  We agreed.

  (To be fair, Mare was on a lot of morphine. I just enjoy getting married.)

  Save a man’s bear and suddenly you’re worthy of his granddaughter.

  And then Mare and I were husband and wife.

  It was a good couple of months, wasn’t it, Mare? Wow…now that I think about it, eight months. My longest marriage yet. It was fun! We worked well together…

  Too well.

  We began to blur around the edges. As I’ve said, a strong sense of personal identity is the most important part of being an Agent. When we began to mirror each other’s beliefs, we both knew it was time to separate. At least, until the next time we met in the supply closet.

  Ah, Mare. Neither of us will ever have a one true love, but I’m always glad to have you.

  You’re the best, babe.
