Part 17
-The film crew is on the underground platform and all is about to go mad. (It’s a tedious take22)
On the underground platform everyone has been working for the 13th consecutive nights of filming. There is a bonus if this film is made on time and under budget. Another one of Big Bills great ideas to get things done even cheaper and save money, the pressure is huge.
Standing on the platform once again they all hear that awful distant scream, more like a cry-out in agony, sometimes it was more like a growl, it was terrifying as it echoed from the left of the dark train tunnel.
Big Bill: “Those tunnel workers have been screaming all week. They think it’s so funny. Bunch of scumbags.”(He stares into the dark tunnel)
Sue: “I have made a complaint, they’re so childish”. (Tunnel workers have been playing silly piratical jokes all week)
Frank: “There’s something weird about that sound. Never heard anything like it and it comes from different directions. How do they do it?” (Frank also has a long stare at the dark tunnel)
The heat is now unbearable, the crew is exhausted to the point of collapse and everyone is stressed out.
Paul Douglas: “How many more takes of this nonsense? Why don’t they run the air conditioning for us at night? Let me guess. We save money right? Why are there so many changes to the script? Can’t you stick to the book, the book for god’s sake?”
Big Bill: “where’s the poster? For crying out loud there’s no advertising behind him. How many times do I have to tell you? Every scene has advertising behind it. “(He screams at the assistant, that has by now lost track of how many companies have paid to have their products in the movie)
Paul Douglas: “I can’t breath; does this suit have to be so hot? Will someone listen to me”?( he screams looking at the crew, behind him a poster for a fizzy drink is being hastily glued on the wall, he has a tacky plasticky monster suit on, more like something you would hire for a Halloween party,)
Sue: “Stop, stop, stop, it’s the mobile phone poster here you idiot, can’t you understand English?” (The poster guy had changed so many advertising posters that he was physically and mentally exhausted, the advertising was paying for this movie and with so many companies involved the movie was already making money)
Big Bill: “What the hell is that? Take that down. We need a big poster here, this is a scene with the monster it’s prime advertising space.”
Tunnel worker: “Alright you lot. Times up we have to finish in here now. No more messing about everybody out. Oi you. Yeh you with the silly outfit, who you think you are? The incredible Hulk? Get the f..k out.” (Five tattooed builders move in to where the filming was taking place)
Big Bill: “Listen buddy you have no idea who you dealing with. I will finish your career, you will never get a job again.” (The builders break out in a frenzied laughter)
Tunnel worker: “Mate. What you think this is? F…ing Hollywood? “(Massive brawl erupts with the builder grabbing the Exec by the throat, wile the marketing woman bites a builder on the leg and everyone is now fighting under an unbearable heat)
Paul Douglas: ”Arrrrgh” (The author lifts his sharp claws to his face and then with one quick blow stabs the poster guy lifting him in the air with the sharp claws imbedded in his stomach. The camera man, the light man and every other man looks on in horror as the author has a mad look in his glazed eyes, as if he was the monster, the real monster).
Immediately the fighting stops and everyone now runs towards the author each person holding a part of him, two in each arm, three on the leg, one on the neck they restrain him as continues screaming like a mad man.
He manages to disentangle himself from everyone holding him and runs down the tracks into the dark tunnel.
Looking at the tunnel they all stare in shock and disbelieve of all that took place on the platform.
And that’s when they all hear that awful scream again, sending shivers down everyone’s spine. This time it was much louder, like if it was moving towards them, and suddenly from the dark tunnel the creature appears growling, with long fangs it was terrifying. It had long brown thick fur, a black mastiff dog type face with black eyes and walked like a gorilla but without touching the ground with its hands.
Was this the author? It couldn’t be. How could he have taken on the creature’s persona? It looked much menacing than before.
If it was the author in costume it now had a huge mouth that leaked sticky slobber and it had a prehistoric appearance.
It was strong too, it grabbed a near by tunnel worker and pulled off one of his
arms, like if it was a rag doll cloth, then throws the body 20 ft onto the tracks. The creature then manages to get hold of a cameraman and bites its neck.
Every one runs in different directions, down the corridors in total panic, tripping on each other as they scramble to get away from the creature…
Swamp-Town
I already have notes on my second book Swamp-Town.
It’s the story about three middle aged friends that grew up in a small picturesque swamp-town in Florida.
After graduating they all moved to big cities, New York, Chicago and L.A.
The natural beauty and family ties from home keeps them going back on holidays and any given opportunity.
The three friends, some divorced some with kids keep contact on networking sites until one day the urge to go back and leave the rat race in the big city is too tempting.
Once back home and after a few months of bonding the reality hits them. The tourists don’t come as before, there’s a recession, the once sleepy town is dying.
Mark worked in marketing, Jack in advertising and Peter worked in the film industry in special effects back in L.A.
The three come up with an ambitious plan to revive to towns fortunes and put it back on the map.
They create a new species of animal, a mix of lizard and dinosaur; in reality they dress a dog with a costume and using the phone camera upload the clip on the internet.
The antics get world wide attention and the town becomes a media circus and a tourist destination for the masses. With more ever more audacious clips, they turn the town in to a money making machine but the lies, deceit, affairs and betrays pile up and the pressure…
