"Even if we had never taken you in such a manner, they might still have been born with these markings."
"Really?"
Cal joined the two of them on the bed, a wide grin on his face. "Ty's right. The markings aren't proof of anything."
Jax smiled. "No, you're wrong. The markings are proof of how beautiful these little ones are."
A knock at the door announced the arrival of Ty's parents and the rest of the family.
"How are you?" Demi asked as she swooped in and gave Jax a brief hug, mindful of the newborn in his arms.
"I'm doing well," Jax replied. "Tired, but good."
"I'm sure you are. We'll not keep you from sleeping for long, though. We just wanted to meet the newest members of the family."
She turned from the baby in Jax's arms to Cal. Her eyes widened as she looked between one baby and the other.
"We've not decided on names yet," Ty said. "We were thinking about choosing names from some of our grandparents."
Timon smiled approvingly. "That's very thoughtful of you." Like his mate, he did a double-take as he studied the babies.
Jax couldn't help feeling that they knew, but neither of them said anything and he certainly wasn't going to bring it up.
Ty leaned over to nuzzle him. "Relax, baby."
As the minutes passed, Jax stopped worrying about what people would think of the markings of his litter. Instead, he concentrated on the fact that he had just given his mates two beautiful, healthy babies. He rested a hand on Ty's belly and felt movement beneath his fingers. It wouldn't be long before they were welcoming Ty's litter, too.
With their older children playing at his feet, a loving family surrounding him, and his newborn baby in his arms, Jax had never been happier. From the expressions on the faces of his mates, he could tell they felt exactly the same.
