  The girls shrilled.

Emoni grabbed my arm. “What happened after that night? Did he call you weeks later?”

I twisted my fingers in my long hair. “He held me hostage.”

  Her brows rose. “What?”

“Yes, he asked me to spend the weekend with him. Then he never wanted me to leave. I didn’t think I’d ever have a happy life. I certainly wasn’t looking for a man. Brandon was determined to make me his.”

Sydney stared at me starry eyed. “I love hearing your story. That man loves you so much.”

Samantha sighed. “Yes, he’s so swoon worthy. The day Brandon saved Sebastian’s life, you were so worried about him. You ran into his arms, wrapping your arms and legs around that man. I was like ok then. It was a Hallmark movie moment.”

  Everyone laughed.

“I’m new to the group.” Emoni blushed. “So I hadn’t heard the assassin wives’ stories. Samantha, how did you meet Jacob Latters?”

The smile on Emoni’s face was bright as the sun. She was crushing on Jacob. I mean who here hadn’t, but once you hung around him enough, you realize he’s just like the rest of us.

Sydney snorted. “It’s ok, Emoni. We’ve all been a little star struck over Jacob. After next week his stardom won’t affect you.”

Sydney glanced at Samantha. “Tell her the gory details.”

“Ok. I was working on a planning project in secret for Jacob Latters.”

  “Why?”

“Because he didn’t want to be involved in the actual planning of his event. I stood in the background as my team and I observed him in his element. The next time I saw him, our eyes locked. I left the room. There was no way I’d sleep with my TV star crush.”

Emoni’s mouth gaped. “He was your favorite TV star?”

“Yes, I know right.” Samantha shook her head. “Just crazy. Low and behold, he found me in the cafeteria. He asked my name, and I told him my middle name. I didn’t want him to know my real name. That’s when the lies and our roller-coaster ride begin.” She raised her finger. “Because he was a movie star, I refused to sleep with him.

Our first time was right out of a fairytale book. I stood at the end of the bed and watched him sleep after we made love. It was so surreal.”

“Shit, I bet. You fucked the most handsome celebrity in Hollywood,” Emoni gushed.

“Once the shit hit the fan, and he found out who I really was, he still couldn’t leave me alone. It was the craziest shit. I couldn’t leave him alone either until I had a miscarriage.”

“What?” Nadine’s jaw slacked. “I didn’t know that.”

“Jacob and I have been to hell and back. After we were married it felt like our life together continued to crash. I’ve been kidnapped by a stalker fan. I was lost at sea in Russia and surfaced in Alaska. All this happened after we learned our parents hypnotized and made us teen spies. We were in love with each other. We’re like two different people living in one body. When we performed missions, our code names are Skylar and Hunter.” Samantha's eyes danced over our faces.

  “Want to hear something weird?”

Emoni leaned in, hanging on every one of Samantha’s words. “What?”

“Now that we recovered those memories, I want to fuck Hunter sometimes.”

“Whoa, that shits deep.” My mouth dropped open.

“Yeah, my alter ego Skylar threatened to cut his pretty face. She doesn’t care for his acting persona Jacob. She and Hunter fought together.”

“Girl, stop,” Sierra slapped Sam’s arm.

“Your relationship is toxic and explosive at the same time.”

“Imagine your father hypnotized you on your wedding day. The man lying in the hospital bed in a coma is the love of your life. You’re told you were separated for years and now you’re married to him.”

“Girl, that’s some crazy shit.” Nadine shook her head.

“But we’re good now. We go through normal couple shit like anyone else.”

“Anymore crazy fans?” I slurped down my winesicle.

“No but I think he has an obsessive co-star. Jacob recently requested my presence on the set every day. I’m there to remind the handsy co-star that he’s happily married. He has nothing to worry about. As long as she doesn’t do anything crazy, I won’t have to kill her.” Sam grinned.

“She’s dead ass too.” Sydney palmed her forehead.

“Oh, please.” Sam waved her hand. “I think we’ve all experienced a crazy woman once or twice. The ones who don’t know how to let go of our husbands. I mean women so desperate they’ll settle to lick their sweaty balls.”

