After long minutes of ascending, the elevator slowed down and suddenly stopped. The four passengers stepped out of it. The sight in front of them was shocking. The gigantic hangar was more than half a mile long. There were several spacecrafts stored in the enormous hall, including small UFO-like scouts and the thousand feet long, cigar-shaped mother ship, which amazed them with its size. It had a light metallic color, five red lights on the front and several small and round windows on each side. The hangar was lit with strong lamps on both sides. There was a control center-like high building on the right, close to the wall. There were mostly technicians working in the hangar, but they could see a few armed guardians too. While the technicians were checking and fixing the vehicles if necessary, the guardians were responsible for safety. They used an oval vehicle floating in the air to commute.
Rokina went to an empty vehicle and got in, the others followed her. They settled comfortably, the girl gave a verbal command and they headed towards the central tower. Navigating between the spacecrafts, they quickly reached their destination. The girl inserted her green card at the machine next to the entrance. The machine displayed a holographic image of a reptilian, wearing some kind of a uniform with the dragon symbol on the chest. He started talking to them on the strange language that was incomprehensible for human ears.
"Your flight permission is accepted, you can depart today and stay for a maximum of two hours, after that you have to come back. Your spaceship is number 9. Please go there until you get the next command," the holographic image was gone.
"That was easy, so far so good. If we get the permission for departure we have nothing to worry about anymore," Rokina addressed the others telepathically.
They got back to the flying vehicle and rushed to the spaceship numbered 9. It was a round, silvery machine, ready to depart. It was about 15 yards wide and 5 yards tall. It was floating low, making a buzzing noise. Stepping closer, their leader gave a verbal command to the vehicle that replied to her. Different lights were flashing on the side and a door opened on it. There was a violet beam of light coming out, making them ascend from the floor and pulling them slowly into the vehicle.
They found themselves on an aisle running around the whole spaceship. The walls were built up of one foot wide, light grey, hexagonal elements, made of an unknown material. The aisle was well lit all along thanks to the thin and narrow lamps built in the wall.
"Hurry up, follow me, we will get out for sure!" Rokina said excitedly.
The humans were admiring the high-tech technology of the super-developed inner space of the vehicle. Rushing along the aisle, they reached a small elevator in the middle that took them to the upper floor, right to the control panel. This was at the top of the ship. There were four rectangular windows in this rather small and round room. The control panel was in the middle, where two persons could conduct the vehicle in strange, shell-shaped seats. There were seats for another 4 passengers.
"This machine is amazing," Steven was examining the vehicle curiously.
"I am more interested in the time of our departure!" Bruno added impatiently.
"As soon as we get the permission from the headquarters we are set to go. That can take a few minutes," the reptilian girl said.
They noticed an intensifying light from the above. They looked out the window and saw the ceiling of the hangar slowly opening, letting the afternoon sunlight in. Finally, they could see the bright blue sky with their own eyes.
"I told you they would give us the permission and we can go. I never thought it would be this easy," the reptilian girl was very happy.
The giant opening doors suddenly stopped and began to close in. Then they received a call on one of the screens and they accepted it. The face of a reptilian appeared on the monitor and he said the following.
"I am sorry, but nobody can leave Sipapuni until commanded otherwise. The humans are gone and until they find them nobody can leave the city. You have to postpone your flight!" the call was aborted.
"Damn, what are we going to do now?" Agnessa asked, biting her lips nervously.
"If we stay they are going to catch us sooner or later, that's for sure," Steven clashed his fists angrily.
Rokina, the girl from the inner land, transformed into a reptilian, was doing something on the screen, then turned to the desperate humans.
"We will get out, trust me!" then she pushed a strange sign on the control panel.
The UFO-shaped object was shaking and suddenly it began to ascend. The closing doors were approaching each other. As they reached the gap, they hit one of the gigantic metal doors with the side of the spaceship, but they managed to escape at the very last minute. The machine switched to an incredible speed, but strangely enough, the passengers could not feel anything. The mountains of Colorado became smaller and smaller as they were rocketing upwards in the afternoon sunlight. They reached the mesosphere, the border of Earth and space. They could clearly see the arc of the planet and the stars in the sky and the air was very diffuse here. They changed direction and headed towards the North Pole.
"We got out, we got out!" Agnessa screamed happily, hugging Steven.
Rokina set the direction and the speed of the vehicle.
"In a few minutes we will arrive at the North Pole passage to the inner land. We can celebrate now, we did it!" the girl felt relieved.
"This is amazing, I never thought we could get out so easily," Bruno wiped off the sweat from his forehead.
"What happens next, when we arrive at the inner land?" Steven asked curiously.
"We will immediately contact the human governments. We will do that openly, with several thousands of ships. We don't have much time, we cannot act carefully. We have to organize the eviction of the planet before the invasive fleet arrives."
The spaceship suddenly began to shake. An alarm-like noise repeated one sentence again and again.
"What the hell happened?" Bruno asked.
"Our shield stopped working, we got shot!"
An incoming call appeared on the screen. Lieutenant general Vordan appeared on the screen. He started speaking strictly and confidently in English.
"Human fugitives and their reptilian helper, I'm speaking to you. Come back to Sipapuni immediately or we will destroy you! If you come back, you will get strict punishment, but you will stay alive, I can guarantee that. You have one human minute to change directions and turn back," the call was aborted.
They noticed the silhouette of a metallic cigar-shaped mother ship behind them, just like the one they saw in the hangar.
"We cannot go back, Rokina, you know that," Steven said nervously.
"I know, but the next shot could be fatal. Our shield stopped working."
"Cannot we get rid of them somehow?" Agnessa asked.
"Unfortunately we can't, our vehicle is slower but more mobile. Everybody sit down, I'll try to outmanoeuvre them and this is our only chance."
Everybody obeyed Rokina and sat down quickly. The automatic belts fastened on their chests. She quickly commanded the aircraft to do an evasive manoeuvre in order to gain some time. The vehicle switched to maximum speed and suddenly turned right, beginning to descend quickly. The giant spacecraft behind them followed, a bit confused by the sudden changes in directions. It aimed at them with blue energy balls, but they were all missed shots.
"We will reach the passage in a few minutes, they cannot follow us in there," the inner land girl tried to calm her mates.
She started a new manoeuvre with sudden changes in direction. Everybody was grasping their seats and concentrating tensely as the mother ship fired again. One of the three shots hit the spacecraft. The vehicle shattered and fumed heavily. More alarms began to flicker in the inside.
"The overlay is damaged and some of the navigational devices stopped working. We will probably cash. Look, there's the passage!" Rokina pointed out on the window nervously.
They reached the North Pole and saw the North Sea with giant ice-floats
down there. They could clearly see an enormous round hole in the sea with mysterious light coming up from it and water flowing in. The gigantic vehicle chasing them fired once again, but the bullet only brushed against their spaceship, only causing minor damage. Tilting the aircraft, Rokina managed to stabilize their flying path. They were descending quickly and flew right in the big hole that could only be perceived from high above the sea.
There were strange lights dancing in the sky, similar to Northern lights. A few moments later the spectacular phenomenon was gone. There was a strong, orange light, unusual for the human eyes, coming in the windows. They noticed a beautiful view under themselves. Their vehicle was fuming heavily as it began to fall uncontrollably.
