“You like being fucked senseless, baby girl?” he murmurs against my mouth.

I make an affirmative sound and mumble in French.

“What was that, Cam?” He smiles against my mouth and slams so deep inside me, I gasp for air.

  “Oui. Oui!!”

  “You like this?”

He pulls out almost completely, and before I can complain, he thrusts in again. A rush explodes within me.

I scream a yes. He slaps my ass cheek and I come all around him, clenching him with everything in me.

If any of the romance novels I stole from my mother were true, Dominic would follow me right now.

  He doesn’t.

He lies me on my back and flings my legs over his broad shoulders. He keeps going and going and going.

His chest is sleek with sweat and his expression is of animalistic wildness. The maddening building restarts. His hand slips underneath my ass and I hiss then cry out when he slaps it. I’m so sensitive and delirious, I come all over again with a scream.

This time Dominic grunts. I’m feeling that blackness, but I can’t help falling for how his big body shudders and how his eyelids drop over the dark eyes.

When he growls and spills inside me, I smile and give up to the darkness.

  He fucked me up.

  Literally.

  Figuratively.

I loved every second of it.

The cool scent of coffee tickles my nose.

  Mmmm. My drug.

I open my eyes and sit up like a sleepwalker – or a zombie.

My ass stings and I stop. Fils de pute.

Memories of last night rush back in. The delicious soreness between my legs makes me grimace and smile like an idiot at the same time.

  I slept with Dominic.

No. Actually, he fucked me until I passed out. Again. I was just so tired and he’s too intense. I massage my wrists. They aren’t red, but the memory of them being bound sends a shiver down my spine.

I scarcely remember Dominic unbinding me and carrying me in his strong arms. It’s strange how I came to trust him.

Papa always taught me not to trust strangers, and I took his words to heart, but for some reason, I don’t consider Dominic a stranger.

My gaze roams around the room. It’s large and extremely minimal. Tones of grey and black cover the walls. The king size bed rests on a high architectural platform. There are two nightstands and that’s it.

He spends all his time in the lab. David’s words play in my head. It does seem like a place Dominic only uses to crash.

I spy what I assume is the bathroom. Would I have the time to shower before leaving? Perhaps I should ask him first.

The scent of coffee has been beckoning me from sleep, anyway. I throw the covers and slip into my black dress that’s resting by the side of the bed. No underwear. The caveman tore them.

I head into the equally spacious bathroom with a big shower to die for. I brush my teeth with a spare toothbrush then wash my face.

A heavy feeling lodges at the pit of my stomach as I head to the source of the coffee smell.

  This is it.

My adventure is officially finished now. Both Dominic and I signed up for a one time thing.

Now I had to descend from the cloud and crush in the world of the living.

The kitchen, lounge area, and the dining room are all in one big space overlooking the huge glass. The view seemed dreamy last night, but under the morning light, it’s just another overcast, gloomy day in London.

Or perhaps that’s a translation of my mood.

I halt near the kitchen counter when I make out Dominic throwing something in a pan. He’s only in baggy shorts. That’s it. His strong back muscles are facing me and his dark hair is dishevelled. I’m really at a loss about which version I like best; the posh doctor look or the easy-going one.

He turns around, and when he sees me, his lips lift in that heart-stopping smile. Before I can return it, he takes me in and narrows his eyes.

  What the hell?

“If you don’t mind, I’ll just grab a coffee.” I head to the machine. “I can’t function straight without my morning coffee. I might collapse in the streets or something.”

I clamp my lips shut. My way of playing it cool is through word vomit.

Warmth radiates down my back as Dominic’s presence appears behind me.

I clutch the pot harder. My breathing becomes rugged and I have to focus really hard to pour the coffee in the mug and not all over the counter or myself.

Whoa. Who knew pouring coffee takes so much concentration?

“Why are you dressed? Again.” His voice drips with actual annoyance.

