The First Era Page 14

The man spoke to Ahava with a sneer. “Human, I know what's behind your power and I know what it wants. This is just a game that you are a pawn in.”

Ahava answered back with a smile, “Well, that's good to know, as I don't know what's happening, I don't know what I want, except to go home, and as for a being a pawn, you're probably right. If you could fill me in, that would be great, as nobody else has bothered yet.”

A look of surprise was shown on the man’s face, then it turned into a look of anger. Suddenly he threw the spear with massive force at Ahava. The spear accelerated like lightning, hitting him in the side of his lower abdomen. If the power of the armor had not deflected the spear then he would have been ripped in two. Now Ahava was just kneeling on the floor with it in his side. Ahava managed to pull the spear out using his strength alone. He sent his full healing power into the wound. But there was some magical element that wouldn't let it heal fully and he was left with more blood pouring down his side. Using his fire element on his side, he managed to seal the wound by burning it, so that he would not bleed out and die quickly.

By the time Ahava looked up, the man was upon him. He just managed to block a thrust of a dagger with his own dagger. Getting slowly off his knees he managed to push back at the man with his dagger. Trying to finish this quickly, Ahava blasted a massive jet flame straight up the man's face. He used a mixture of earth, air and fire elemental powers to get a mixture of grinding hot flames. This mixture of powers not only heated up the face of the man but ate away with the sharp bits of earth. The man screamed in agony and put his face behind his shield. Using is an opening Ahava swung his dagger, deep into the side of the man. He managed to get a space between the armor. Ahava also added a rotating flame to the edge of the sword and easily cut through the flesh of the man.

The man's body fell onto the floor, withering in agony as Ahava beheaded him with the sword and rotating flame.

In the distance, the orc army watched the horde being pushed forward by the demons. The demons had managed to rain down magical spells onto the army. The shaman had managed to ward off most of the powerful spells, but now the tribe’s magic was exhausted. The army was exposed the full wrath the demons. Suddenly the demons stopped pushing the horde forward and fled. With the demons’ magic now gone, it was time for the orc army to crush and grind the horde to nothing.

Ahava sat over the dead body, looking at the decay and death fatigue caused. The face of the body was a disgusting mess of blood and bone.

In his mind, he heard the sarcastic tone of Thoth voice. “Well, he's not as good-looking as he used to be. I don't know, maybe this is an improvement on his face. He was getting a bit angry toward the end, which can give you a disfiguring look.”

Ahava said while he was fully healing the wound, “Welcome back, and what do you have to say for yourself? Am I the only one with no clue of what's going on? Or do you just keep me in the dark for your pure pleasure?”

Thoth chuckled in his mind and said, “Well, yes there is a certain pleasure in just aggravating you. But one cannot keep this pleasure going on forever and it must end at some point. I still have a distance to go with this joy. But here is some information about your part in a great game. The game is not a computer game or board game; it is a universal game all about control, destiny and freedom. At the moment we are only in the clean-up stages of the game, just preparing for the first act to start. You have much more to do, much more power to gain, before you can become a major player in the game. Yes, you are still a pawn in the game, but you are a pawn with promise. I will be in contact with you later. Ta-ta for now.”

With that, Thoth left Ahava alone in the shrine. Moving over to the disfigured bodies, he pulled in the elemental flux power inside himself. He looked at his gain in stats and smiled:
