Turning back to me, I could see the shock on Cameron’s face. “You’re really for real about this?”
“One hundred percent.” I nodded. “I’ll admit I’m jealous when you get her alone. I know it was killing Vanessa to split her time between us. And after the kitchen the other day, I remembered what it was like to be with you.”
“How would this ever work?”
“However we want,” Vanessa answered.
“And we’re not here to figure that out right now. We’re here to just talk it out and think about trying it out. I won’t push anyone or be pushed into anything. We’ve already made some poor and hasty decisions. I’m not doing that again.”
The waiter appeared with the appetizers and we were silent while he walked away. Staring at the dishes of cheese and meat, I didn’t know what else to say. I’d made the case for us, and…it was up to Cameron now.
Reaching out for a sweet pickle from charcuterie, Cameron broke the silence. “We should really order food if we’re going to qualify this as our first date.”

Laicy: Are we still on for dinner tonight?
JoeFriday: Of course we are. You don’t have to ask.
Vanity: You still have a key, don’t even.
