So how do you deal with such a direct attack? My favorite example comes from President Reagan himself. In a debate, the person debating against him would try one of the same old tired arguments and Reagan would laugh and smile and say, ‘There you go again’. In that simple exchange we have the key to disarming them completely. We know what they are going to do. When we tell the audience in advance what they are going to do and say, we totally disarm the opposition. They have nothing left ‘new’ they can do but repeat the same old tired attacks, over and over again.
