“I just got here today. I haven’t started looking.”
“Not much in Drag Creek, though the club does own some strip joints.”
“I’m not going to be a stripper.”
“Not even a private performance. I got a stack of ones. I tip good, Sweet Ass.”
“Wow. Okay, Vega, Vegas whatever your name is. I’m not going to take my clothes off for you. I don’t even know you.”
“Not yet, but hey, I need a housekeeper.”
“Motherfucker, you don’t even have a house.” Sawyer chuckles.
“Don’t listen to him. My grandpa is looking for someone to help him with errands and cooking and shit. I could put in a word if you’re interested.”
“Sure.”
“Perfect. Gimme’ your number.” I pull my phone out, and I can see Sawyer shaking his head at me.
Tina takes my cell phone from me and enters her information into my contacts. I grin when I see what she listed her number under. Sweet Ass. That she is. Damn what I wouldn’t give to throw her over my shoulder and take her upstairs to my room at The Roadhouse right about now. I’d throw her down on the bed and suck on her pussy till she creams on my tongue. Make her pull my hair, scratch those pink nails down my back, and dig the balls of her feet in my ass.
Chapter 3
—Tina
My phone starts buzzing. I look at Vegas, but he smirks and holds his hands up. I swear if he sent me dick picture, I am going to punch him right in the nuts. I open my messages. It’s Matt. I frown.
Matt: Where are you, baby? I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it.
They said you just up and quit your job and your stuff’s just gone.
I get that you’re upset just talk to me, please. I love you.
Matt: Please. Tina, we need to sit down and talk this through face to face.
Matt: Come home. Let’s talk.
The ringtone I have set for his number starts blaring and Vegas gives me a look. I smile, but I wish Matt would go away. I’m not answering him. I hit ignore. Matt needs to leave me alone. We have nothing to talk about.
“Ready for cake?” Sawyer is grinning at my bestie like he has plans to devour her instead of cake.
“Sure.” She smiles and tucks her hair behind her ear.
“I thought you said the baby hates chocolate,” I blurt out, then immediately slap a hand to my mouth, and freeze in place. Dang. I just let out Camreigh’s secret. She’s pregnant and the baby is Sawyer’s…a product of their one-night stand. He invited her over tonight, and she made me tag along. Me and my damn big mouth.
Her face drops and the room goes quiet, other than Thea, Sawyer’s daughter yelling for her cake. “Cake, Daddee. Cake.” She yanks on the sleeve of his shirt with her spaghetti stained fingers.
Sawyer is staring at Camreigh and though his mouth is open like he is going to speak no words are coming out. He’s in shock. I guess I would be too if I were in his shoes. I feel like such an asshole right now. I didn’t mean to out her. I promised her I’d keep her secret until she decided what she wanted but the words just slipped out.
“I’m sorry, Cam,” I whisper.
She shakes her head and offers me a weak smile as she turns back to Sawyer. “Can I talk to you in private?”
“V, can you get Thea some cake please.” Sawyer nods to Vegas, his friend that Cam was trying to set me up with tonight.
“Yeah, man. You got it.”
Vegas moves to get the cute little girl a slice of chocolate cake. My cheeks are burning with embarrassment. Camreigh and Sawyer have gone outside to talk. The little girl takes a bite or two of the cake before her eyes start fluttering closed. “I think that one is ready for bed.”
Vegas looks over at the dark-haired beauty and grabs a wet paper towel to wipe her off with. “Come on, jellybean.” He cradles her in his arms and carries her down the hall. I don’t know what to do with myself, so I walk into the living room and take a seat on the couch.
Vegas returns not even two minutes later, and he goes into the kitchen and returns with a beer. Camreigh wasn’t lying. He’s got an air of danger about him. Dark hair and even darker eyes that remind of a starless night. I tiptoe to the large window and peek out the blinds. The conversation my bestie and Sawyer are having looks intense. I am sure the man is in shock and he has every right to be angry. They recently reconnected and now he finds out because of my fat mouth that she’s pregnant. I’m the worst. If this goes bad for Camreigh, I won’t forgive myself. Vegas comes up behind me and his hand goes to my hip. His chin rests on the top of my head because he is that much taller than me. He keeps finding ways to touch me, and I don’t know how to feel about it. “We should let them talk. Come on, Sweet Ass. I’ll give you a ride.” He pinches me on the ass and chuckles when I let out a squeak.
