Eden's Gate: The Scourge: A LitRPG Adventure Page 76

by Edward Brody

You no longer have freedom of passage through: Mist Vale!

You have lost the trait: Elven Touch!

“Have you found out any information on Razza Jen’s whereabouts?” the Queen questioned.

I groaned as I rubbed my bruised hip. “What? No… not yet.”

“Of course not,” she said. “You’ve been too busy coddling orcs.”

  “Enough!” the King said sternly.

The Queen snorted, turned, and started riding away. The King, Adeelee, and the rest of her entourage fell in line with her.

“Remember your obligations, Ambassador,” the Queen cautioned. “If you’d like your privileges restored, I’d suggest you travel to Galien and complete the task you’ve been given.” She glanced at me over her shoulder one last time. “And if you value these people as much as you seem and wish to uphold the stability of Eden’s Gate, please… find me Razza Jen.”

  Author’s Notes

Every once in a while, I’ll read or hear a comment from someone saying that they wish Eden’s Gate was an actual video game. And oh, how I wish I was a video game designer and could turn this world into an MMO.

Wouldn’t it be fun to gather all the ingredients needed to make a disguise kit, infiltrate a city where you’re not wanted, and do a few dirty deeds until you get caught? How about using a memory stone to post bounties around an area for a player who you have a grudge against? Or maybe just building a small, inconspicuous village in the middle of a forest and slowly growing it into a capitalistic empire where other people come to trade? What about recruiting unique NPCs that are just as powerful as non-NPCs with the exception that they cannot respawn?

  I wish!

The last year and half has been a nightmare for me and a lot of other people. The world has had a wrench thrown in it due to a global pandemic, and I personally, along with others I know, have suffered a lot of consequences as a result. It would’ve been awesome to just escape into Eden’s Gate to get away from it all.

Producing The Scourge during this time was a challenge, and there were multiple delays, but somehow it turned into the longest book in the series so far. It was a lot of fun introducing you to a bit of the Wastelands, the orcs, and slowly unraveling more and more secrets of the world.

I’m sure there will be a few people who get stuck on the fact that Gunnar started his journey in Eden’s Gate determined to find his girlfriend and may consider him a disloyal asshole now that he’s straying from that determination after a few short months, but I did warn you in the first book that Gunnar wasn’t going to be a perfect hero who always makes righteous choices. He’s an average, twenty-one-year-old guy with some flaws, and I can assure you that most men at that age have absolutely no idea what they want. Will it be a choice he regrets in the future? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Thank you to everyone for helping me keep this series going, and if you enjoyed the book, please leave me a review on Amazon. It’s the best support you can give me, and I’m always thankful for that. It also assures me that you want the series to continue.

Feel free to message me, email, or drop a line on Facebook if you want to say anything about the book! I read all of my emails and messages personally, and I always have an open ear to your thoughts, ideas, or whatever you have to share. I love hearing from my readers.

‘Til next time, all. And let’s all hope we never have another year like 2020!
