Devoted To You Page 8

“Oh yes, for sure.” I smile at him. This is the pill you take the day after when you’ve had unprotected sex.

  Uneasiness starts filling me.

“Here is a bottle of water.” He hands me it, and I take the pill.

Whatever that was about, the sex, the dinner, the shower. All of those moments were the best moments of my life, because despite his mystifying behavior, there is chemistry between us, one that I really can’t explain but it felt real, like he trusted me to bring me to his home, like he needed to be saved.

  CHAPTER 8

  Alyssa

The best thing about having a best friend like Jason is the fact that he never makes me feel faulty about my decisions or mistakes. This morning before leaving for work, I called Jason and told him about what happened between me and Liam, and he was so proud of me, like what an amazing thing that I finally lost my V card and to whom? To one of New York’s billionaires, I should consider it an accomplishment that’s what he said. But for me, it was deeper than that, it was the fact that I wanted to stay with him, wrapped up in his arms and spend every single moment with him. I wanted more and I keep wanting more, which is terrible because I knew, way before engaging in any sexual or emotional relationship with him, that if I was to take this path I would be digging my own grave with my own hands. Our night together yesterday showed me a different him, Liam had a soft side that people never get to experience, especially the ones that know him only on a professional level. He doesn’t like to talk about his feelings, I get it, but his family? And what about the sadness that haunted him as soon as I mentioned his mother? There is so much more to him than just the cocky, business billionaire he portrays himself to be, and somehow, I want to unlock his fears, I want to take his hurting, his troubles, and his burden away for once and for all, but I didn’t tell this to Jason, because he would start giving me a lesson on feelings and heartbreaks and how to separate sex from my emotional feelings. He would also explain to me that men like Liam are major heart-breakers, cold-blooded mother fuckers who would hurt anybody if it was for their own advantage, which I happen to know all of these things already. I knew since the beginning that I would only be hurting myself by being involved with Liam. I knew he would be the end of me. But I just can’t seem to stop myself, just like an addiction, despite the fact that I am fully aware that he is sweet poison to me, I keep wanting to have more of him.

Liam Adams will be the death of me.

“Morning,” a voice echoes from the door that catches my immediate attention.

“Hi, Mr. Ainsworth.” I get up from my chair. “What can I do for you?” He approaches me slowly with a smug face, his eyes pinned on my cleavage,

Here we go again, another goddamn pervert.

“Is he here?” He points out to Liam’s office.

“No, he is not here yet, can I take a message?”

“I just wanted to talk to him about the Cohen deal because I got an update.” He pauses. “Do you know when he will be here?” he asks.

I take a glance at the time on my cellphone. “He should be here in ten to fifteen minutes.”

“Great.” He takes a seat in one of the chairs across from my desk, facing me. He forces a smile that turns my stomach. He is going to be sitting in front of me, staring at me while I answer the pile of emails that I have received over the weekend, and I am not too sure how I feel about it.

  “Coffee, tea, anything to drink?”

He crosses one leg over the other. “No, thank you.”

I smile and I turn to my left, facing my computer. Besides the fact that he has great taste in clothes, this man is the definition of trouble. He is handsome, stylish, but not that tall. His blue eyes are fierce and speak all kinds of dirty. What is it with these men anyway? They are all possessive, sexy, and would sweep anybody off their feet, especially Ainsworth. I think he is worse than Liam. He looks like a player and acts like one, no shame in his game. I remember the night at the venue when he stuck out a hand to shake mine and wouldn’t let me go. He held my hand so tight, making me feel all kinds of malaise, I remember thinking how handsome he looked that night but nothing compares to Liam’s beautiful dark features and perfectly shaped torso. I bite my lip while thinking about how hot he looked while he towered over me and fucked me on his sofa.

Gary says something, but I am not listening.

  “I beg your pardon?”

“I asked, how do you like it so far?” His smug face expression is not reassuring as it doesn’t leave his face.

“I do like it.” I pause. “I mean… I am still new so there is a lot to learn, but I’m getting there.”