The two of us give Camreigh and Sawyer a wave goodbye. I guess I misinterpreted the dark look on Sawyer’s face for anger instead of passion. The way he’s all up on her now it appears he may screw her right here on the porch. I definitely don’t want to stick around for the show.
Vegas’ large hand engulfs mine as he leads me toward the back of the Black Rebel Riders’ MC Clubhouse also known as The Roadhouse. I look down at our hands joined together and my stomach flutters. He’s got tattoos for days and I’m just plain ol’ me.
“My bike’s parked out front. We can cut through.” He pulls the door open, keeping a firm grip on me. As he leads me down a dark narrow hall, I vaguely recall the place from the time Camreigh darted in here to use the bathroom and ended up leaving with Sawyer. That was like three months ago. I never thought I’d find myself back here again.
Emerging from the hallway we enter the bar area. It’s not as crowded as imagined it would be. There’s club members wearing black leather vests similar to the one Vegas is wearing over his black t-shirt. “Look what the cat dragged in,” someone calls out in a deep and gruff voice.
“Just passing through, Country.” Vegas drops my hand and him and the big hairy man bump fists.
“Who’s your friend?”
“None of your concern. We’re not staying.”
“Maybe she wants a drink or two.” Country grins at me, then blows me a kiss, and I can’t stop the giggle that leaves my lips.
Vegas’ gaze shoots back to me, those dark eyes narrowing on me. “Some other time.”
I glance around the bar wondering why Vegas is in such a hurry to get me out of here. It was his idea to cut through the bar to get to his motorcycle. It takes me a minute but then I see some chick bent over a table. One man is behind her and another is filling her mouth. My face must be beet red. The scene before me looks like the set of a porno flick.
“Maybe she wants to stay and watch.” Another older guy joins the conversation. A patch on his vest reads: Romeo.
“Shouldn’t you be home with your old lady,” Vegas tells him.
Before this Romeo guy can respond a busty blonde comes up and plants a kiss on his lips. She turns to me and holds out her hand. “I didn’t know Vegas had a girlfriend. I’m Jordan Marie.”
I shake her hand. “Name’s Tina, but I’m not his girlfriend.”
“You don’t look like one of the club girls. No offense.”
“She’s new in town.”
“Did someone say fresh pussy?” A random voice hoots.
“Let’s go now,” Vegas growls and jerks me toward the door.
“It was nice to meet you, Jordan,” I call over my shoulder and wave. Outside Vegas leads me to a motorcycle with the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas sign painted on the gas tank.
“Put this on.” He hands me a helmet, shoving it in my hands like it’s on fire and he can’t get rid of me fast enough. Maybe he wants to hurry back and enjoy the festivities. “I’ll drop you at Camreigh’s apartment. You said that’s where you’re staying, right?” There’s a hard edge to his voice that has me wondering if I did something to upset him. I guess the offer to crawl into his bed is off the table. Not that I was pla
nning to accept. His attention was nice. No matter how short lived it was.
Chapter 4
—Vegas
Rolling up to the back of the bakery with Tina’s arms wrapped around me, part of me wants to just keep riding. The practical part of me knows I need to send her on her damn way. The woman has me in knots and we only just met. Back at the clubhouse I was having lots of jealous thoughts that were about to do my damn head in. I didn’t want any of my brothers looking at her and getting any ideas of messing with her. Which is fucking crazy. She’s not mine. Hell, she don’t even like me I don’t think. I park behind what I assume is her car and walk her up the stairway.
I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing, but I’m not ready for the night with her to end. “You gonna invite me in?”
“Do you want to come in?”
“Darlin’, I always wanna come.” I grin, and she shakes her head.
“I’m not going to sleep with you if that’s what you’re after.”
