Drive Me Wild Page 5

by Jeannette Winters

Cole’s hands went to her bottom and lifted her to sit on his lap. She could feel his arousal through the layers of their clothing. The throbbing at her center was begging for the same attention he was giving her nipples.

But he lifted them both off the couch and asked, “Where?” Cole’s voice was husky with need. She pointed down the hall to the door on the left. In long strides, he carried her to the bedroom, where he placed her gently on the bed. “Beautiful…” he whispered when he looked at her, his raspy voice sending shivers through her. His dark eyes seemed to devour her and left her feeling exposed. But she didn’t try to cover herself.

Instead she sat up, reached for his shirt, and pulled it over his head. Jody could tell by the feel of him he was fit, but she sucked in her breath when she ran her hands over the muscles of his chest and arms. Damn he’s beautiful too. Her heart thumped wildly when he stepped back and removed his pants and boxers. It sent shudders through her, giving her a thrill and feeding her anticipation.

She lifted her hips and wiggled out of her shorts and panties as well. There was only one thing she wanted between them and right now it was hard and she was aching to touch it.

When she touched him, he brushed her hand away. “I’m barely keeping control sweetheart.” His hand travelled down to position his fingers at her entrance. She moaned and arched her hips in invitation. She was more than ready for him. When he finally slid his fingers into her, she gasped with need.

“Please Cole, I…I need…” The ache was so intense.

Cole inched himself lower and added his lips and tongue to the sweet torture. He was skilled and sent her senses reeling. His touches drove her mad, and left her begging for more. “Now, Cole, please,” Jody demanded, “I need you now.”

She thought he’d argue and she really couldn’t wait any longer. He left her for a moment to sheath himself. When he returned to her, he positioned himself at her entrance and she watched as he closed his eyes in pure ecstasy when he slid inside her, letting out a deep, raw growl. Over and over again, he filled her, each stroke killing her in the most pleasurable and sensual way she could imagine.

She heard his breath quicken, felt it on her skin, and knew the pressure was building. Knowing he felt the same sweet ache as she did amplified her desire, built on her pleasure, pushed her closer to the edge.

Soon, she was gripping the sheets for dear life as her body became so taut, she shook from the tension. She felt it coming, the bliss that one could only feel with such a connection. The waves began to wash over her. She cried out his name, closed her eyes, and arched closer to him as her body exploded into what felt like an endless tidal wave, leaving her weak.

Cole wasn’t far behind. He growled and gripped her roughly as he plunged deep into her, his own release taking over.

Completely spent, he collapsed on top of her.

When he tried to roll away, she squeezed her arms around him and said, “Not yet.” She was enjoying the weight of him on her. He didn’t resist, but adjusted himself so not all his weight was on her.

  “This is nice,” she said.

She felt him tense and then he said softly, “I don’t want to hurt you.”

The way he’d said it made her wonder if he was referring to his weight or something else. Was it possible he regretted what they had just shared? God, she hoped not. It had been amazing. Whatever it was, she didn’t want to know, not right now. Trying to ease his mind, she said, “You won’t.” At least I hope you don’t.

She didn’t consider herself fragile, at least not until that moment. There was something about being around Cole that made her feel…vulnerable. Maybe that was because she really liked him. With that came a set of feelings she hadn’t thought about in a long time. It was possible they were not on the same page as to where they wanted this to go.

Why am I worried about that? Just let it happen. Jody ran her hand up and down his back and kissed his shoulder gently. She felt him relax against her. Whatever this was, she wanted to enjoy every second of it. Tomorrow was going to come quickly enough. There was no need to rush it.

When she was about to drift off to sleep, she felt Cole stir beside her. He wasn’t leaving. Instead, he rolled onto his back and pulled her to rest on top of him. Now she knew he wasn’t going anywhere either.

Definitely better than cake. Closing her eyes, she nestled into him and went to sleep.

  Chapter 6

What she hadn’t thought about was, Cole needed to be at work in the morning. For some reason, Cole hadn’t wanted her to make him breakfast before he left. He did take a coffee though and told her he’d call her after work. That was good, because it meant whatever had made him tense up last night didn’t seem to be troubling him any longer.

Jody walked him to the door, and he gave her a sweet, tender kiss goodbye. The apartment felt so empty without him there. She headed back into the bedroom and lay across the bed. She wasn’t tired, but wanted the wonderful feeling to linger as long as possible. Even her sheets smelled like him.

