The Godsend Backfire: The Beginning Page 1

by Harold Straugh

My name is Roldian McFarland and I've been around for way too long. I've grown tired but I can’t sleep. I don’t care too much for mankind, but they’re only part of my problem. I’ve my very best with translating and putting words that didn’t exist where they should have gone. This is the story of my life, the hurt, the adventure, the love all of it. It’s raw and disturbing and as unbelievable as it may seem, it’s real and it all happened because I was there and I know.

I'm about to begin this story from the get go, where it all began, back when we had no time. No known, accurate record of this time existed. It was far back, and I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but Adam and Eve were not the first humans made, they were the first Nephilim. It wasn’t even Adam and Eve, it was Adam, Eve and Lilith. Lilith was the daughter of Lucifer, and Lilith was the apple that Eve took a bite of, she was a metaphor. Men and women were on earth long before Jehovah showed up. He wiped most of them out, kept a few around for the rebuild, as I called it. There may be mention of Gods in this book, but it is anything but a religious book.

My brothers and I were divided into three groups, being at the time it was only me and my brothers that were immortal, there were of course the vampires (one brother), then of course the werewolves (the other brother) and then my class. I never got an official name for my group, but most commonly, we were referred to as Nephilim and sometimes "Sons of Jehovah".

Now I tell you for those non-believers Jehovah is real, but Jehovah is not great. Jehovah isn’t just a god, but one of many gods. The whole of story of Jesus was wrong to an extent, Jesus was sacrificed but not to have our sins forgiven, not even Jehovah can help with that, but to show Jehovah has no mercy. If he was willing to sacrifice his son, he is willing to sacrifice everyone else.

I can still remember what Paradise used to look like, but I can’t remember Jehovah’s face, just his eyes. His eyes were no particular color, but every color, mixing and swirling, his eyes seemed alive. They almost looked like a galaxy within them. I also remember Lucifer, he wasn't always all hellfire and brimstone. He used to be very nice. There came a time when we all divided, my two brothers went with Lucifer and I was brought up to stay with Jehovah. Over time of myself growing, I became curious on how I came to be. So, one day I asked.

"Lucifer led some angels down from Paradise and they fell in love with humans, even Lucifer himself mated with a human woman. I wanted the race there to be pure and Lucifer and the rest were corrupting them. The humans found out about Lucifer and the rest and a murderous rage took over, something I didn't expect from them. They didn't want anything superior over them and once they found out they could kill, I feared for your lives. I managed to send Michaël down and swoop you up but your brothers stayed. You've been here ever since, of course now you know, Lucifer and your brothers reside there and now that you have lived past the age of mortality, your immortality has kicked in."

I was still young at mind, so I didn't quite understand the meaning of what "Immortality" was. Jehovah explained to me my purpose, I was to watch over the humans, keep my brothers in line and if needed strike them down.

Now Paradise wasn't what its been believed to be either. It's not all pearly gates, white and purity, Earth is or was a perfect likeness to Paradise. Everything on Earth was made in God's image, it was an exact mirror from the greenest grass to the highest mountain from one animal to the next. Now Jehovah did not create Paradise, it was created by other Gods for him. There are more than one and they are spread throughout the stars. Despite what most believe we are not the only intelligent life and from what I've seen, not the most intelligent either. The story of Adam and Eve was a safeguard story to stray those from the truth. If anyone honestly believes humans came from family members screwing each other and we are all brothers and sisters, they’re an inceptual idiot and should probably seek help.

Some many of years had passed, then came the time I remember most, my first day on Earth. On Earth, it was getting night and I was just outside the village of Zoar. I was standing at the edge of a sea there, now known as the Dead Sea. I could feel the sand under my feet start to cool as the sun went down and the people of Zoar, instead of putting the fire out, made it bigger. A group of people walked around the village lighting large fires at the corners. Then a village gathered and prayed in the middle of the village.

"Hello brother!" I heard from behind me.