“I don’t want to sleep with you. I want to fuck you. There’s a difference.”
“Vegas…” She can’t stop the laughter that bubbles up from her chest as she unlocks the door. I follow her inside, and she spins around to face me. “Something you should know now. I just ended a relationship yesterday. I was engaged and with the same guy since middle school. I don’t fuck around. I’m not that girl. I wish I were, because I think you’d be a good time.”
“A good time is exactly what you need. You’ve only been dicked by one man in your life.” Her face goes red and she looks down at her feet. I tuck my finger under her chin and lift. “Don’t tell me you’re a virgin, Sweet Ass.” Her hazel eyes meet mine and hurt shines back at me. “Did someone hurt you?”
“Just my pride. Don’t worry about me. I’m a big girl.”
“Whoever let you get away is an idiot.”
“How would you know? We’ve only just met. I could be a psychotic bitch.”
“Nah, you don’t have crazy eyes.”
“And what kind of eyes do I have?” Her lashes flutter and her pretty lips quirk into a sexy smile.
“Soulful.” I dip my head down and press my mouth to hers. At first, she’s surprised, but the moment my lips move and my tongue presses against the seam of her pout, Tina opens to me. Her soft lips part further and her warm tongue slides alongside mine. Fucking sensual. She’s a damn good kisser. A moan slips out and the sultry purr travels to my dick. There’s no denying that I want to grab her and have my way with her. Though I’ll settle for this for now.
Tina breaks away flushed. A coy smile plays at her mouth and she clears her throat. “You thirsty?” She moves into the kitchen and gets herself a water.
“I’m good.” I remove my cut and lay it over the back of the couch before sinking down into the cushions. “Bring your pretty-self over here.” I can sense that I make her nervous. Bet that loser she was with didn’t know how to treat a real woman. Taking a seat at the other end of the couch she puts some distance between us. Smart girl. Though it won’t deter me. “Whatchu’ doin’ all the way over there? I don’t bite…hard—unless you want me to.”
Wetting her lips, she pauses and takes a long pull from her bottled water. “Honestly…you terrify me.”
“I’m not that scary.”
“No.” She shakes her head. “It’s not that. It’s just…this may sound crazy and weird, but I feel more heat between us than I have ever felt with Matt in all the years we were together.”
“We have chemistry. It’s the laws of attraction. You’re sexy, I’m good looking. We’re both single and very much alone and two consenting adults.”
“Hold that thought.” She leans forward and grabs her buzzing purse from the coffee table. She pulls out her cellphone. Staring at the screen she rolls her eyes and sighs.
“That him?” She nods and before she can protest, I grab the device from her hands and answer the call. “Sweet Ass’s phone.”
“Who the hell is this?” Some whiney dickhead squeaks in my ear.
“The motherfucker who is ten seconds from being balls deep in your ex. That’s who. Don’t call her phone no more unless you want to know how my size fourteen boot will feel stomping a new hole in your ass. Feel me?” The line goes dead and Tina is gaping at me with big eyes. I hand her phone back. “Where were we? That’s right you was about to tell me about yourself.”
“I was?” She hesitates, confusion dripping from her voice.
“Wanna know all about you.”
“Why? I thought you just wanted to fuck me.”
“I didn’t say when I was going to do it, but if you’re ready to climb over here and ride my dick, I’m all for it.”
“You’re a cocky asshole.”
“Don’t act like you don’t want to. I can practically smell how wet you are between those thighs. I bet you have on a white cotton granny panties, and if I stuck my hand down them and felt, they’d be soaked.”
Her breath visibly hitches in her throat and her lips part. I want to kiss her again, but I’ll wait. “I think it’s time for you to go.”
“If that’s what you want…” I slide to her end of the couch. “But I think we both know that you want me to stay.” I take her face between my large hands, and she gazes into my eyes, hers swirling with a thousand emotions.
My phone rings in my back pocket. Shuffling on the couch I maneuver to pull it out. “This better be important.” I walk outside and take the call from Dutch.
“Fucking Marissa showed up at Saw’s and pulled a gun on him.”