I turn around so I’m facing him. Huge mistake. Now, I’m staring at his defined abs, the tendrils of his tattoo, the stubble on his cheek, the sliver of fine hair on his chest travelling down… down…

I clear my throat and focus on his face. “We’re done, aren’t we?”

He slams a hand on either side of me on the counter so he’s caging me. “Says who?”

  Quoi…? “What do you mean?”

His dark eyes drip with deviltry. “I’m nowhere near being done with you, baby girl.”

I swear my heart is about to beat out of my chest. The heaviness from earlier turns into flutters down my belly. “I thought you only did one time things.”

He smirks. “It’s technically two times.”

  “Dom!”

His eyes heat. “I like it when you call me that.”

“I’m serious.” I try to sound like it anyway. “It’s simpler if it’s a one-time thing.”

My fingers trace the coffee mug. It’d hurt if he lets me walk out of the door, but it’s better to be hurt now rather than afterwards. And he will hurt me. Sociopaths never really settle down. They’re physically incapable of it.

“Then we will make it a two times thing.” He pushes into me, his voice dripping with a playfulness mixed with darkness. The counter digs into my back. “Then three times then maybe four until we forget the count.”

I shake my head, even though tingles are erupting all over my skin.

“Stop thinking.” His palms clutch my cheek and he seems to be seeing inside my soul. That’s what the devil does, right? “That head of yours works so much.”

“I’m not a bimbo whose head doesn’t function.” There’s a bite in my tone.

“Obviously.” He smiles genuinely. “Otherwise, I wouldn’t have kissed you.”

  “You’re playing me.”

  “Is it working?”

“I’m only here for the summer holidays,” I blurt. I don’t know why I need to get this off my chest. “I’ll return to France in less than three months.”

“Then stay here with me.” He doesn’t even miss a beat.

  “What? No. I can’t.”

  “Why not?”

“Because I have a place with my boss.”

“I think we should agree that my place is more accommodating than your boss’s attic room.”

“Wait. How do you know that?”

“Doesn’t matter.” He brushes his lips against mine. It’s quick and feathery, but it sends my mind and heart on overdrive.

“Stay,” he whispers against my mouth. When I don’t say anything, he continues, “My offer to kidnap you still stands.”

  “You can’t just blackmail people.”

  He grins. “Sure I can.”

“What will I get if I stay?” I adopt a bossy tone.

  “A better place?”

  I shake my head.

  “I make delicious breakfast.”

“Tempting.” Since I can’t cook for shit. But he doesn’t need to know that.

He leans over and bites the lobe of my ear. I flinch and stifle a moan. His hot breaths against my skin send a trail of pleasure through me.

“I will fuck you senseless every day until you become addicted. I will slam inside that tight pussy and eat it up until it only
remembers my tongue, my fingers, and my cock. I will drain you until you beg me to stop. Even then,” his voice drops to a shiver-inducing range, “I won’t stop.”

  Oh. Dieu.

His dirty talk is making me all hot and bothered.

  I want that.

When he pulls away, I’m sure he can see my cheeks turning red.

  “That’s low,” I mumble.

He lifts a shoulder. “If it gets me what I want…”

  “I didn’t agree to stay.”

He pulls me into him by the waist. “Let me convince you then. I’m sure I can think of an argument or two.”

One hand clutching the mug, I place the other on his shoulder. I’m not sure if I want to pull him close or push him away.

Who am I kidding? I’ve been awfully curious about him even before he spoke to me. Now that my curiosity got a taste of how intense Dominic actually is, there’s no way I will pass this opportunity to study him up close and personal.

This is the adventure I came here for. I’ll just have to hope that I don’t completely lose myself in the process.

  “Stay, Camille.”

“You won’t ask if I have someone in France?”

He narrows his eyes. “You do?”

  “What if I do?”

