You Ain't My Type Page 21

by Nicole Jackson

Jaylen licked his lips. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. And I just wanted to say that there’s no hard feelings about that situation back at your house. I realized that it was all just a coincidence. But that is all water under the bridge, and there’s no reason that we can’t be friends. Especially since you and Rye don’t have any dealings.”

He gulped, after hearing that name. He thought about correcting her, since to a certain extent, he and Rye would have to deal. She was proven to be Ray-Ray’s daughter, so they’d definitely be around each other at one capacity or another. But then he thought about everything that Rye had shared with him. During their time together, she’d virtually become an open book, especially when it came to family matters. Therefore, he knew that Dee had been distant with Rye ever since the incident back at his house, so he quickly concluded that Dee probably didn’t even know that Jaylen’s step-grandpa was Rye’s real dad.

“Yeah, it’s all good, lil’ mama,” he responded, as he glanced around the room, looking for an out.

“So, I typed a text to a girl I used to see. Sayin' that I chose this cutie pie with whom I wanna be. And I apologize if this message gets you down. Then I CC'ed every girl that I'd see-see 'round town. And hate to see y'all frown, but I'd rather see her smilin'. Wetness all around me, true, but I'm no island. Peninsula maybe…”

Jaylen smirked at the timing of the song.

“Uh-oh, this the shit,” Dee giggled, as she cutely rolled her hips, purposely bumping up against him. “I choose you, baby,” she sang.

“My bitch a choosy lover. Never fuck without a rubber. Never in the sheets, like it on top of the cover…”

Jaylen found himself laughing, because Dee was really grooving to the music, rapping the lyrics to him, as if the song wasn’t about pimping hoes. The song was talking about getting chose, but definitely not in the way that she’d probably like.

While his mind was in the clouds somewhere, Dee was on a mission. So, before he knew it, she’d backed her ass on him. Feeling her ass on his dick, he peered down, watching her small waist swirl to the beat. Although her frame was petite, she knew how to work it, and soon he found himself gripping her hips.

Dee naughtily licked her tongue out, thinking that she was going to finally have her way that night. Dancing through three more songs, she was convinced that she’d placed Jaylen underneath her spell, and that was confirmed for her, when he allowed her to go back to his section with him.

Dee tried her best to act civil, but she was honestly in awe. Jaylen literally had people that she’d see on TV casually chilling with him. Even with the celebrities around, he still stood out amongst the crowd. He was simply that nigga, which had her desperate to make him hers. Ordinarily, she didn’t have to put much thought into anything pertaining to guys. She was an attractive girl, and she’d have her pick of the litter off top, but Jaylen was a different breed. So, she knew that she’d have to pull out all the stops, and she was willing.

Although, she’d been invited to the exclusive section by the birthday boy, he’d led her there, but she was now hanging with Simone. Jaylen was too busy turning up to hold a conversation. They’d popped bottles of expensive champagne and were going in. Girls who’d been identified as Jaylen’s family were in the middle of the floor twerking their lives away, while various guys showboated, literally dropping bills all over them.

Hours floated by like minutes, as the party raged. Several rappers had hit the stage and or were in the section, blending in with the crowd. Dee was losing hope in executing her plans, as Jaylen was too busy socializing. Thankfully, right before the club was supposed to shut down, he came and flopped down on the couch next to her. She could tell that he was wasted and was grateful as this could work to her advantage.

“I was beginning to believe that you’d never come back this way,” she spoke into his ear.

He reclined back. “Why you say that?” he questioned with a yawn.

“You’ve been all over the place.”

He nodded. “That’s how its supposed to be. It’s my birthday celebration,” he slurred.

“True,” she breathed, as she inconspicuously eased her hand into his lap. “So, what are we doing tonight?”

His eyes fell down to his lap, as she gripped his dick through his pants. “What you doing, man?”

“I’m showing you what you’re in for.”

  “What I’m in for?”

“Yeah, if you bring me back to your spot.”

He shook his head. “Nah, I don’t know about all that.”

