  "That's distracting," Adam muttered.

"What?" Luc tried to make his voice as innocent as possible; he was pretty sure he'd failed.

"You know what." He gestured towards the screen. "How's that?"

Luc shifted his gaze for long enough to read the tweet. "Looks great. You might want to get a bit faster at writing them though. Ten minutes to craft two-hundred and eighty characters must be a record."

Adam scowled, which was not the reaction Luc had hoped to get from him.

  "It was a joke."

"A bad one." Adam lowered his chin. "I know I'm not as good at this shit as you, but I'm doing my best."

Luc reached out and touched Adam's shoulder before his brain could engage and tell his hand not to. But seeing as he'd done it, he chose not to move his hand away. "I know that. I'm sorry, I was just poking fun."

Adam jerked away from his touch and shifted his chair an inch to the left. "I told you not to touch me," he hissed.

Luc dropped his hand into his lap. "Trust me, you'd know if I was trying to touch you in that way."

If he stepped over that line again, there would be no doubt in either of their minds. He would make it absolutely clear what he wanted from Adam.

Adam put the tweet live and then switched tab to the Facebook account. "More words to write," he muttered. "Great. You actually enjoy doing this for a living?"

Luc chuckled. "There's a lot more to marketing than running social media accounts, but yes, I do enjoy it."

They lapsed into silence again as Adam typed, then deleted, then finally wrote a post.

"Too long," Luc said, when Adam had finished his fifth attempt. "Just because you have more space, it doesn't mean you need to use it."

"Why don't I just copy and paste the tweet, then?" Adam growled. "Or link the accounts. You can do that, right? Whatever I post on Facebook goes out as a tweet and vice versa?"

"Just because you can, it doesn't mean you should."

"Stop trying to sound clever. Everyone knows that saying."

"You know you're cute when you get annoyed," Luc said.

It was another instance of not engaging his brain fast enough. When Adam scowled, it spurred him to carry on. He'd already pissed his stepbrother off, what harm would it do to prod a little further?

"You get this adorable V shaped wrinkle right here." He pointed to the bridge of Adam's nose, his finger only a millimetre or two from actually touching Adam's skin.

Adam glared at him but didn't flinch away. "You're an ass."

Luc snatched his hand back in response to a knock at the door.

A second later, their dad opened it and peered into the room. "How's it going?"

"Great," Adam said, staring at the laptop screen again.

  "Yeah," Luc agreed. "Great."

Ken paused for a second, his gaze flicked between his two sons. "Good. Your mum called, she wants me to pick her up. We'll be back soon, okay?"

  "Okay."

He left, shutting the door behind him. Neither Luc nor Adam moved as Ken's footsteps faded away down the stairs. There was a pause for a minute or two and then the front door slammed shut with a rattle that reverberated through the house, reaching them on the top floor.

"That's a good post," Luc said. "Find a photo we haven't used yet and you're good to go."

Adam didn't make any attempt to attach a photo to the post. He sat with his shoulders hunched and his jaw clenched, staring at the screen.

"I'm sorry for being a jerk," Luc said. "Sometimes I don't know when to stop."

  "Apparently not."

Luc leaned forward so he could put his fingers on the track pad. "Do you want me to find a photo?"

Adam pushed his arm away roughly. "No. I want..." He balled his hands into fists in his lap. "I want..."

"What?" Luc asked. "What do you want?" He held his breath, not daring to let his thoughts wander the way they wanted to.

Slowly, Adam turned his head to stare at Luc. His eyebrows were drawn together and his forehead was crumpled. The V Luc had pointed out at the top of Adam's nose minutes earlier was even more pronounced.

"You," he whispered, raising his gaze to meet Luc's. Then he shifted forward, wrapped his fingers into Luc's hair and pulled him into a hard kiss.

  Chapter Twelve

  Adam

Adam had no idea what he was doing. No. That was wrong. He knew what he was doing; he didn't know why he was doing it. Was that even right? He'd said he wanted Luc. And he did. God, he did. But he knew he shouldn't. Kissing his stepbrother was a thousand kinds of wrong, but it wasn't stopping him from mashing his lips against Luc's or slipping his tongue into his mouth. Luc tasted delicious. But the position they were in, both sitting in chairs, leaning towards each other, was awkward as fuck.

  "The bed," he breathed.

"Are you sure?" Luc's eyebrows lifted in surprise.

"Shut up." If Luc kept asking that question, his head would win and he'd be out the door. He didn't want his head to win the battle that was going on inside him.

Still clutching Luc's hair, he wrapped his other arm around his stepbrother's back, dragged him to his feet and then propelled him towards the bed. Luc chuckled as he was pushed down, his body bouncing slightly against the whiny, springy mattress. It was a good thing no one else was home. Not that Adam would be doing any of this if there was anyone else in the house.

He knelt over Luc and grasped his T-shirt in his hands, pushing it up to Luc's armpits as he licked his way up his body. He started right at Luc's waistband, his tongue sliding over the coarse hair that trailed downwards to that tantalising place. He swept his tongue up, over Luc's abs and then traced the dip between Luc's pecs. Luc's hands tangled into Adam's hair, tugging him up so their mouths and tongues met again.

"You're making me hard," Luc whispered, as they broke apart to breathe.

"I thought you got hard just looking at me?" Adam's mouth curled into a smile as he spoke and yet his voice had come out as a wary tremble.

Luc licked his lips. "That's because you're hot."

Adam's head was screaming at him to stop and walk out. Yet here he was, talking shit to Luc whilst his lips were wet with his brother's saliva, his own dick hard and desperate to be released from his jeans. His body twitched towards the door, but he fought against it, plunging down into another kiss instead.

Luc grabbed his cock through his jeans. Adam shivered and moaned, thrusting his tongue deeper into his brother's mouth, before pulling away to stare down at him. Luc's dark eyes were wide and staring into his with so much passion, it made Adam's entire body ache with need.

"You're hard too," Luc said, as if Adam didn't already know it. "Hard for me."

  "Shut up," Adam growled.

It wasn't that he didn't like talk like that when he was in the mood but hearing those words in his stepbrother's voice was just plain wrong. Every time Luc spoke, it threatened to break the crazy spell of lust that Adam was under. Even though he knew that would be for the best, he didn't want it to happen.

"Just fucking kiss me," he ordered.

Luc's lips turned upwards into a sly grin. "Oh, I'll kiss you."

He flipped Adam onto his back, which was an awkward feat given the narrowness of the bed. But somehow they managed it without either of them toppling off. He grabbed Adam's wrists with one hand and pinned them above his head, before dipping his lips to Adam's collarbone. He nuzzled the collar of Adam's T-shirt aside, to find skin that was normally hidden. But he didn't kiss Adam. He took Adam's skin between his teeth and nipped it, making him gasp. Luc let go, chuckled and then kissed the slightly sore flesh. He pushed Adam's T-shirt up and swiped his tongue over each of his nipples until they were hard enough to suck. Adam shivered and wriggled beneath him as pleasure rippled through him.

"All that squirming is making me even harder," Luc said.

Why the fuck couldn't he shut up?

Luc straddled Adam, so their trapped erections were pressed against each other. He b
egan to thrust back and forth, bending over so he could continue to lick and suck Adam's nipples. Adam ran his fingers through Luc's dark hair. Too much styling product made his stepbrother's hair feel coarse and slightly sticky. He dragged Luc's face back to his own, thrusting his tongue into his brother's mouth again. If Luc kept grinding against him, he was going to shoot his load.

Not that anything they were doing should have turned him on. He should have felt repulsed, sick to the pit of his stomach. Instead, he was wanting more. He didn't know how to think or feel about that, so decided it was easier not to think at all and just do.

He pulled Luc's T-shirt off, so he had easy access to his stepbrother's body. He'd seen it a hundred times before, under far more innocent circumstances, but now he looked at it with lust. He ran his fingernails up and down Luc's back, revelling in the way Luc shivered beneath his touch. He found himself thrusting his hips up to meet Luc's, over and over as they dry humped each other. He wanted more. He wanted to feel Luc's dick against his own. Again, something he'd done before with other men, but this was different. He knew it was wrong to want to be that close to Luc, but he couldn't—or maybe didn't want to—put out the flames of his desire.

