“What’s new, you little witch?”
“And you love it…”
“Yes, yes, I do.”
Acknowlegements
In many countries of the world today, people can still not publicly reveal their sexuality, their differences from what others may consider the norm. Thankfully, after many long and hard-fought years, LGBTQ is recognised in so many nations, with more to follow. For what is love but simply an expression of human emotion, regardless of sexual identity, race, creed, colour among other things. Discrimination is unacceptable, in any form and should be fought hard whenever and wherever it occurs. We are all human and we have inalienable rights. These apply to all of us without exception.
With this, the fourth book in the Mackenna series, Bernadette endures as one of my most favourite characters, along with her partner Eve, her friend Imogen and D’Arcy. I make no pardon for the steamy nature or perhaps their kinks which is all part of the modern idiom in which we now live. I like contrasts and that’s perhaps why I contrast their private and public life in this way. Who doesn’t want to know what goes on behind closed doors? Witness the plethora of reality shows. I think they are larger than life but also, I feel they could be real. That’s how I like to portray them. I can imagine them having the conversations they have and doing the things they do.
The series is dedicated to love and courtroom drama. It’s not trying to change the world. It’s just written out of love. Love is love, and that’s all that matters. It comes in all forms, and I’ve simply tried to portray some of these. Bernadette Mackenna being gay is simply part of her story, it’s part of who she is. I hope you enjoy the romance, and the spice, and everything else, and the other characters. I hope you can love Bernadette too, and the other characters with it.
I would like to mention and acknowledge my good friend Kaitlyn who is a fellow writer and whom I met through Twitter. She is, in fact, a very talented writer and an all-round beautiful soul who is incredibly supportive of her friends. We’ve had some interesting chats about writing, and I hope one day she’ll get to this book and read this little piece which is to thank her very much for her friendship and support. We all have our own story, and life can break us, or we can move on and prosper. She chose the latter, I’m full of admiration for her ability to do that and try to see the good in everyone if she can.