“I’m not giving you back. He was idiot enough to let you go.” He pauses. “Hmm. I don’t know if I want to thank the fucker or murder him. In fact, I will thank him then fucking kill him.” His harsh eyes fall on me. “You have someone?”

I bite back a grin. “No. And if we’re doing this…” I stop before saying ‘whatever this is’ “Then you better not have anyone either.”

  “So you will stay?”

“I’ll see if you keep your promises.”

His carefree grin shoots an arrow straight to my chest. That’s it. I’m sure he’s using some sort of black magic.

“Oh. I will. But you have to stop fainting on me.” He pushes a rebel strand off my forehead. “Your pulse and vitals were fine. Do you usually pass out after orgasms?”

I bite my lower lip and shake my head. “I think it’s because everything was so heightened and intense.” I never felt such sweeping pleasure in my life. I keep the last thought to myself since Dominic’s ego is already too big.

“In that case, I better start my persuasion.” He lowers his head, lips hovering over mine but he doesn’t kiss me.

  The tease.

“It takes a lot to persuade me.”

“Persuasion is my skill.” He flings me over his shoulders. I yelp then break down into a fit of giggles as he carries me to the bedroom.

For a moment in time, Dominic and I were happy.

  Camille

A week or so pass, and I’m in a haze.

Sometimes, I call Maman just so she would tell me that I indeed ran away and she might or might not forgive me when I go back.

I smile at a customer with an automatic nod and head to the storeroom. I’ve been often absent-minded at work. It’s better to take care of the stock rather than the customers.

Once I’m inside the small storage room, I retrieve the bill and recheck the delivered items.

I bite the end of the pen, but instead of seeing the shelves filled with coffee boxes, I’m transported to last night when Dominic took me against the kitchen counter. It was hard and raw and out of control. My hips are bruised and I’m deliciously sore, I’m surprised I didn’t faint again.

I guess I’m getting used to Dominic’s level of intensity and his impossible stamina. It was hard at the beginning. I was always so tired and wanted to sleep after each mind-blowing orgasm. But he’s training my body to accommodate his madness.

  And it is madness.

He was a mere curiosity that morphed into an obsession and now it’s a mind-shattering adventure. I simply can’t get enough of him and the way his brain works.

Every time I fall asleep in his arms, I can’t help thinking that all this is beyond sex and the whole physical connection. There’s no mistaking that I love how he takes control of my body, but I also love how he gathers me close and buries his head at the top of my head.

It makes me feel things I shouldn’t be feeling.

Whenever I’m at work, all I do is count the hours so I can go back to the flat.

I lift a few boxes and arrange them in their respective shelves.

Although even if I return early, he won’t be there. Dominic is a serious, unbending workaholic. Not that it’s unexpected from a genius his level.

I like it when we sit for breakfast or late dinner – he’s making me fat with those – and tells me about the last inventions or updates in the medical field. He doesn’t talk about his actual research, though. It seems to be a top secret of sorts.

He also listens to me talk for hours on end about my college life. Unlike many, Dominic doesn’t listen just to appear polite. For one, he doesn’t care about politeness. It’s only a mask he puts on for the others but never in front of me. And I love his arrogance and control more than the fake politeness.

Whenever I talk about my life and my studies, he watches me intently with a hint of admiration in his dark eyes.

I told him about my parents. My North African side of the family. Our small town. Our mansion-like house that Papa built in the middle of nowhere. At times, I have the urge to drag Dominic to my home. I want him to see where I grew up.

When I mentioned Pierre in a fleeting conversation, Dominic got all pissed off and fucked me rougher than usual. He didn’t hold back one bit. It was too delicious. I think I might mention Pierre again. Not that he lights a candle to Dominic, but I can use my failure of a relationship with him to get ruthless, mind-blowing sex.

Honestly, I don’t know why he’s being possessive and dare I say, jealous? He had all his nameless women. When I countered with that, Dominic said, they were only that. Nameless. But I had a relationship with Pierre. He said the word ‘relationship’ with such disdain and kept calling him a ‘kid’. Give it to Dominic to put anyone he doesn’t like down.

