The Tale of Melkorka Page 4

by Octavia Randolph

This novella is based upon one of the many characters in The Saga of the People of Laxardal, one of the ancient Icelandic Sagas. I was intrigued by the Irish slave-princess, but rewrote the second part of her story to give her the ending I felt she deserved.

What readers say about The Circle of Ceridwen:

…You'll love this book. I read every spare minute until the end, then was sad it was over...

…Hard to put the Kindle down...

…Reading the story is like hearing the story read to you...

…I believe this might be the finest historical novel I have read. The rich detail given to each facet of this tale is to be admired and savored. I rarely give a 5 star rating but am delighted to do so for this memorable tale...

  …A truly splendid read...

…Randolph has mastered the first person narrative: a believable heroine who walks as a fully engaged human being, aware of the ramifications of her decisions on herself and others, but facing them with courage and intelligence. Can't recommend this writer any higher: suffice it to say, I logged on to Amazon and ordered the two sequels within an hour of finishing this fine novel...

…I looked forward to reading this every day. The detailed descriptions were wonderful...

…Powerfully written and based upon early British history, this novel brings to life a period of powerful transformation in the British Isles as the Vikings invaded the newly organized lands of the early English. Very much looking forward to buying and reading the next two books of the Trilogy...

…A beautiful read. I loved the characters. A great story filled with adventure, love, and faith...

…I especially liked the conflict the heroine had accepting the "new religion " Christianity, over the old ways of worshipping the earth. ..

…This book kept me spellbound and my description was inadequate to relay the emotions...

…It was definitely a hard book to put down...

…The story remains painfully real and true and kept me up reading many nights wanting to know more about what would happen...

…You will keep picking it up and find it hard to put down...

…The pace and the language evoke the time. Your inner ear, your imagination will adjust. Let yourself go in it...
