“Always,” he said, eyes never straying an inch from hers.

She moistened her lips, feeling her throat tighten. Her thumb trailed lightly over his hand. “Then, yes. I’ll marry you, Adrian.”

  The End

  Author’s Note

  Dear Reader,

Halt! Don’t be alarmed! There is a sequel! Indeed, Book Two of the Torn Asunder Series will be available to you soon. I certainly hope the journey was enjoyable for you and that you will be interested to see what happens next to Shannon (a great deal!) and Adeline (a bunch!).

One thing I must note is that I took historical license with the date of Rose O’Neal Greenhow’s arrest to suit my own timeline. I have her placed on house arrest in November of 1861, while, in real life, those events took place in August of that year. I hope you’ll forgive me! Another thing to note is that while some of the characters were real people, any actions or words portrayed are of my own devising.

I love the Lowcountry and the Sea Islands. Drayton Hall was the inspiration for Santarella, and Middleton Place features as itself. Both are exquisite and meticulously cared for, inside and out, and I encourage you to visit them and experience their charms.

I would like to thank my sister, Hannah, for being my first reader always and for brutally scenting out my literary weaknesses and knowing just how to fix them. I am thankful we are sympatico. We have been on this journey together since you were eleven years old, and you know this would not be possible without you.

Thank you also to my brother, Matt, for whose support and encouragement through the considerable ordeals of law school and the Bar Exam I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude. Thank you, in addition, for marrying Beth and giving us a wonderful addition to our family, and for having Catherine, the light of our lives.

Thanks to my mom for her skillful editing and sharp eye for anything remotely smacking of the wrong era. And thank you to both my mom and dad for always encouraging, supporting, and loving me selflessly. Your sacrifice through the years has been boundless.

Thank you to my Lord and Savior, my stronghold, who has shown me what freedom looks like. All I am and all I ever hope to be is because of Your transforming love.

And I would like to thank you, Dear Reader, for taking the time to read my book. You have given me an honor that I do not take lightly, and never will, as I continue writing tales which I hope you will enjoy.

  Much love,

  Tara