She arched her brows. “Why not? Is this about what happened in the past? Cause I told you that I’m not tripping on that. You aint with my sister, like she tried to make it seem, so we’re good. And there will be no drama on my end. I promise.”

Jaylen studied her hand on his dick again. She was so pressed to get him to take her home that she didn’t realize that he wasn’t aroused. That just reminded him of how young she was, and how she wasn’t his type. From the beginning he’d only seen her as a temporary thing, but even that diminished to nothing once he realized that she was related to Rye. If he was being honest with himself, he knew that he still felt something for her, and screwing her little sister again definitely wouldn’t help them mend a thing.

“Baby girl.” he gripped her hand. “On the cool, you a nice lil’ chick, and I got a whole lot of lil’ cousins who would love your ass. I mean, they’d scoop you up and gal you with no hesitation. And maybe next time I’ll introduce yall. But me…I’m good, love,” he offered, before placing her hand in her own lap, then standing up, and swaggering off.

Dee sat on the couch with her feelings crushed, and was grateful that the club was busy and noisy, so no one would notice that she had to pick her face up off the floor.

  Chapter 19

“My bitch is doing big things. Yesss,” Lea praised, as she rode shotgun in Rye’s new Mercedes.

Rye smirked, as she gripped her steering wheel. “Girl, if you don’t shut up.”

It was a beautiful day, and they were cruising the city’s streets. Rye had just stopped by Dewayne’s house to check the mail for her mama. The only reason she’d done that was because she knew that he was at work, and she wouldn’t have to interact with him.

“I’m just saying,” Lea rambled. “But can you stop at a store? I’m thirsty as hell.” She dramatically grabbed her throat.

Rye sucked her teeth. “Bitch, it aint that serious, but I got you.”

Minutes later, she pulled into a local Shell gas station. Together they hopped out of the car, and headed into the store. Dress down, Rye wore Pink leggings with a plain white tee, along with a Pink fanny pack and matching slides. Her clothes were tighter than she expected, causing her to feel a little self-conscious. Surprisingly, Lea hadn’t called her on her bullshit, as she’d developed a noticeable baby bump. But then again, to unsuspecting people, it may have appeared that she was merely gaining weight. Then although she was doing hair on the daily now, she had her naturally long hair pulled up into a scruffy ponytail, and then looped into an extremely messy bun. Matching her girl’s mood, Lea wore sweats, but her hair was laid.

“I think that I’ma grab two bottles of water for myself,” Rye announced to no one in particular, as she opened the store’s coolers.

“That’s a lot of water,” someone commented behind her.

Hearing that voice, she spun around.

He smiled. “What’s up? Why you looking like that?”

She frowned. “Tori, if you don’t get the fuck away from me.”

He furrowed his brows. “What’s with the hostility?”

“The fuck you mean, what’s with the hostility? Didn’t you fucking spit on me the last time you saw me?” she spewed.

Lea paused, as she caught that tea. As far as she knew, Tori was just a dog ass nigga, but Rye had never gone into intimate details about their relationship. So, she’d just assumed that they’d ended on bad terms, but noth
ing too extreme.

“Come on, Rye, don’t act like I did that out of nowhere. You disrespected the hell out of me, but regardless, I apologize for that. I was out of line.”

“Umm hmm, whatever,” she scoffed, as she attempted to walk around him.

“Wait,” he grabbed her forearm. “I need to talk to you.”

“Uhhh,” she groaned. “I don’t know why my dumb ass stopped at this store, knowing your parents live just up the street. This is my damn fault.”

Tori examined her from head to toe. She’d noticeably gained weight, and even had a gut, but her ass was also super swollen, turning him completely on. Her usually kempt hair was absent but did nothing to tarnish to her beauty. Rye was naturally a looker, and he’d tremendously missed sliding inside of her.

“Why you gotta be so dramatic?” he enquired, still holding onto her.

She glared down at his hand on her. “Tori, can you please stop touching me?”