I was shocked to see my brother Derium standing there behind me. He looked different from the last time I had seen him, his eyes black instead of blue, his skin a pale white instead of tan. My skin was white as well, but his was so much paler than mine. He smiled, and his once white teeth were stained red and I noticed he had fangs, much like a snake.

"Brother....what has happened to you?" I asked.

"Our father done this to me. He took away everything I loved, the sunlight, the silver, my love for humans. Now I catch fire if I touch the sunlight, silver burns right through me and I have to feed from humans to stay alive."

"Thou should not speak evil of our father, he would not do such a thing."

"Oh brother, you are still too blind to see, but if you won't see the truth in me, see the truth in what he done to our other brother." Derium motioned and nodded to something behind me. I turned around and looked and there stood my other brother Mylicious.

"He looks fine to me Derium..." I said then watched as Mylicious transformed into a wolf, a rather massive wolf at that.

I heard his bones crack as he changed, his jaw popped out of socket and his facial bones cracked as well as his nose grew into a snout. His teeth fell out as sharper teeth took their spots. His eyes grew wide and yellow and he let out a howl as his transformation completed. His old teeth turned to dust and disappeared. He stood there, looking at me as I looked back at him. His heavy, growl-like breaths concerned me greatly. He took a step forward, as I took a step back because my caution went up.

"What's wrong brother?" he spoke to me in my mind, "Are you afraid?"

"I sense as if you want to cause harm to me brother, I don't know why, but I love you anyway."

"We love you as well, which is why we haven't killed you. Lucifer loves you as well brother, he wishes you'd come be with us. Jehovah is no good for you." Derium said, wiping the blood from his mouth.

He took a step towards me and I no longer felt safe, I stepped back and thought of Paradise, but nothing happened, when I opened my eyes I was still on Earth, looking at my brothers, Derium with a crooked smile on his face and I couldn't tell if Mylicious was smiling but he was growling. So, I used my swiftness and fled, fled far away, to a different part of Earth where I felt was safe. I could still hear them though in my head.

"Ohhhh brother! we weren't going to hurt you, we have plans for you."

"You must stop killing and seeding with the humans, pleeeease I beg of you!" I pleaded.

"We did not do this to us, he did," Derium hissed.

I shut them out after that, I didn't want to hear anymore blasphemous things against my father. I thought of Paradise again and was denied once more, I didn't understand why but told myself I hadn't finished what I had come to Earth to do and that's why Father wasn't allowing me back up in Heaven. I prayed to Father and asked for safety. I prayed until the sun came up, stayed in the light, feeling safe by it, until it went down and headed back to where my brothers were. I sensed something was way off from the minute I could see the town. It was empty, all the dead bodies from the night before were gone, my brothers weren't responding to my calls, both physically and mentally. I could pick up a presence though, it was dark and nearby. I walked around the town a little bit, I noticed around every little hut the dirt was disturbed.
Graves lined the outside of the huts, the dark sense grew, it was like a vibration almost when I got closer to the graves. Whatever was in those graves they were evil. The amount of evilness that came from them made me upset to my stomach.

I felt Mylicious’s presence, “Brother, where are you?” I asked.

  “Over here,” he responded.

I looked to my right and there stood Mylicious, he looked scared, his wavy brown hair, matted with blood, his eyes were back to being brown, but were just as wide as he if were the wolf again. His shirt, once being white, was torn and covered in blood. He walked with a limp but as he got closer I heard the bone pop and it straightened his walk. I didn’t sense any harm from him, so when he brought his arms up to hug me, I embraced him. He sobbed uncontrollably in my arms, I consoled him the best I could, but it didn’t’ feel good enough.

“What is wrong my brother?” I asked.

“Look at what Derium and I have done, we’ve buried most of them, but can you sense it? Can you sense the evil that lurks in those graves?” he asked, scared.

“I can, where is Derium?” I asked not sensing his presence, nor was he responding to my calls.

“He’s in a grave on the outside of Sodom. He won’t stop killing. Lucifer told him to let a few taste his blood and see what happened.” Mylicious said.

