Sighing, I wandered down the hall and stopped alongside the bathroom door. The party had been enjoyable, but I needed a break from the festivities upstairs. I leaned against the wall, shoving my hands into the pockets of my trousers, and shut my eyes. The faint strains of the music upstairs drifted down to this floor, the subdued song making me want a lie-down. But I'd promised to stay for the entire party. In a minute or two, I'd go back upstairs.
The clacking of high heels on the wood floor roused me.
I opened my eyes.
Serena was sashaying toward me, her hips swaying and her head held high.
Those legs. Those breasts. What had I said about not giving in to my lust? I could have her once, purely to get her out of my system. Once I'd fucked her, she wouldn't seem so enticing anymore. She'd be nothing more than the uppity woman who refused to look at me.
Aye, one good fuck ought to do the trick.
She stopped in front of me. "Guarding the bathroom? Or are you trolling for loose women?"
"Neither. I'm taking a break from the party."
"Yeah, I've noticed you're a real party animal." She set a hand on her hip. "Hanging out in dark corners doesn't count as participating."
"Does fucking you count as participating?"
Her lip curled. "Tell me you didn't say what I think you said."
I waved toward a door down the hall. "Let's go into the cloakroom and have a poke."
She snapped her spine so straight so quickly I wondered if she'd dislocated a few vertebrae. And of course, she lifted her perfect little nose again. "You are the most disgusting man I have ever met."
"But would ye like to fuck?"
Serena Carpenter smacked me in the face. "Go to hell."
The lass stormed into the bathroom. The door banged shut behind her.
I rubbed my stinging cheek. Ah well, even I didn't strike gold every time. Since I would be seeing Serena again, considering she was the best friend of my cousin's wife, I might have another opportunity to shag her and get rid of this craving for her body.
Keely claimed Serena was a sweetheart.
Sweet? That woman was a bitch.
But someday I would get her naked. Someday soon.