He hugged Luc's body tight to his and manoeuvred them both, so he was once more on top. Luc's mouth was set in a sexy smirk, his breathing rapid. Adam kissed his way down Luc's torso to his waist and then kept kissing the weakly defined planes of his stepbrother's abs as he undid his belt and jeans. Luc raised his hips up so that Adam could free him of his jeans and boxers, then he grinned up at Adam, his hard cock on show. It was fucking exquisite. Long and thick as it rested against Luc's thigh, the head deep red as blood engorged it.

"You've got me naked, now what are you going to do?" Luc asked seductively.

Adam ran his tongue over his lower lip. He was going to suck his brother's cock. He was going to take it deep into his mouth and make Luc go completely wild.

The front door slammed shut. Adam's heart raced and his body went cold. Knowing their parents were home was enough to make his cock limp.

"Shit," he hissed. He backed away, pressing his hands over his face. "Fuck."

Luc scrabbled to grab his clothes and put them back on.

What they were doing was wrong. If it wasn't, they wouldn't have needed to stop. Luc wouldn't have been rushing to make himself look presentable. Adam kept walking backwards, his thoughts racing, his stomach twisting. He felt so dirty.

"Adam," Luc said, reaching out to him.

He'd only managed to get his boxers and jeans on, but it was enough to prove to Adam that Luc also knew what they'd been doing was wrong in every way.

Adam shook his head, repulsed even by the sight of Luc. "We shouldn't have... Fuck."

"Adam, let's talk about this," Luc's voice was only just above a whisper.

"There's nothing to talk about," Adam replied through gritted teeth. "It's wrong. It's perverted."

But if it was wrong, why was his body still crying out for Luc's? He clenched his hands into fists, squeezed his eyes shut and let out the tiniest, quietest scream.

  "Adam."

He couldn't listen to Luc's pleas or petitions. He turned and fled to his own room, locking the door behind him.

Alone in his room, Adam paced back and forth. His emotions were pulling him two different ways, threatening to rip him in half. How could he have let himself get so carried away that he'd wanted to suck his brother's dick? Even as revulsion gripped hold of him, desire elbowed its way in as the image of Luc, lying on the bed with that fucking smirk on his face, his cock hard and thick, blossomed in his mind. He had wanted him. The kissing, the touching... He had wanted Luc.

He wasn't sure how far they'd have gone if their parents hadn't come home, but that didn't stop his mind from supplying him with the fantasy of what might have been. He would have made Luc cum, that was a definite. Maybe Luc would have repaid the favour. He hoped Luc would have sucked him off too. His cock hardened again at the thought. At the same time, his stomach flipped and bile rose into his throat. How could he want Luc, but be repulsed by the thought of being with him at the same time? It made no fucking sense.

What he did know, was that he needed some time away from his stepbrother to get his head straight. Monday seemed a long way away, even though it was already Friday. He wasn't sure he could act normally around Luc until he went to visit Mason, but he would have to try.

He took a few more minutes to compose himself, before traipsing downstairs. His parents were in the middle of throwing sandwiches together to take to the dance studio. He leaned against the kitchen doorframe, watching them talking, laughing and generally messing around. His dad smeared jam on Deborah's nose, making her scold him in a playful tone, before trying to wipe the red sticky mess off.

"You didn't quite get it all," his dad said, before kissing his wife's nose.

"Other people live here, you know," Adam said, announcing his presence.

His words prompted his parents to laugh even harder.

"Sorry," his mum said. "We were playing around."

"So I saw," he put on a stern voice. "Aren't you supposed to set a good example for your children?"

His father leaned back against the counter, eyebrows raised. "We are." He pulled Deborah into a hug. "How to maintain a positive relationship after twenty years of marriage."