“Good.” He looks down and up again, his eyes are sparky as he rubs his hands together. “Is it fun to work for Liam?”

“Yes, it is for sure.” I swallow. “He is a good boss.” And by that, I mean he is good at everything, including sex.

“I am glad he is not giving you a hard time,” he adds. “You are the first female assistant he’s ever hired!”

  “Really?” Shock crosses my face.

“Yup, he doesn’t really usually get along with women because he can be very tough, and women tend to be emotional.” He pauses. “So you are number one, so far.”

“Well… Glad to hear that.” I don’t know if I should consider this conversation flirtatious or friendly, but I am sure as hell he’s up to no good. His body language is telling that he wants to know more about me, him asking about whether I like the job or not is just the start of it. I know what game he’s playing, I might not have dated in the past, but that doesn’t mean that I am clueless to the games that men play. What is this place anyway? This is the first time I get hired at a company where the majority, if not all, men think with their dicks. All they want to do is fuck. Liam said he never slept with any of his staff before, but why me? Out of all the gorgeous women who work here, he chose me.

“Morning.” Liam shows up with two cups of coffee again, one in each hand. Joy wells up in my heart, but once again, I forgot to get the coffee myself. He narrows his eyes as they travel from Ainsworth to me.

I stand up. “Good morning, Mr. Adams.”

“Gary, what are you doing here?” And by his tone, I realize he is annoyed with Gary. He hands me a coffee cup; his eyes are blazing and don’t leave Gary.

“Morning, Liam, I was just waiting for you. I got an update on the Harrington’s deal.”

“So you decided to stay here and wait for me?” His eyes are cold and dangerous, like he is certain just like I am that Gary is up to no good.

Gary stands up. “I was chatting with Alyssa here, making sure you are not being a rude bastard to her.” He laughs uproariously, but Liam’s facial expression is still neutral. He must not like him at this moment. Without a word, Liam starts walking toward his office, and Gary follows him and shuts the door behind them.

I take a sip of my coffee while smiling. I feel a surge of joy filling me. He thought about me and decided to stop by and get the two of us a coffee, maybe he is just trying to be nice, or he feels empathy toward me after I gave him myself last night, whatever his intention is, he makes me happy just by being himself.

  I sound ridiculous.

I really needed this coffee anyway. I’ve been working since 6 a.m. this morning but at least I ended up getting a lot of things done.

I shift my focus to this letter that I have been trying to write for the past hour. Only, if Gary hadn’t interrupted me with his appearance, I would have been done by now. The phone rings, and I sigh. I am never going to finish writing this. I look at the call display and I see Liam’s extension. My heart skips a beat as I pick it up. “Yes, Mr. Adams?”

  “Can you come here?”

“Right away,” I say right before hanging up and grabbing my notepad from my purse. I adjust my skirt and get inside his office. Liam is seated on his chair, and Gary is sitting on one of the chairs across from him. They both turn their attention to me. Suddenly I start feeling shy and nervous so
I clear my throat and look at Liam “What can I do for you?”

“I need you to start working on the contract that will be given to the Harringtons since we ended up landing the deal.” He pauses. “Make sure you pass it by our legal department before you bring it to me so I can sign it.”

“I should be able to finish it in two days,” I add. “I started working on it yesterday.”

“But how did you know we were going to land the deal? I only got the news this morning.” Gary raises a brow.

“The company never loses deals.” I look at Liam. “And whatever Mr. Adams wants, he gets, so I assumed we were going to win this one too.”

  Liam throws half a smile.

“Good girl.” Gary turns his head to face Liam. “Now I feel like I need to steal this one from you.”

“Is that what you normally do with your weekends, Alyssa?” says Liam while placing both arms on the desk and putting his hands together. I shiver with desire as he eyes me up and down.

“I was bored yesterday, and I couldn’t sleep much so I decided to work a little bit.”

“And what was keeping you up?” He looks at me with a smug expression. Like he already knows the answer to his question but he’d rather hear it coming from me. Like he enjoys watching me fight my body that is clenching with desire. All kinds of thoughts, emotions, and memories of last night are coming back into life while I stand right in front of him.

