“No thanks! You ought to control yourself; you’re not that young anymore,” Tang Hao said exasperatedly.
“Pah! Am I that old? I’m still young!” Qin Gang said indignantly.
“Young, my *ss!” Tang Hao mumbled.
“So are you coming, my dear Brother-in-law?”
“Sure, I’ll go and take a look.” Tang Hao wanted to decline, but he suddenly thought of something and changed his mind.
“You don’t have to come over. I’m already at the front gate of your university,” Qin Gang said.
“Oh, Brother-in-law, you’re so lucky! There are so many hot chicks here!”
Tang Hao rolled his eyes and huffed, “You just wait there. I’ll come out now.”
When Tang Hao met Qin Gang, he was busy ogling at female students.
“Let’s go!” Tang Hao sat in the car and said impatiently.
“Go go go!”
Qin Gang started the car and floored the accelerator.
They arrived at East Pavilion Street, and they went to Spirit Atelier.
“Oh, two Young Masters! Long time no see!”
The workers cupped their fists as a greeting when they saw the two people.
Young Master Tang was a famous figure at East Pavilion Street. The incident when he managed to fleece Fatty Diao and convinced him to buy an imitation antique for an astronomical price had become a legend.
Tang Hao went around the store but did not find anything worthwhile.
Meanwhile, Qin Gang spent a long time in the store and eventually bought a piece of ancient jade.
After leaving Spirit Atelier, Tang Hao walked down the street and arrived at a small store at the end of the road.
That antique store was tiny when compared to Spirit Atelier. The storekeeper was in his sixties and wore a pair of bifocals. He was sitting behind the counter.
That store was where Tang Hao bought the strange black mirror.
“Boss!”
Tang Hao entered the store, cupped his fists, and greeted the storekeeper.
The old storekeeper stood up and said, “Is there anything I can help you with, two sirs?”
“Actually… I’m here to find some information about something,” Tang Hao said.
“Oh, what is it?” The storekeeper was surprised.
“It’s this thing,” Tang Hao took out the strange black mirror and placed it on the counter.
The old shopkeeper squinted and took a closer look at the mirror, but did not seem to recognize it instantly.
After a long time, he exclaimed, “Oh, that’s the one I sold you! What do you want to ask?”
Chapter 529 - A Deity’s Tomb
“I’d like to ask you, Boss, who was the one who sold you the mirror back then?”
The old shopkeeper was surprised. He looked at Tang Hao warily.
“Well, I’m not supposed to tell you… Also, it’s been a long time, at least ten years. I can’t remember it too well.”
His tone of voice was ambiguous.
Tang Hao smiled. “How about this, Boss, if you tell me the information, I’ll buy every item in your store.”
The old shopkeeper looked at Tang Hao and smiled. “Don’t shoot your mouth off, kid. My store might be small, but the items can add up to quite a lot. Can you afford to buy everything?”
Tang Hao did not say anything. He took out a card, placed it on the counter, and pushed it toward the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper looked closely at it and his pupils constricted.
‘The Black Gold card from Huaxia Bank!
”This kid is the real deal!’
He furrowed his brows and hesitated for a bit.
“Kid, what do you want this information for? There’s something unnatural about that tomb! I’ve heard from the seller that only two out of the entire group survived the tomb, and they did not find anything amazing.
“The mirror was their only worthwhile haul.”
The shopkeeper touched the black mirror as he spoke. He seemed emotional.
“I’m interested in checking out that tomb myself… as for the risk, you don’t have to worry. It’s modern times now and technology has improved. Things should be a lot safer,” Tang Hao said.
“Well… alright, I’ll tell you then! However, I can’t guarantee if you can find those people though. After all, that was more than ten years ago.
“As for money, I don’t want to fleece you. I’ll just take a hundred thousand or something.”
“Let’s make it two hundred thousand then!” Tang Hao said.
“Alright, two hundred thousand it is!” The shopkeeper said.
He paused for a while. There was a hint of nostalgia on his wrinkled face.
“That person’s name is Chen Abing, and people call him Master Bing. He’s a quite famous dirt-skimmer back then, but he’s unlucky to have met his downfall at that tomb. I’ve heard that he retired after that botched job.
“That’s all I know about what he did. I can give you his last-known address!”
Tang Hao got a piece of paper with Chen Abing’s address from the storekeeper.
He paid the promised fee and left the store.
“Are you going grave-robbing, Brother-in-law?” Qin Gang’s eyes sparkled.
“That’s none of your business!” Tang Hao glared at him.
“Hey, that’s not very nice of you, Brother-in-law! How about I join in the fun?”
“It’s an unnatural tomb. You’ll lose your life there,” Tang Hao huffed.
Qin Gang was intimidated. “It’s that dangerous? Then… I think I’ll skip it!”
“Send me here!” Tang Hao handed Qin Gang the scrap of paper with the address on it.
They arrived at the destination two hours later.