“Goddamn is everyone okay?”
“It’s all good now. Just thought you should know.”
“Thanks, D.” I end the call. I walk back inside and sit back down.
“Is everything okay?” Tina touches my arm.
“It will be.” I text Sawyer and he says it’s under control, so I don’t worry Tina with the details. I am sure Camreigh will tell her all about it tomorrow.
“So um…this housekeeping job for your grandpa you mentioned what’s it entail?”
I scratch the back of my neck. “My Gramps is a hateful old buzzard who thinks he doesn’t need anyone, but he’s old, and since his hip replacement, he isn’t getting around like he used to. I want someone who can be around to look after him when I’m not able. There’s times when I gotta go out of town, and I worry that he’ll fall or burn the damn house down.”
“That’s really sweet that you look out for him.”
I shrug. “He raised me. He’s all I got outside of the club.”
“What’s that like? Being in the club that is?”
“There’s a lot I can’t tell you but we’re a family and we look out for each other.”
“Are you into illegal stuff? You ever killed anyone?”
“You’re asking a helluva lot of questions.”
“I want to know who I am potentially going to work for.”
“None of what I do is anything for you to worry about. The club mainly deals in moonshine. The less you know the better.”
“So you’re a bad boy with a big heart. You’re dangerous.”
I chuckle. “Why am I dangerous?”
“Because I’m a good girl and you make me crave bad things.” Her pearly whites sink into her bottom lip. The action is erotic, and she has no fucking clue how sexy she is.
“Baby, I’m no boy. I’m all man.” Tina smiles but it morphs into a yawn, and I know I need to call it a night. I could try to take advantage of the situation and seduce her, but she deserves better than that. Better than a prick like me who just wants to get his dick wet.
Chapter 5
—Tina
Matt: Tina at least answer me, so I know that you’re okay.
Matt: I’m worried about you. This isn’t like you. Please talk to me.
Matt: Who the fuck was that guy last night?
Matt: Is there someone else? Did you leave me for another guy?
I drop my phone into my lap. He never ca
red the whole time we were together. I was convenient for him. That’s all.
“Was that Matt again?”
“Yup. He’ll get the hint eventually.”
“So are you going to tell me what happened when Vegas drove you back to the apartment or what?” Camreigh singsongs picking at her bacon.
I shake my head at my best friend. “There’s nothing to tell. Seriously he gave me a ride.”
“Hmm.” She purses her lips. “I bet he did.”
“On his motorcycle.” I bring my coffee mug close to my nose and inhale the scent of caffeinated goodness. “You’re the worst.”
“I’m a realist. You didn’t even give him a kiss?” She tilts her head to the side and pops a bite of scrambled eggs and cheese into her mouth.
“Stop it. It wasn’t like that. Geez. He told me we should give you and Sawyer some space. Said he’d give me a ride on his Harley. Not everyone is looking for sex all the time.” I try to keep my thoughts from drifting to that kiss we shared last night. The man made my knees buckle and my insides melt.
Her face falls but deep down she knows I didn’t mean it the way it sounded. Just because she had a one-night stand that resulted in her being pregnant doesn’t mean I think any less of her. Everything worked out for the best in the end. Her and Sawyer are talking and judging by the fact she didn’t roll through the door until dawn she spent the night with the man.
“You know I didn’t mean anything toward you.”
“It’s fine.” She rubs her palms together off the side of the table of the diner, the crumbs from her toast falling to the floor like snowflakes.
“What’s your plan now that you and Sawyer are on the same page?”
Her frown disappears as her lips lift into a smile. “He wants me to move in with him and Thea.”
“Shit. So soon. What the heck did you say to that?”
“I told him I’d think about it, but I can’t just go pack up my bags and move in. We hardly know each other. I can’t just dive headfirst without thinking about the repercussions if we aren’t compatible. Sure, the sex is wonderful, but he has a daughter, and I’m freaking pregnant with his kid. What if he decides he hates my cooking or…” she trails off, “Not to mention his crazy ex. She showed up last night.”