“I just couldn’t.” My voice sounds timid and shaky.

“A secret lover?” Gary tilts his head and narrows his eyes.

“No, I don’t have a lover.” I sigh gently. “Anything else you want me to do?” I glance at Liam whose eyes are still glued to me. If I didn’t enjoy his looks, this would have probably been a harassment case. But instead, his looks are the only thing I want, the only thing I need.

“Yes.” He pauses. “My schedule for the day, Gary and I are done here,” he adds

“Yes, we are done.” Gary stands up and heads toward the door. As soon as his hand touches the door handle, he turns to face me. “Nice talk, Alyssa.”

I smile and nod politely before he gets out and closes the door. I turn around to face Liam who gets up from his chair. He tugs his hands in his pockets and raises his chin.

  “Lock the door,” he instructs.

“I am just going to get the agenda and I’ll…”

“I said lock the door.” His voice is coldly authoritative. I do as he says and turn to face him. My arms are behind my back.

“Come over here.” His voice is flat. I do exactly as he asked. I start walking toward him slowly. I stand inches away from him, arms still behind my back while heat courses between us. His eyes travel up and down my body and then they get fixed on my cleavage. He grabs a lock of my hair. “You said earlier, that whatever I want, I get.” He pauses. “Is that correct?” he asks, enjoying his dominance. I nod helplessly, my body begging for more as his fingers travel down my arm and into my hand.

“You were right about that.” He pulls me closer to him, his arms around my waist and his erection is hot and thick against my stomach, which makes my body shiver. “And now I want you.” His voice is a whisper. His lips find their way to mine as he pulls up my skirt. His tongue circles mine, and every cell of my body vibrates with thirst for him to be inside me. To own me.

He picks me up and sits me on top of his desk. I open my legs as wide as I can, and he gets right in between them. His tongue travels down to my neck and his hand grabs my hair and pulls my head back. I moan with pleasure while his thick tongue tastes me in long licks. He shoves his hand in my panties, and I sob uncontrollably while he fingers me, possessing every inch of my body and playing with it like it was his, like I was his doll.

  “Say my name,” he orders.

  “Liam,” I whisper.

“Is this what kept you up all night?” He pulls his fingers out. “You’re so fucking wet.” He puts them back inside me, but this time, he adds a third one.

  “Answer me,” he commands.

“Yes,” I say, my voice trembling. “Please don’t stop,” I beg. I want more, but whatever I am feeling is indescribable. He doesn’t let me climax. Instead, he slides his fingers out from between my legs, he picks up a condom from his pocket, rips the plastic cover with his teeth and right after he wore it, he replaces his warm fingers with his thick cock, slamming inside of me. I moan even harder with pain and pleasure, as he pushes his tongue deeper inside my mouth.

“I can’t get enough of you,” he whispers.

“Neither can I.” My eyes are glued to him as he fucks me, harder than ever, this time he isn’t soft or genuine, he is rough and even more possessive. My body has been craving this forever, like I saved myself for the past years, only to be owned by him.

I close my eyes to catch my breath, sweat dripping between my legs and my breasts as I adjust my skirt and fixe my top. Liam is on the other side, cleaning up. He doesn’t say a word after our intimate moment, and right before I head toward the door I say, “Let me know if you need anything.” He doesn’t look at me but keeps fastening his tie. I get out and head straight to the washroom where I freshen up.

The door makes a creaking noise as I am fixing up my makeup.

“Hey you!” I say to Sofia who looks sad, bags underneath her eyes from lack of sleep. She looks extremely tired and tears fill her eyes as she approaches me.

“Oh my god! Sofia are you okay? What happened?” I hate seeing people I care about cry in pain. It happens to be my worst nightmare.

“My husband lost his job, and I am really worried about him,” she adds. “He just seems really depressed, and it hurts me so much to see him that way.” She starts crying, and I hold her tight in my arms.

“I am so sorry to hear that, Sofia, but why are you still here then, why are you at work?” I ask furiously.

“I have so much work to do.” She looks down, and I raise her chin up.