Tang Hao asked around and found out that Chen Abing had passed away a few years ago. He had two sons, and one of them ran a store in the local antique street.
Tang Hao met Chen Abing’s son at the store.
He finally opened his mouth after being paid a lot of money.
“That tomb, you say? Of course, I remember that. My father became depressed because of it. As for its exact location, I’m not too sure. My father never mentioned it either.”
He thought for a while and seemed to remember something. “Right, when I was organizing my father’s mementos, I found a weird piece of paper. It should be a map.
“However, it must have been written in code. Even the most experienced dirt-skimmers I know can’t decipher it. If you want it, I can give it to you.”
He went into the room and soon returned with a piece of brown paper.
The paper was very old and was filled with curious squiggles.
“My father and his gang made this to record the location of the tomb. He was constantly brooding over that tomb up until his death.
“That tomb isn’t normal. My father said that it was a tomb of a deity.”
Tang Hao took the piece of brown paper and studied it for a bit. It was a mundane piece of paper, unlike the scroll he received from Fatty Diao which held a secret meant for cultivators.
He studied it on the way back to Provincial City, but could not understand anything.
“You can pass that to me, Brother-in-law! I know a few people who might be able to figure out something,” Qin Gang said eagerly when they arrived back at Provincial City.
“Really?”
“Of course. My network is pretty extensive.”
“Alright then, I’ll give it to you. Call me if it’s deciphered.”
Tang Hao handed Qin Gang the piece of paper.
A coded message like that would be useless to outsiders. Tang Hao was not in the trade, which was not surprising why he could not figure out anything. He would rather let Qin Gang’s friends try.
“Alright! Don’t worry, Brother-in-law!” Qin Gang took the brown paper and said, “Ah, right! So, are we having any fun tonight?”
Tang Hao rolled his eyes. “You can go yourself!”
Aft
er lunch, he asked Qin Gang to send him back to the university.
He went to find Yan’er.
The freshmen had military training classes in the first two weeks of classes. Today was the first day of military training classes, and groups of freshmen in military uniforms could be seen on the field.
Yan’er was also dressed in military training uniform and marching in a formation.
The military training uniform could not cover her beauty.
The boys around her sneaked peeks at her as they marched.
She noticed Tang Hao and messed up her footwork.
The formation became even more chaotic when the other students noticed him.
“Look over there! That person must be Tang Hao. I’ve heard that he’s the most famous student at Z University. He’s a big-timer!”
“I’ve also heard of him. He’s super rich, and I think he’s the chairman of that Haotian Group.”
“Wow, the forums were right. He’s so handsome!”
“Hey, don’t fantasize. He must be here to meet Beauty Queen Shi. Haven’t you heard? They come from the same village, and they have known each other since they were kids.”
“How romantic! Why don’t I get a childhood friend like him?”
The commotion spread to other teams. The instructors were helpless.
The training session ended half an hour later.
“Brother Hao!”
Yan’er quickly walked over to Tang Hao, excitedly waving her arm.
She wiped the sweat off her forehead. Her face was red after exercise.
“How is it? Is it too tough?”
“It’s a little tiring, but I can manage,” Yan’er said with a coy smile.
“That’s good to know… I’m just here to check on you,” Tang Hao said.
He lifted his head and saw three girls waiting for Yan’er. He met them before; they were Yan’er’s dorm mates.
Tang Hao opened his backpack and took out several bags of gifts for them. “Thanks for taking care of this silly girl Yan’er!”
“Wow!” They exclaimed in surprise when they looked inside.
“Thank you, Boss Tang!” One of the girls said.
Tang Hao and Yan’er walked and chatted. He left after sending her to the dorm.
Chapter 530 - Long-Legged Ice Queen
The next day, Tang Hao went to class as usual.
The bell rang around noon, and the students swarmed out of their classrooms.
Tang Hao was among the crowd. He was walking together with Cao Fei and the others toward the plaza when his phone started ringing.
The call was from General Bai.
“What’s up, Ol’ Bai?” Tang Hao answered the call.
“Comrade Tang Hao, I’d like to task you with an honorable mission,” General Bai said very seriously.
“What mission is it?” Tang Hao was surprised.
“I wouldn’t have asked you if it was just a normal mission. This one’s a little peculiar. It’s related to the operation last time,” General Bai said.
Tang Hao thought for a bit and understood what he meant.
Operation Witch Hunter, which involved eliminating the elites of thirteen major European vampire and werewolf clans, was a resounding success. However, they were not completely wiped out.
Earlier, Tang Hao was busy with his term exams, while the Taoist masters were involved in the operation in other cities. Was it finally time to rid those clans once and for all?
“We cannot let the thirteen clans survive. Only by striking them at their home base, we can let the world know that Huaxia is not to be challenged.
“I’ve already dispatched some of our people two days ago to scout for information. However, those whelps were alerted, and they gathered their forces.
