The Maple Effect Page 46

by Madeleine Cull

Summer is about growing up, mostly. Sometimes it's about family, and sometimes it’s about friends. Sometimes it's about love and loss, or the sound of cicadas in the heat of July. It's about what turns the leaves from green to orange; the moments faded to memories captured in an old photograph.

Aaron took the envelope from June, gestured with a nod of his chin toward the inside of the coffee shop, and knew that this time, he was here to stay.

  The End.

  Acknowledgments

The Maple Effect was a project that started way back in 2014 as my very first webcomic. Back then I was lucky enough to establish a fanbase, which later helped motivate me to rewrite this story as a novel (with many of the plot changes that I wished I would have had the guts to put in from the beginning). In 2019 I launched a Kickstarter to help fund the editing, printing, and publishing of this novel, and while I want to thank EVERYONE who pledged, these people, in particular, deserve extra kudos. Without you, this story would not have been possible.

Sharon Stogner. My friend, long-term fan, and brilliant editor of this book.

Laura Curley, who has watched my every creative step along the way. Her loving, generous mother, Linda.

And the Kickstarter fans who have backed this project with boundless enthusiasm.