Carmen’s forehead creased. “Their impetuous. My husband’s ex kidnapped him.”

“You’ve come a long way, Carmen. I’ve never figured you for a killer. Although a woman when threatened will do what’s needed to keep what’s hers.” Emoni tilted her glass toward her.

She shook her head. “The serpent’s keep coming. So many of them want my husband. I can see it now. The moment he’s elected into office, they’ll lie in wait naked on my husband’s desk. He’s made it clear he only wants me, but the vile bitches don’t give a shit.”

“Do you have a problem with anyone in particular, Carmen?” Nadine arched a brow.

“Nothing, I can’t handle.” She sucked down the winesicle.

  “We’re sisters,” Nadine growled.

  CHAPTER FIFTEEN

  ZOEY

  ASSASSIN WIFE

“I THINK WE SHOULD MAKE it official,” Sierra scanned our faces.

“What are you thinking?” Samantha scooped a forkful of chicken salad into her mouth.

“A blood oath.” Sierra lips tipped up at one end.

  “Become blood sisters.” Sydney smiled.

“Great, Nadine and I will begin the ceremony. We need a pin.” Samantha glanced over her shoulder.

“I have a pin. One sec.” Sierra hopped up and scurried to the bedroom.

“On your way back, can you dim the lights?” Samantha called over her shoulder.

Sierra came into view. “Sure thing.” She lowered the lever on the wall. Darkness surrounded us. Minimal light overhead shined down.

“Hold hands everyone.” Nadine’s eyes darkened and her pretty plump lips held firm.

“The women in this circle will stand together. Whenever any of us have a problem, we can trust that we can confide in any woman in this room. No matter the problem,” Nadine stated.

“This is an eternal bond. Not even death can break it. We ride together no matter what. If you aren’t able to take an enemy out, you can trust one of us will. Like a thief moving through the night. Your enemy won’t know what hit them.” Samantha released a devilish laugh.

“No outsiders are to penetrate this circle. Sierra’s cousin Lydia will join us. For those who were in my bunker standing with their husbands understand the power of our circle. Jacob and I are often assigned missions. We keep this world safe. Sydney and Zoey have assisted on several missions. We may call on you ladies in the future. Will you fight with us if needed?” Samantha’s eyes narrowed.

“Yes,” fell from each of our lips.

“Don’t say it if you don’t mean it,” Nadine challenged.

“I am a hit woman by trade. What I do is dangerous and risky. My husband and I hide in the shadows, waiting for our prey. Then we kill them.” She bit her lower lip.

Someone loved to kill. By her husband’s side, no doubt. Fighting alongside Brandon brought comfort. I was worried about him. Zoey, now isn’t the time.

“Nadine, you know we don’t have a problem killing. In the mafia world, we’ve come together to handle problems. Tonight, we’re uniting the assassins and mob wives.” Sierra held her head high.

“If anyone would’ve told me I would have met a group of women like this before I stepped foot in that safe house, I wouldn’t have believed them.”

“Sierra, me either. I was a shop owner, not a killer.” Emoni’s head dipped to the side. “N
ow I have no mercy for liars, thieves, and rats.”

“That’s the model mob wives live by. I’ve seen my husband in action. I’ve seen first-hand how we deal with thieves. I’m down. If I need help, I’ll holler.”

“We don’t believe you Carmen.” Emoni met her gaze.

“We don’t have to kill for you. We’re here as muscle or surveillance. Maybe you need her followed to the nail or hair salon. We can eavesdrop.”

Nadine shook her head. “We can store her in a warehouse until you’re ready to play.”

Carmen’s lips curled upward. “Sounds good.”

“Pass the pin around and prick your fingers.” Samantha stuck her finger than passed the pin to Nadine.

“This is our circle of trust.”

Nadine passed the pin to Sierra. “Circle of refuge.”

My heart beat banged against my rib cage. These women were my safe haven.

“Circle of acceptance.” Carmen’s eyes welled with tears. I squeezed her knee.