He pulled her closer. “Why are you acting like this?”

“Because I don’t want you fucking touching me!” she snapped, jerking out of his grasp. “Let’s go, Lea.”

Lea dropped the items she was about to purchase down on a random shelf. Swiftly, they marched back out to her car. By the time Lea was easing into the car, she realized that Tori had followed them outside. Thankfully, Rye closed her door, just before he reached the car.

“Open the door, Rye,” he demanded, as he grabbed the handle.

Lea frowned. “This nigga is really crazy. You already told him that you wasn’t fucking with him. I mean, damn.”

“Exactly,” Rye concurred, as she stared at Tori through her window. “Tori, get the fuck away from my car, before I run you over.”

“Run me over? For what? Just get out the car. I need to talk to you.” he continued to tug at the door handle.

“Aint nobody trying to talk to you. We aint got nothing to say. Trust me.”

“Really?” he questioned, refusing to believe that. “So, you don’t love me no more?”

  “Nope.”

He snarled. “That’s fucked up. You ran off to fuck with that nigga, but where he at? Huh?”

Clenching her jaw, he’d managed to hit a soft spot, but she had a remedy for that. “Oh, don’t worry. He’s still around. We’re having a baby in five and a half months.” She rubbed her stomach.

Lea’s eyes bucked, while Tori lost it.

“Bitch, I’ll kill you!” he hit the window.

Without hesitating, Rye placed her car in drive, and floored it, skirting out of the lot.

“Okay, bitch, slow down!” Lea shouted, after they were a couple of blocks away from the gas station. “With your pregnant ass,” she giggled.

Rye cut her eyes at her and sucked her teeth. “That was just something I told his ass.”

Lea pursed her lips. “Yeah, right. Whatever you say. But I’ll leave that alone, seeing as how you’re a private bitch. We’ll talk about it whenever you’re ready.”

Rye didn’t bother saying anything, which within itself said plenty. For a few minutes they rode in silence, until she heard her stomach growl. “Damn, I gotta get something to eat.”

“I know, huh?” Lea agreed. “I got a taste for some Frenchy’s.”

Rye nodded. “So, Frenchy’s it is.”

Twenty minutes later, they were pulling up to the original Frenchy’s in the heart of Third Ward. The chicken house was Black owned, and was right behind TSU, and up the street from U of H, which was the university Rye and Lea had met at. A nice crowd was already gathered outside, by time the two eased out of the car and stood in the line. The restaurant was walk-up style, therefore everyone ordered at the window and could either dine outside or go back to their vehicles after.

“I think that I’ma order the wings, some macaroni, greens, fried okra, fries, and a Kool-Aide,” Rye counted down on her fingers.

Lea gave her a side eye. “That baby is hungry, huh?”

Rye pursed her lips, as she offered her friend the finger.

Lea giggled, while a group of guys stepped up behind her in line. Curiously, she glanced over her shoulder, and realized that the guys all attended U of H. Rye glanced back as well, before a smile formed on her face.

  “What’s up, girl?” Blue spoke.

Rye twisted around. “Hey, boy. Long time no see.” Her eyes examined him. He was still handsome with smooth chocolate skin, tall, slender, wavy hair, and a gentle smile.

He licked his lips. “I know. You just disappeared on me. I guess that boyfriend of yours keeps your hands tied.”

“Used to keep my hands tied,” she clarified.

Lea sucked her teeth, as she stepped around Rye, giving them room to talk. Besides she didn’t want to literally be in the middle of their conversation.

With no one in between them now, Blue looked Rye up and down. Her weight gain was hard to miss, but she was still fine to him. Without the usual glam, she was still pretty, and he’d quickly decided that he liked her better this way.

“So, are you telling me that if I hit you up, you’ll actually answer now?”

She tittered. “Don’t say it like that.”

He opened his arms. “How else you want me to say it? You know you’re slippery. Hard to hold and shit.”

“Whatever,” she playfully rolled her eyes.

“I’m for real. Had a nigga chasing you all freshmen year, only for me to find out that you made the next man your boyfriend.”

