“Then prove it by going back the way you are right now and being fine in your own skin.”
Lucy shook her head. “I’ve already signed up.” She forced a smile in the face of Jana’s sincere concern. “If nothing else, it will make for a great how-I-spent-my-summer-vacation story, right?”
“I wish you didn’t feel you needed this.”
“It’s not like they’re hurling me into the lion pit.” Lucy stood up, decision made. “I mean, really, what’s the worst that can happen?”
