“You’re a married man now,” Hawk chuckles, bringing his beer bottle to his lips.
I lift my chin. He knows that’s not why I’m here to talk to him. “You need to talk to her,” I state.
He grunts. “I left her with that bitch, I abandoned her. She hates me, and she has every right to. I was only thinking of myself,” he announces.
“You didn’t tell shit to anyone as to why you left. We all thought you were just some goddamn asshole who didn’t want your kid and wife. We didn’t know,” I say. “Trista didn’t know.”
He looks at his feet, then back up to me. “I killed her mother after I did unspeakable things to her. I didn’t feel an ounce of remorse for any of it, either. How do I face my daughter?”
I shake my head. “Same way I face Buster every fuckin’ day. I practically snatched the kid from his mama, didn’t give her even a chance to try. It was a dick move. I did it and I don’t regret even a second of it, though.”
He snorts. “Not the same. I left Trista with the coked out bitch. I spent twenty years fucking, partying, and drinking with no regards to my kid.”
I wrap my hand around his shoulder and give him a squeeze. “Talk to your daughter. Get some peace between you, if nothing else.”
Turning around, I leave him alone. He doesn’t need me preaching to him about how to be a parent. I’ve given him my opinion. I’ve talked to Trista too. She’s waiting for his next move. When that will be, I don’t know. Hopefully soon. Today it’s no longer my concern, my only concern right now is when I’m going to be able to bury my cock in my sweet bride.
Presley looks up at me from where she’s standing with her family. Her eyes meet mine and I watch them flare with desire. She’s thinking the same thing. I watch as she licks her bottom lip, then she bites the corner. I smirk at her, my lips twitching as I prowl toward her.
The wedding is over. At least, our part in it. I’m not waiting another goddamn minute before I take her to bed and celebrate not only our vows but also that baby I planted inside of her. I reach for her, wrapping my hand around her waist and tug her against me.
“Joel,” she calls out once I’m at her side. She turns her head to look up at me. “Take me back to our room,” she breathes.
“Te llevaré a donde sea, mi vida.”
It’s true. I will take her anywhere. She is indeed my life.
About the Author
As an only child, Hayley Faiman had to entertain herself somehow. She started writing stories at the age of six and never really stopped.
Born in California, she met her now husband at the age of sixteen and married him at the age of twenty in 2004. After all of these years together, he’s still the love of her life.
Hayley’s husband joined the military and they lived in Oregon, where he was stationed with the US Coast Guard. They moved back to California in 2006, where they had two little boys. Recently, the four of them moved out to the Hill Country of Texas, where they adopted a new family member, a chocolate lab named Optimus Prime.
Most of Hayley’s days are spent taking care of her two boys, going to the baseball fields for practice, or helping them with homework. Her evenings are spent with her husband and her nights—those are spent creating alpha book boyfriends.