Since she worked from home until she was actually running an event, there was no rush to leave this position. Of course, she really needed to get some things done. Jody lifted her head and saw her laptop sitting on the dresser. It can wait a few more minutes.

But then her cell phone rang, and that was something she shouldn’t ignore. Not many people would call her this early. Dragging herself off the bed, she picked it up off the nightstand and took it off the charger.

The caller ID said she was right. “Hello Mom.”

“Don’t hello me. I cannot believe what your Aunt Jane just told me.”

Jody wasn’t even going to try to guess. It didn’t take much to get those sisters in an uproar. Sometimes it was as simple as who saved the most shopping with coupons. “Mom, I was just about to get in the shower. Can I call you back later?” With any luck she would’ve forgotten about it.

“Oh I bet you’d like that, wouldn’t you? If I were you, I’d be counting my blessings that it is me calling and not your father.”

Her father hated talking on the phone and never called. “Okay Mom, what is it?”

“I saw a picture which doesn’t have your name, but I know darn well that it is you.”

Oh please don’t say it. “Maybe it isn’t.”

“Ha. I wish. What on earth are you doing? You said you were running your own business. What kind of business has you running around in a bustier?”

I shouldn’t have answered. This one was going to be hard to explain. “Mom, it’s a long story, and I don’t have time to tell it all right now.”

“I’ll take the short version. For now,” her mother said firmly.

“Okay, so I was running an event and I had major electrical problems. Cole—”

  “Who’s Cole?” she asked.

“Cole is the electrician who came and saved the day. If he hadn’t pulled off what I consider to be a miracle, the show might have been a flop.”

“I have no idea what that has to do with you being dressed like that,” her mother added.

“Well, he had a car in the show. It’s a really nice car too. But it takes a lot to get noticed. So I—”

“Don’t tell me that’s his car you were sitting on,” her mother blurted.

  “Yes Mom, it is.”

Her mother huffed. “Honey, if you can’t pay your bills, you should give up and come back home.”

“Mom, I didn’t do this for money. I wanted to do it for him.”

“I don’t think your father would approve of this Cole fella asking you to do this.”

“He didn’t ask Mom. I kind of…surprised him. I wanted to do it.” That was the truth. No one even suggested it. It was Jody who went up to one of the pinup gals and asked them if they’d lend her an outfit. They stopped what they were doing and primped her up until she looked the part. She didn’t want her mother or anyone thinking she was coerced into doing this. She was proud of doing what she wanted, when she wanted.

  “Jody, you can’t be serious?”

“Mom, you haven’t been to one of these events. I don’t want you thinking that these women are anything but wonderful and respectful people. And the Creeps Car Club is helping me build my business.”

“And will you be required to take your clothes off at all venues now?”

“Mom, I think you forgot who you’re talking to. I do things my way and only my way. If someday I do it again, it will be because I want to.” Although Jody couldn’t picture that happening anytime soon.

“Jody you’re so….stubborn. Why couldn’t you just become a teacher here in Maine like we wanted?”

“Because it’s what you two enjoy, but it’s not what I want. I’m not the classroom type. You should just be happy that I graduated. I hated school.”

“Oh Jody, I just want you to be happy,” her mother sighed.

“Then you can relax, because I am happy. I get to meet so many interesting people, and I like it here in Rhode Island,” Jody said honestly. She had tried different states, and had some luck there, but nothing felt right. Not like it did here. Thankfully Bobby had been a free spirit and had followed her from state to state. She wasn’t so sure how long he was willing to stay in Rhode Island, but hopefully he wasn’t going to bail on her. She counted on him and they made a decent team. One of the few who can put up with me being a perfectionist.

“I have to admit, you do sound…like you’re doing good. I guess I keep hoping you will come back home. We miss having you close by.”

“Mom, I can be there in six hours if you need me.”

“So are you saying that you’d like to come up for a visit this weekend?” her mother asked.

Oh that was smooth. Jody wanted to commit, but there was a part of her that was hoping for another date with Cole. He hadn’t mentioned anything, but one could hope.

“I’m not sure yet Mom. Can I get back to you on that?”

  “Are you working?”

“No. But I’m…hoping to do some sightseeing.”

“And will it be with this Cole person?” Jody didn’t respond and her mother said, “I see. That clarifies a lot. Maybe you’d like to bring him to Maine and show him the sights here.”

“Mom, we’ve just started getting to know each other. Let’s not make something out of it that it isn’t.”

“A mother can always hope. One of these days you’re going to find yourself a nice young fella and bring him home so we can meet him.”