  “Circle of love,” I sniffled.

Emoni pricked her finger. “Circle of understanding.” She swiped at a tear.

  “Circle of honor.” Sydney beamed.

A shiver shot through my body. Not in a bad way in a comforting manner.

Samantha raised her finger. “Press your fingers together.”

Our blood-stained fingers met around our circle.

  “Join hands.” Samantha smiled.

We raised our hands high in unity.

“This circle is all girl power,” Samantha roared.

Tears streaming down our faces, we shouted. “Girl power.”

I’ve never belonged until I met these women.

“I love you all.” Body shivering, the tears poured down my cheeks.

  Everything was a haze.

Suddenly, I was surrounded by my sisters.

“We’ve got you. There’s no way we will let anyone hurt you,” Samantha whispered.

My heart beat slowed and a surge of heat swept through me. I love my strong sisters.

We broke apart and Emoni placed Kleenex in my hand.

“We need to turn up in here.” Sydney padded over in her Ugg slippers and tapped her phone. ‘Wrist’ by Chris Brown blared through the speakers.

“Time to play with the drinking dice. Grab your drinks, ladies.” I clapped my hands as I nodded to the beat.

“Shots, shots, shots,” Sierra yelled out as she sat the tray on the blanket.

  “I have treats.” Emoni.

My eyes widened. “Chocolate Oreos. My favs.”

I grabbed two off the tray.

“Emoni, tell us about your first night with Marco.”

She grinned like a school girl.

“Ok. Let me just start by saying when I saw Marco standing at the bar wearing a crisp tuxedo, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of him. He drank like a fish. I used his drinking to my advantage. He of course assured me he could drink me under the table. The second our eyes locked, I didn’t want our night to end. And it didn’t. We went back to his hotel room. Our lips barely detached from each other’s. My mouth watered the second I peeked at his chest. His body is a work of art. If I wasn’t so exhausted that night, I would’ve stared at his tattoos all night. We stood before each other naked.”

We were glued to her every word.

“I wanted to fuck him, but I chickened out. My past had reared its ugly head. We slept together in the nude. I never felt safer in my life. The first night we made love, it was nothing like I ever experienced.” She swept her fingers through her hair.

“He refused to wear a condom.” Emoni’s eyes fell to the floor. “Honestly, I didn’t want him to.”

I grabbed her hand. “Don’t be embarrassed. Doubt any of our husbands used condoms very long.”

“Yeah, don’t feel bad. Tony refused too.” Nadine grinned. “I damn sure didn’t want him to wear one.” She slammed her thighs together. Samantha laughed.

  “Sierra, what about you?”

She smiled. “Lyndsay did a number on Dillon. You’d think a man who looks like him would have women all over town. Not him. He said he was broken. We waited for what felt like forever to have sex. Dillon’s a giver.”

“I love a giver.” Carmen raised her eyebrows twice.

  Laughter filled the bus.

“His dick is a monster. I didn’t think I’d be able to take him. Thank God for his tongue game, because I was in total bliss when he slid inside of me.”

“Yes. Sierra, a man with tongue game is a must.”

We slapped hands, squealing and nodding.

“I like Carmen awoke to a surprise between my legs. He showed up at my house drunk. The next morning, I awoke to him eating my pussy. Y’all.” She shook her head, gripping Samantha and Emoni’s arms.

“It was the fuckin best. Shit, I love that man. I love that man.”

  We laughed hysterically.

“Last night, I tried pleading with him. You know the pack we made ladies. Not to have sex with our husbands.”

“Yeah, easier said than done.” Sydney shrugged.

  I sipped the cold vodka.

Carmen raised her hand. “After Dominic revealed his glistening face. He slid right in.”

My hand flew over my mouth. I almost spit vodka in Nadine’s face.

  “Girl you crazy.” I laughed.

“Zoey, seriously what was I supposed to say no don’t give me that good fucking dick?”

Her hands flayed in front of her. “Then he begged me to ride him.”

We fell against each other laughing.

