pajaro Bay, is fiction. Marcus Charles Illions was a real person who created some of the most amazing carousels ever carved (and he reportedly really did spend his days off watching the horses at the local racetrack). If you'd like to learn more, Gilded Lions and Jeweled Horses is one of the best scholarly works on the subject; and the Illions "rose" horse itself was the cover model for the definitive coffee table book about carousels, Painted Ponies.