She nodded. “Yeah, you’re right, but the joke is on me. I should’ve made better choices.”

  He grinned. “Oh, most definitely.”

Ten minutes later, they’d not only ordered their food, but had also retrieved their order, while Blue footed the bill for Rye. Thereafter, Lea sat in the car stuffing her face, while Rye caught up with Blue. Eventually, he walked her over to the car, and she hopped in. Before Rye could close her door, he grabbed it and peeked in at Lea.

“Aye, my boy wants your number.”

Lea snobbishly rolled her eyes. “Nah, I’m good.”

Blue jerked his head back. “Well, damn, alright.” He then focused on Rye. “Make sure you call me, beautiful.”

Rye nodded with a smile. “I will.”

“Okay. Drive safe,” he urged, before closing her door for her.

Rye placed her car in reverse, while shaking her head. “Bitch, you are so rude.”

Lea bucked her eyes. “No, the hell I’m not. I don’t know why women are conditioned to let down men easily. You forgot that I strip for a living, so I know when to play with a man to get what I want. And I also know that saying yes or flirting when you aint interested is asking for somebody to stalk you. So, I nip that shit right in the bud.”

“Okay, rude ass. I get the picture, but anyway, I’m glad that I ran into Blue’s cute ass. I feel like he’s the type of dude I should’ve been entertaining from the beginning. So, I’m definitely gonna see what’s up.”

  “Ewe,” Lea cringed.

“Ewe? What is that supposed to mean?”

“It means that he’s okay, but I just never saw you with somebody like him.”

“Somebody like him?” Rye scowled. “Girl, your ass is too shallow. There’s nothing wrong with Blue. You know I messed with him for a few. He’s smart as hell. He plays basketball for the U of H Cougars, and I never hear any wild stories about him with these hoes out here.”

Leah sucked her teeth. “Rye, stop it. Even you don’t believe that shit. Aint nothing about you mediocre, yet you’re entertaining that mediocre ass nigga. He’s cute, but not the finest nigga around. He plays ball, but don’t even start. So, hoes don’t sweat him, because they know that his basketball career is headed nowhere. But you’re right about one thing. He is smart, so he’ll probably get a degree, and make enough to live a nice middle-class life. And I see him with some chick who’ll probably graduate right along with him. It’ll be too cute. Probably will end up being one of those cute collage music videos tha
t goes viral on Facebook. But whoever that chick is…she aint you. Everything about you, my friend, is bomb as fuck. I’ve seen you in action, so I know your type, and Blue definitely aint it. So, I’m guessing that you’re looking at him twice now…because of your lil’ situation. And I get it. You scared, and he looks safe. But I just feel that you gotta cut the bullshit, and put yourself out there. You aint living if you can’t handle a few bumps and bruises. I also understand that you was just dealing with a different type of nigga. I think that dealing with Jaylen could be intimidating, so I get it. He had you in your feelings, and now you’re running scared. It’s probably because you realized that shit was different with him and he could probably hurt you like you aint never been hurt before. But that’s life, man. I’d just hate to see you in a situation that aint really in your heart, just because you scared. Don’t settle, friend.”

Rye pursed her lips. “I should’ve known that your ass was lowkey advocating for Jaylen’s ass. What, did he pay you to say all that shit?”

“No, I was just speaking the real, bitch. But you know that nigga is more your speed, and that’s why you run scared. Wouldn’t even go to one of the livest parties this year, because he got you in your feelings.”

Rye sucked her teeth. “It wasn’t that deep. I had been feeling sick all day, so there was no point in me going.”

Lea smirked. “Well, you should’ve. That shit was a fucking movie…even your sister was in the building.”

“Wait, what?” Rye whipped her head around.

Lea laughed. “You heard me. Your sister was in the building, and weaseled her way into the V.I.P section.”

“So, you was in V.I.P. too?” Rye inquired, knowing that Lea had decided to go last minute, and had purchased regular admission tickets like most people.