“You’re gonna go to your desk, and you’re gonna send me an email with all the work that you have and I will take care of it for you, do you understand?”

“No, Alyssa, I can’t do that, you’re drowning in work yourself.” She wipes her tears away.

“I don’t care how much work I have,” I add. “This place can burn down, for all I care. You and your husband matter, so go and take care of him.” She throws herself in my arms and I felt her sorrow. Sofia is a great person, and I know how much love she has for her husband. They have been together for seventeen years, and she told me that their love only grows stronger with time. They are the true definition of a successful marriage.

I walk with her to her desk and stay with her until she leaves for the day. I head back to mine and notice an old woman, she looks like she would be in her sixties, waiting in the lobby for someone to help her out. I notice Liam’s office is closed and the curtains are shut. As soon as she sees me approaching her, she gets up quickly, her mouth drops open with surprise and shock like she had just seen a ghost.

“Hi, ma’am, how may I help you?”

“Hi... umm my name is Sancha.” She stares at me, and I gotta admit it is a little bit creepy, but she has a cute Spanish accent.

I shake her hand. “And I am Alyssa, Mr. Adams’ assistant.” I smile genuinely, but her big brown eyes don’t stop eyeing me.

“Are you here for Mr. Adams?”

“Yes I am,” she replies with a smile.

I dial his extension. The phone rings once, and he picks up.

  “What’s up?”

“I have a lady here by the name of Sancha. She…”

“Coming up.” He hangs up the phone before I even get to finish my sentence. He gets out of his office, wearing the biggest smile I have ever seen on his face, his eyes sparkling with joy as he walks toward her and takes her into his arms.

“Aaah, Liam.” She lets out a sigh of love and relief. “I missed you so much,” she adds.

“I missed you too, about time you came to visit.” I have
never seen him this happy. This woman, whoever she is, must mean so much to him.

“Liam.” Sancha turns to face me. “She looks so much like her,” she adds. “You look a lot like her.” She smiles.

“I look like who?” I glance at both her and Liam, looking confused.

“Come on, Sancha, let’s go inside.” He walks her to his office and shuts the door behind them, totally ignoring my question. My body shivers with doubt. Who is this girl that I look so much like to the point that Sancha looked at me like I was some kind of ghost who appeared suddenly in front of her when she least expected it, an ex-girlfriend of Liam? An ex-lover?

  More secrets?

I pick up the phone and dial my grandma’s number. The phone rings five times before it goes to voicemail. I hang up, a sigh of impatience and disappointment escaping my mouth. I just need to speak to someone, maybe they would help relieve the uneasiness my body is suffering from at the moment. I dial Jason’s number and he picks up. Thank god.

  “Hey, J.”

  “Hey, you.”

  “How’s work today?” I ask.

“Ugh. So busy, I have about three minutes to spare, so make it quick.”

“Nothing, I just can’t stop thinking about yesterday.” Which is true, but I also just discovered that Liam has more secrets, and this one is about some girl who I happen to look very much like.

“It’s normal, sis, it’s a big deal for you. You’re no virgin no more, welcome to the club,” he giggles, which eases my anxiety a little.

“Anyway, I’ll let you go, you’re a busy man.”

“Okay, but hey! I still need the details!” he says.

“Of course I’ll tell you all about it when I see you, bye for now.”

We end the conversation, but my head is still re-playing Sancha’s comment. I wanna know who Sancha is and who is this girl that looks exactly like me. I try to think about when I went to his house, besides the picture that I saw in his living room of him as a baby and the woman in it, his mother. I couldn't really see her face since she was looking the other way, and I can't think of any other woman. But again, I barely know anything about him yet we happen to be so close, making love not once, but twice. He doesn’t tell me anything about his life. He is all kinds of strange and of course, he wouldn’t share anything with me, especially if it has to do with an ex-girlfriend of his. All I get from him is sex and if I was to choose between that or nothing at all, then of course I would keep sleeping with him, even if it meant hope, desire, and this constant cruel feeling of wanting more from him and knowing very well that it is beyond my reach.