They kissed one another and, although Adam let out an exaggerated groan, he also grinned at how happy they were. He wondered if he would ever be like that with anyone. If he would ever find someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

His dad had done it twice. At least, he thought his dad had been hopelessly in love with his mum. Not that he remembered them being together, or her at all. He'd seen photos, but she seemed abstract. She'd died when he was three. His dad had raised him with the help of his mum for a couple of years, which had been hard with his rehearsal schedules. Then he'd fallen in love with Deborah, his prima ballerina. They'd married, Adam and Luc had become brothers and, not long after, their parents had retired from professional dancing and opened the dance school.

The only time he had seen either of his parents truly unhappy, was when Luc had left and had barely contacted them. It had affected Deborah the most. She'd cried a lot. He crossed his arms, dipping his chin as he remembered it was essentially his fault that Luc had felt like he had to leave and mostly cut ties with them. And now, his confused behaviour was likely to drive Luc away again. He couldn't put his parents through that, especially not Deborah. When Luc went back home this time, it had to be a positive departure, with promises of actually keeping in touch and coming to visit. Which meant he had to sort his head out, fast.

"Are you okay?" Deborah asked. "You've been lost in your own little world these past few days."

He shrugged and smiled. "Just thinking about stuff. I'm fine."

"Anything we can help with?" his dad asked. "You know you can talk to us about anything."

Except the all too real possibility that he wanted to screw his brother. "I'm worried about the dance school," he said, which wasn't a complete lie, but it wasn't the true reason behind his odd behaviour, either. "I'm wondering what else I can do to help."

Deborah wandered over and put her hands on his cheeks, accidentally transferring a bit of jam to his face. "You're already doing so much," she told him. "You teach more hours than we pay you for, you've come up with an amazing set of lesson ideas," she glanced over her shoulder at her husband as she spoke. "And you're working with Luc on the social media side of things. We couldn't ask you for anything more." She kissed his forehead.

Adam tensed to stop himself from shivering. It felt wrong having her kiss him, when less than half an hour ago Luc's mouth and tongue had been all over him.

He cleared his throat. "If there is anything else I can do, tell me, okay?"

  "Right away," she assured him.

"I'm going to see Mason on Monday," he told them both. He wasn't sure why he hadn't mentione
d it before. "I figured half term was a good chance to catch up with him, as there aren't any regular classes on."

"That's a bit out of the blue, isn't it?" his dad asked.

Adam shook his head. "Not really. It's not like Mason and I haven't kept in touch. He wants me to see his new ballet. He's got a named part this time."

His mum smiled. "Oh, that's wonderful for him. Congratulate him from us, will you?"

"Sure." He stepped into the kitchen properly, trailing his fingertips along the kitchen table. "It's okay if I go, isn't it? I'll only be gone for two or three days."

  "Of course," his mum replied.

"We'll cover your exam coaching," his dad said.

"Thanks." Adam hadn't even seen the half term coaching timetable, though he knew there was one. He hoped his parents wouldn't have to juggle it too much to make up for his absence, but he had to get away.

"Right," his mum said, wrapping the last of the sandwiches in foil. "That's tea sorted. Are you good to go?"

"Yeah, let me just grab my bag."

He jogged down to the cellar to pick up the bag that contained his ballet and tap shoes, plus a change of clothes and a fresh towel. When he returned to the kitchen, his mum handed him a full water bottle, then he followed his parents out of the kitchen, towards the front door.

Luc was just coming down the stairs. He gave them all a wave goodbye, but it was Adam his gaze snagged on. Adam found himself staring back, his throat tightening. His lips tingled at the memory of kissing Luc and Christ, he wanted to do it again. He looked away sharply and hunched his shoulders, pushing away his undesirable thoughts.

  Chapter Thirteen

  Luc

Sunday was a lazy day in the Earnshaw house. There were no dance lessons, so the family relaxed in the house. They got up late, ate brunch rather than breakfast, watched TV or did gardening if the weather was nice enough. Adam spent some time in the cellar, dancing. Whilst that would normally have seemed like a great way to spend a Sunday, Luc was frustrated. He hadn't had a chance to talk to Adam alone since they'd been interrupted a couple of days earlier, which meant he had no idea where he stood with his stepbrother. The not knowing was killing him. Plus, of course, he was hopeful for a repeat. But for that to happen, they'd need the house to themselves, which wasn't an easy task.