“The clans’ elites were all wiped out in the last battle, and the survivors aren’t that powerful. It’ll be easy if we pick out the clans one by one, but if they join forces, things are a little trickier.
“Moreover, we are fighting in a foreign country. We’ll need a strong backup.”
Tang Hao nodded. “When are we going?”
“No time better than the present. I’ve already told Comrade Mu to fetch you. She should be arriving soon. I’ve already prepared your flight ticket and documents.”
Tang Hao was immediately dumbstruck. “Now? And you sent her too?”
“Yes! Is there a problem?” General Bai asked.
Tang Hao grimaced. ‘That will be a big problem!’
After ending the call, he could faintly hear the whir of a helicopter propeller from afar.
Tang Hao covered his face. ‘Here we go again…’
Last time, only a small portion of the students who went to the spring outing saw it. Now that the helicopter was going to land in the campus, the ensuing rumors would be a lot more sensational.
The noise of the helicopter became louder and louder. A pitch-black military helicopter was flying toward the university like a falcon.
“What’s that?”
“Oh my god, it’s a military helicopter!”
A commotion spread through the entire university campus as the helicopter flew across the sky.
The students had finished their morning classes and were on their way to lunch. Everyone lifted their heads and looked at the helicopter.
The windows of the academic buildings opened, and many teachers and students stuck their heads out.
Their expressions were all the same — Their mouths and eyes were opened wide, and they could not believe what they were seeing.
When the helicopter swooped across the field, the freshmen in military training and the instructors were all stunned too.
“What? Where did the military helicopter come from?”
“Ah, so the rumors are true after all! Haven’t you heard? There’s a legendary figure in Z University. He gets fetched around by a military helicopter.”
“Wow! Are you for real? That sounds a little too far-fetched!”
“I didn’t believe it at first, but I believe it now! Oh my god, I’m so excited!”
Girls were shrieking everywhere.
Whir! Whir!
The military helicopter descended and eventually landed in the middle of the plaza.
Everyone in the plaza was silent.
Their heads were lifted toward the sky, and their faces carried expressions of utter incredulity.
Cao Fei’s mouth was opened in an O shape, as were his friends’ mouths.
A figure jumped off the helicopter and landed on the ground.
She was a tall and curvaceous young woman dressed in a military uniform and wore a pair of aviator shades. Even so, one could tell that beneath the shades were a pair of beautiful eyes.
Her long, black hair danced in the wind.
Her intimidating presence had stunned everyone.
“It’s her, that long-legged ice queen! She appeared again!”
“Oh my god, she’s so pretty! I wouldn’t have thought that the rumors were true!”
“Since when did the army have such pretty girls? I should’ve enlisted.”
Everyone was talking excitedly in the plaza.
“Where is Tang Hao? She must be looking for him!” Someone shouted.
Everyone turned their heads, and their gazes fell on Tang Hao like knives and swords.
Mu Xintong turned to look at him and started walking toward him.
“Follow me.”
She said coldly when she arrived in front of Tang Hao.
Tang Hao could only nod and follow her into the helicopter.
The helicopter took flight once more and quickly left the scene.
“Damn! Is Brother Hao going to save the world again?” Cao Fei said excitedly.
The commotion in the university did not die down for a very long time.
The two people sat in the helicopter facing each other. No one said a word.
Tang Hao suddenly realized that he could not possibly voice his complaints when looking
at that frigid, unyielding face that was like a glacier.
“Well… I’m not going to comment about this time, but next time… can’t you come over in something low profile, like a car?” Tang Hao said.
“This is faster,” Mu Xintong replied.
Tang Hao could not find a retort to that. He shut his mouth and spoke no more.
They arrived at the military base very soon, after which they boarded a jet and flew toward the Capital.
He met up with the Taoist masters at an airbase somewhere in the Capital. There were about twenty of them in total.
After receiving their documents and flight tickets, they rushed to the international airport and flew toward Europe.
It was about eight o’clock at night when they arrived at the airport in Doytesland.
They rode on a tour bus once they got out of the airport. The driver was a cultivator from the Agency whom they had met before.
They arrived at a hotel and met up with the reconnaissance group, which included Taoist Master Qian Ji.
There were about fifty of them in total.
After exchanging some pleasantries, Taoist Master Qian Ji briefed Tang Hao and the others.
“The situation is like this. The thirteen clans are gathered in two big groups; one for the vampires and the other for the werewolves. The whelps are in Doytesland, while the bloodlings are next door, in Farlance,” Taoist Master Qian Ji said.
“The home base of the werewolves are the Sullivans,” Taoist Master Qian Ji said as he pointed on a map, “They’re in an ancient castle here.”
“The Sullivans?”
Tang Hao narrowed his eyes, which flashed scarily.
Chapter 531 - All of You Deserve To Die
The Sullivans were the ones who were hosting human flesh dinner parties in Huaxia.
‘Those werewolves deserve to die!’
Tang Hao could feel a rising killing intent in his heart.