“What happened?” I asked curious, but I feared I knew the answer already.

He pointed to the graves, “Those are what happened. They’re like him and the ones bitten and not killed, have healed from one day to the next. I’ve tried to stop Roldian, I can’t, the lust is too great.” He cried, “You know I use to enjoy full moons, but now I just get really hungry and want to take every woman that comes within sight of me.”

“That’s horrible Mylicious,” I said, then looked up and noticed the moon was full. A sickening sound of bones snapping came to my ear as Mylicious pulled away.

“RUN BROTHER!” he screamed and shoved me from him as he started to change right before me. I watch, frozen in fear. Finally, I was able to move and pushed myself against the sand. I used my speed to get away and headed towards the next town.

There I found a grave just on the outskirts of Sodom, it was once a lush and providing town. The sand turned to green grass and fern style plants. The grave was right at the border line of the sand and grass. I had missed Derium, but then I heard some screams. I raced to them and found Derium with his mouth around the neck of one of villagers of Sodom. I watched, as the person reached out for me and I done nothing. I watched as Derium took the villagers life.

“STOP!” I yelled but it was too late, Derium let go of the villager and I watched it fall to the ground.

“Well, well, well brother what have we here?” he licked the blood from his lips.

“Why are you killing so many people?”

“I’m not just killing, but changing. I’m looking for answers brother,” he said and placed his hands behind his back.

  “Answers?”

“Where Lilith is. Lucifer wants all his children back.”

“How many does he have?” I asked.

He smiled, “More than you know.”

“How do you get answers from feeding from them?”

“When I feed from them, their whole life-story comes into me, someone knows where Lilith is buried….” That was all he could get out before he got tackled by Mylicious.

The two ensued in battle and I headed to Sodom to warn the people there. When I got there though, there were two or three other vampires, feeding off the villagers. I didn’t know how to fight, so I acted accordingly and threw the vampires off. They regrouped and came at me, but luckily, they stopped and that’s when I noticed Derium, looking at them.

“At my command they will rip you apart,” he smiled, a sinister smile.

“Then why don’t you do it?” I asked.

“Because, like I said, we have plans for you.”

I looked for Mylicious and saw him laying on the ground some fifty-yards away, he was in wolf form and changing back to human. I could hear his heartbeat, so he wasn’t dead, just beaten. I looked back at Derium and took a step forward, then the rest of the vampires took a step forward.

I didn’t know it but the rest of the villagers of Sodom took notice and picked up pitchforks, axes and whatever else they could grab ahold of. They formed a crowd behind me. The vampires made a move and once again I didn’t know how to fight, but I threw a punch anyways. I caught one, square in the head and it went flying off while its body continued into the crowd, they tore it apart, tossed its limbs into the fire. Derium screamed out in anger and attacked a few more people before talking to me in my head, as a fight broke out.

  “You take their side brother?”

“I’m not taking any sides, he attacked me first.”

Then Mylicious appeared out of nowhere back in his wolfen form and started to grab onto vampires and villagers alike and tossed them around. Then, he stood up on two legs, took a deep breath and then let out a loud howl. Everyone stopped, except Derium who had a broken, pitchfork, shaft through his gut and was pinned to the ground. By the grace of Jehovah, I was unscathed, my clothes ripped and tattered, but I, myself, wasn’t hurt.

Mylicious walked over on all fours, he grabbed the shaft with his mouth and yanked it out, freeing Derium, but he didn’t move. Mylicious nudged him with his nose. Derium came to, slowly climbed on top of Mylicious and straddled him. Mylicious shot me a hateful glance, then the two turned around.

“If you know what’s good for you, you will stay away for a while,” Mylicious said in my head.

I watched as they disappeared into the dark. My concentration was broken with hand being placed on my shoulder. I turned, and the villagers of Sodom were standing behind me. They spoke in what would now be considered Hebrew language, but I have taken the time to translate it.