“My husband is fine as hell. I didn’t have the strength to refuse him again. I’m hanging on by a thread. I look forward to us being with our husbands Friday.”

“Nadine, did you fuck Tony last night?” Carmen asked.

She scowled at me. “No, we shared a room with Zoey and Brandon.”

I folded my arms. “Girl bye, I heard him fucking your brains out this morning in the bathroom.”

Sierra shoved Nadine. “No, you didn’t try to pretend you didn’t fuck that man.”

A smile swept across Nadine’s lips. “Shit the second he called me kitten I was done.” She stuck her tongue out. I tossed the spongy, colorful dice at her.

“Zoey, I guess that was your roll.” She peeked at the dice. “Take a shot of Tequila.”

  “We don’t have any.”

“Zoey, girl, we got you. The mob wives don’t travel without our Patron.” Nadine hopped up.

  “That’s right,” Emoni sang.

“And roll one more time for putting me on blast.”

Nadine kneeled beside me and placed a shot glass in my hand.

I tossed the tequila to the back of my throat. Pounding my chest, I rolled the black dice. “Do five crunches,” I stated in a raspy voice.

“That’s easy for you.” Sydney clapped.

After I performed five perfect crunches, we continued the game.

TWENTY MINUTES LATER, I sucked down my fifth Jell-O shot.

“Nadine, are we following through on our plan?”

She snapped her fingers. “Zoey, yes. Come on. It’s me and you. Sierra, what do the guys take in their coffee?”

She scurried over. “Jasper likes cream until the coffee is light brown. Cruise likes cream and three teaspoons of sugar.”

“Great. Thanks, Sierra. I really hope this plan of mine works.”

I stirred the cream into Cruises piping hot coffee. “Me too.”

  “Here’s the kicker.” She snickered.

We dropped a sedative into the travel mugs and watched them dissolve.

I turned to the girls. “If this works. We are out of here in four hours.”

“Sounds like a plan.” Sierra shoved a hand full of chips into her mouth as she sat on her shins next to Sydney.

“I need to express this milk. I’ll watch from the bedroom.” Emoni chuckled.

“Act normal, you guys. We don’t want them to get suspicious.”
/>
  Samantha nodded.

Nadine and I strutted over to the Suburban.

Cruise rolled down the driver side window. “What are you ladies doing out here? It’s fucking freezing.”

“We wanted to give you guys a fresh cup of coffee since you can’t leave.” She grinned at Jasper at the passenger window. “We made the coffee just the way you guys like thanks to Sierra.”

Cruise bit out a grin. “Thanks.” He brought the cup to his lips. “I needed this.”

On the inside, I felt sad. We were betraying our own security to gain a little freedom.

Jasper raised his cup in the air. “Thanks ladies. See you all in the morning.”

  “Good night,” we sang.

The breeze whipped through the thin pajamas. Gripping my arms, I tried to conjure heat.

“Cruise was right. It’s freezing.” My eyes darted to the sky littered with stars. “The girls need to see this.”

Nadine glanced up as she tugged the door open.

  “Hey guys, come here.”

The girls poured out of the coach. Teeth clinched, hugging each other.

“Look up.” I pointed toward the sky.

Oh’s and ah’s fell from their lips.

“A starry night.” Samantha smiled. “I’ll never forget Jacob and I standing up under the stars in Italy. It was beautiful.”

Nadine tapped her index finger against her cheek. “I remember Tony fucking me on the balcony in Italy under the stars.”

“Yes, now that sounds like fun.” Sydney smiled. “Who hasn’t fucked under the stars?”

“Me.” Sierra scratched her head. “Maybe I have and didn’t look at the sky.”

“I haven’t.” They turned to me.

“This is our first real vacation in years.” I shivered.

Carmen wrapped her arm around me. “Come on. Let’s get inside.”

The tears burned the backs of my eyes. I shrugged out from under Carmen’s arm, ran to my bunk and slid the curtain closed.

Everyone appeared to be in a great place in their marriage, even Samantha. She and Jacob always had issues. My husband worked sixty plus hours a week. His father was ready for him to take over as chief.
