More Than a Cowboy (The Carmody Brothers Book 3) Page 29

by Sarah Mayberry

He understood a little of where Jed was coming from. The other man had pushed Mae away thirteen years ago, and she’d gone on to forge a new life for herself—complete with a thriving forensic accounting consultancy and a high-flying fiancé. Jed had never confided in Garret, but Garret suspected Jed figured he’d had his shot at Mae and messed it up. What right did he have to rock the boat she’d built for herself?

“He drives me crazy sometimes,” Sierra said, still frowning.

Garret pulled her back into his arms. She came willingly, her frown falling away.

“Allow me to distract you from the crazy,” he said. Then he kissed her, and she melted against him, hot and willing.

“What time’s your first charter tomorrow morning?” he asked.

Now they weren’t commuting, he’d found a way to generate income for Tate Transport and give Sierra her dream at the same time. Most days she flew charter flights out of Helena, ferrying people to Big Sky and other tourist destinations, or flying scenic routes over the abundant natural beauty that surrounded Helena. Business had been slow initially, but word had started getting out lately and all the indicators were that the Bell would soon be adding a nice little bump to the bottom line at Tate Transport.

“I don’t have to be at the airport till nine,” Sierra said. “Why? What have you got in mind?”

He smiled and shook his head. “That would be telling. You’ll have to wait till we get home.”

Not that the lake house would be home for much longer. It was currently on the market, waiting for someone with fifteen million dollars and a hankering for a view to come along. Once that happened, he and Sierra would find somewhere more their speed to live.

  “Tease.”

“Takes one to know one,” he said, because she was more than capable of a little sensual torture herself.

She laughed, her green eyes dancing, and he had to dip his head to kiss her again.

“I fucking love you so much,” he said against her lips.

Her fingers wove into his hair and their kiss became fierce and fiery. When they came up for air she pressed her forehead against his, her hands still tight in his hair. “I love you too. So much. So much.”

It was a perfect moment, the latest in a series of perfect moments he’d had with this woman, and he let himself savor it—the feel of her body against his, the cool fall air on his face, the blue arc of Montana sky overhead, the knowledge that she was going to be by his side for the rest of his life, up for whatever adventures or challenges came their way.

It was going to be a beautiful, wild ride—and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