“You fought against those monsters, but you, yourself are not man.” One man said, he was dark complexed, he had a thick, uni-brow and a burly mustache and dark brown eyes. He had a torch and his hand moved from my shoulder to my face and he gave my slight slap, “I thank you!”

“Stay with us for the rest of night and help us until day? We know then we will be safe,” a female villager said, “You can sleep in my hut if you wish.”

“Sleep? What is that?” I asked, which caused a lot them of them to laugh, but I was honest, I didn’t know what they were talking about. Ever since I had been on Earth, I never have experienced this “Sleep” everyone talks about.

The villagers brought me around a fire in the center of the village. There were twelve huts to this village, all not to far from the lake. There were two huts that reeked of fish, by the lake. Villagers would go in and out of it, bringing fish and other meats to the fire. They offered me fish, but I didn’t know the meaning of eating either, for I had no appetite. I guess I could say I had no appetite with food, but with knowledge. It was this that fueled me to stay more than one day in Sodom and helped out.

As I was by the fire another villager came up to me, “Hello, my name Al Hubarb, you helped save my wife tonight and our unborn child, I thank you. We don’t have much to offer, but we do have an extra donkey you can have. He can help you when you weary, and you can ride him to the wherever you are going.”

I knew of donkey’s only from Jehovah’s teachings and being around, watching Nephilim spread, some use to eat them, but I soon found myself fond of the donkey that, at first, I refused, “I can’t take your donkey, I was only helping” I said as a cool breeze from the lake, brought the smell of dead fish to my nose.

“In our village, if someone offers you a gift and you refuse, it’s insulting, but since you are new here, we will give you another chance,” Al Hubarb said, “We offer you a donkey, do you accept?”

“Yes” I said. He stuck out his hand and I took it, he led me away from the fire.

“I just want to talk to you. We all know you aren’t from here, but we are thankful. Other vill
ages, especially Gomorrah, are not so friendly. We share a Hall in the middle of our two villages and we often meet there every fifth day. I will come with you if you want when you leave, and help you out there. I can talk and get you granted safe passage,” Al Hubarb said.

“I thank you, that would be much appreciated,” I said at the time, even though I was worried about my brother’s chaos and this plan with Lilith.

He led me to a hut where there were three donkeys tied up outside. He pointed to one on the far right, he was small, and I didn’t think I would be able to ride him. He was gray in color with white spots here and there, he almost looked cow-like in appearance. He looked at me and made the awful noises donkeys make.

“I haven’t named him yet, I think I will leave that at up to you,” Al Hubard said.

I looked at the donkey and he looked at me. He made that awful noise again. The noise was wretched to my ears. I didn’t know what to name him, so I thought of the first thing that came my mind, “I think I shall call him, Wretch.”

“Odd name but he’s your donkey now. I’m going to go lay down, too much excitement for one night. Are you coming?” he asked and pointed.

“No, as promised I will stand, make sure the rest of the village is safe.”

“Tomorrow, I’m going to the bazaar. You can’t travel being so white, you must hide yourself. Then if you are still here in three days, I will take you to the Hall.”

“That sounds interesting.” I said, looking at Wretch.

It was then he went into his hut and I walked over to the lake with Wretch. I watched the full moon ripple off the water as I sat upon Wretch, much like a stool, with my legs off to one side. I couldn’t ride him as suspected; my feet would drag. I decided to wait until Al Hubarb took me to the Hall to leave. I wanted to stick around a few days to see if Derium and Mylicious would come back, even though throughout the night, I heard screams here and there. I believed it to be trick to get me away from Sodom.

It was late in the night, early in the morning when I heard something and grunt and a groan, off in the distance. Wretch had fallen asleep, which left me standing. Now I don’t have the special eyes like Derium and Mylicious so seeing in the night wasn’t the greatest. I could only see as far as the moonlight let me see. I could see the pale white skin, arms and head of whatever was coming towards me. It was crawling on the bank, coming towards me. I got up, I sensed the evil coming from it. It was one of Derium’s creations.
