Zephyr bowed slightly before the cameras and turned to stride away. He found Maia waiting backstage with Waverley. She wrapped an arm around him and kissed his cheek.
"How did I do?" he asked.
"That was perfect. You truly have a strong heart."
"Do think it will work?"
"Without a shadow of a doubt."

Maia sat at the middle of long teak table, looking out at the smiling faces of all her friends and family. She raised her glass of champagne to those who had gathered to celebrate the housewarming for the House of Tides.
"Thank you all so much for coming."
“We wouldn't have missed it," Penelope said.
“We should all move to a tropical island," Flora said, rubbing her rounding stomach.
"We won't be moving the House of Storms anytime soon," Hanish said.
"You are all welcome to come visit us whenever you'd like,” Zephyr said. “There is room for everyone.”
Maia and Zephyr had purchased a tropical resort on an island in the South Pacific, similar to the one where they had spent their first days together. After getting confirmation from the mating analysis, they had come to find that the reason the analysis had been inconclusive was exactly for the reason that Zephyr had postulated. After they made love, the interference from the other dragons was no longer a factor.
Maia rubbed her rounding belly and smiled at her friends. Her brother sat to her left and Zephyr to her right. On one side of the table sat the House of Flames, and on the other side the House of Storms. The other houses were also assembled on tables close by.
Even Current and Evangeline were there. He had been completely cooperative in the transfer of power and hadn't made any attempt to usurp Maia's position. The power of love was truly that strong. He was even spending time with Waverley.
Maia has been reluctant to let him into her life at first, but eventually he proved himself and Maia came to understand that he was an important part of his daughter's life. He lived in a small apartment in town and spent most of his time learning about humans and going out on dates with Evangeline. And no one wanted to punish him for the rest of his life for his mistakes, now that he had made amends for them.
Maia smiled at Zephyr and looked out across the beach at the other tables filled with the dragons of the other houses. She gazed out at the ocean and then at the high chairs with each of her children seated in them. Everything she had ever wanted had come to pass and her people had found a new world to call their own.
“I want to take a moment to acknowledge my gratitude for the beautiful life we all share. After my mate's stirring speech on human media, and the immediate wave of love that washed over the world, the tides of peace have been rising ever since.
“It is a great blessing to be with you all here now. Everything we wished for when we left old Dragonia has come true. The vampires have left humanity in peace, and we are on the precipice of a great and powerful new age for humankind.
“I want to acknowledge each of you princes of Dragonia: your courage, your strength, and your faith in me to birth our dragonkin, even against the wishes of the elders.
“I am blessed with the love of my mate Zephyr. My darling, your dedication to our shared mission, despite everything, is what brought us across the finish line to where we now stand. I love you more than words can never express.
“To all the mothers of dragons now in this world, you are my soul sisters. I love you like a part of myself. And I hope that together we can continue to bring the principles of love, nobility, and honor into the ever-evolving future in this beautiful, abundant world.”
"Hear, hear," Zephyr said, raising his glass.
“Hear, hear,” said Penelope and Flora together.
“Hear, hear,” said JoJo and the rest.
A tear slid down Maia’s cheek as she listened to her babies coo. All the assembled were such a great joy in her heart. All the dragon children would grow and live together here on Earth. She hoped that all the princes would find their own love and belonging as they founded their houses across the world.
But for Maia, her future was assured, her love was grounded here and now, and she had everything she had ever wanted.