Dr Johnson is the perfect person to show off to anyone’s ex. He’s charming, attractive, and so put together on the surface. Underneath is the version I want to keep to myself.

But then I remember it’s just an adventure. One day, all this haze will dissipate as well.

Nancy’s pinkish head peeks from the storeroom’s entrance. She checks behind her as if about to commit a felony before she runs my way. “I told you to give me all the details, girl!”

I feign ignorance as I check the bill. “About what?”

“About how good Dr freaking Dominic is in bed!” I open my mouth to say something, but she holds up her hand. “And don’t bother denying it, girl. He looks at you like he owns you – and it’s bloody hot, by the way – so there’s no way he hadn’t fed you his magic cock.” She pauses then whispers. “It was magical, right? Please tell me my fantasies are right.”

Something squeezes in my chest. I hate that Nancy fantasises about Dominic. “Take your fantasies and magnify them because he shatters them in every regard.”

“Bloody. Hell.” Her mouth hangs open.

Sam calls for her and she curses again. “I still need all the dirty details.”

I push her, laughing. “Go or Sam will go berserker on you.”

“Details later.” She gives me a stern look before she’s out of the door.

I shake my head. No way will I tell her. My story with Dominic is only ours. I feel so protective about sharing it. Nancy needs to lose her interest in Dominic because he’s mine.

It’s weird. I never thought of him as mine, but now I do. I’ll be damned if I let any other woman near him.

  My phone rings. Maman.

“Bonjour, ma belle,” she says in her honeyed tone. There’s a sound of waves crashing into the shore. She must be near the cliff. We always liked hiking there.

  “Bonjour, Maman. Comment ça va?”

  “You’re not my beautif
ul girl since you ran away.”

I roll my eyes. “It’s only for the summer.”

I don’t know if I’m saying it to remind myself or her. Suddenly, I don’t want the summer to end. It’s been going too fast for my taste.

“Et je suis toujours ta belle, Maman.”

“You always get what you want, don’t you?”

“Not everything. Is Papa still angry?” My tone is careful. He refuses to take my calls.

“He will come around. He spoils you too much and never thought you would run away on him.”

“I’m not running away. I’m having a holiday.”

“He doesn’t see it that way.” There’s a pause. “You know we only did what we did to protect you, right? Your father is an army man, he gets too suspicious too fast. He has a pessimistic view of the world.”

I sigh, leaning against the shelves. “I understand that. I’ve been brought up in both your shadows, but I need to step out of it.” I didn’t feel really alive until I got here – and met Dominic.

“I understand, but your father will need a bit more time, ma belle.” There’s a smile in her voice. “So, is everything good in London?”

  “Absolument. T’inquiète.”

Maman is my best friend for life. There hasn’t been anything I haven’t told her. Including the whole drama with Pierre.

I’ve been debating telling her about Dominic, but my logical side voted against it. Dominic is ten years older than me, and while I don’t see that age difference, Maman might and she hides nothing from Papa. He will be here in three hours to drag me back. Worse, Papa taught me to read people and he’s more excellent at it than me. If he talks to Dominic even once, he’ll figure out his nature.

Needless to say, everything will go nasty.

“I’m happy for you, my Camille.” Maman’s warm voice fills me with peace. “Don’t tell your father I speak to you. He thinks we’re both punishing you.”

I smile as William, my colleague motions at me from the door. “Listen, Maman. I got to go. I will talk to you later.”

  “Prends soin, ma belle. Bisous.”

  “Bisous. Bisous.”

Once I hung up, Will saunters inside. He’s a year or so older than me. He has golden blond hair and a square jawline and dreamy blue eyes. Needless to say, he’s the reason we get many teen customers around here. He and Nancy taught me everything when I first arrived.