“Someday Mom. Now, I really need to get going. Some of us don’t get the summer off.”

“Don’t remind me. School starts next week and I haven’t finished shopping for all my supplies.”

“You can do that this weekend. Love you Mom. Tell Dad I said hi,” Jody said, trying to end the call.

  “Love you too, Jody.”

Thankfully she hung up. Jody had wanted to put off work a bit longer, but now that she was out of bed, she figured she might as well start her day. She grabbed her laptop and headed for the living room couch. Jody had thought she’d picked everything up, but from where she was sitting she noticed her bra barely hanging on the lampshade on the other side of the room. In all the excitement, she’d lost track of what went flying where.

Jody smiled and decided that it wasn’t urgent to retrieve it now. Besides, it was a sweet memory that she didn’t want to part with just yet. She wasn’t sure what tomorrow would bring, but life was about making the best of the path you were on. I hope our paths continue to cross.

She forced herself to look away from the bra and focus on the task at hand. There was a vendor craft event being held on The Hill. She giggled as she thought, I wonder if lighting can strike the same place twice.

  * * *

Cole was dragging ass. He’d hardly slept last night, which he wasn’t complaining about, but today had been emergency after emergency. What the hell was going on? Normally Larry would be in the office and come out in the field when needed. Now Cole was doing dual roles. He was as good as Larry, but what he lacked was the time management. Maybe that’s because I’m also short a full-time guy in the field. Me!

This was the third night in a row he was getting out of work late. He’d promised Jody he’d call, and now felt like a piece of shit because he hadn’t. It would be one thing if they hadn’t had sex last night. Then he could just let her know he was busy and that would be the end of it. But you don’t sleep with a woman, especially one like her, and then nothing.

It was almost nine. He picked up his phone and looked at her number. It’d be so easy to call now and apologize and ask her out for another night. Odds are she’d say yes. Jody seemed as though she was the forgiving kind. But what she was willing to accept and what she deserved were two different things.

This was Cole’s home town. He’d bailed a lot of people out of some tough situations. One was a local bakery that had lost power during a blizzard a few years back. That was his first stop. Second was the florist.

It took a little convincing, but both agreed to open up their shop long enough for him to grab what he needed. Now all he had to do was knock on her door. Simple. So what was holding him back? He’d had women pissed off at him before. Never had he intentionally hurt them, but shit happens. But it seemed to mean more with her. That knowledge troubled Cole. This was supposed to be something casual, nothing more. When he started caring how things were going to affect her, he knew that wasn’t the case.

Hell, look at me standing here. It was late, and he hadn’t seen any lights on when he pulled up. What if she was asleep? He knew he was exhausted from lack of sleep. Since she had been awake with him, it only made sense that she’d gone to bed early.

Cole turned and headed down the stairs and out the front door. When he got to his Jeep, he placed the cake on the roof and was about to open the door when he heard her calling out to him.

“Is that the chocolate cake you promised me?” He turned and looked around, but there wasn’t anyone there. Jody added, “And are those daisies?”

Cole looked up and she was leaning out of the third-floor window looking down at him. He said, “Those beautiful green eyes of yours have great eyesight.”

“Funny, I didn’t hear you knock.”

He laughed. “I had my hands full,” Cole said grabbing the cake box again. “Would you mind if I came up?”

Another woman, with a gruff tone, said, “I don’t care what you do, just stop shouting. People are trying to sleep around here.”

Jody waved to him and he climbed the three flights of stairs again. This time she greeted him at the door. He practically dropped both on the floor, because she was standing there in just a T-shirt, her hard nipples pressing against the cotton and begging for his attention. It’d be so easy to pull her into his arms, carry her to the bedroom, and make love to her all night long again. But Cole didn’t want her to think he’d come there this late for sex. Of course he wasn’t opposed to it.

Trying to ignore the obvious invitation, he brushed past her and walked into the kitchen. “Do you have any coffee?”

“Isn’t it late to make coffee now?” Jody asked.

Not looking at her he asked, “Milk?”

“Cole, don’t tell me you came here after ten just for dessert,” Jody said with her arms crossed.

It was driving him crazy because now her breasts were being pushed up higher. Don’t think about it. “No. I came because I’m an ass and promised to call. But with my boss out this week, things are hectic. And besides, I owed you dessert.”

Jody looked him over seductively. “I thought we had dessert last night.”

You are not helping. “Let me clarify. I promised you chocolate cake.”

“Ah. And I promised you dinner. Does that mean I should try cooking for you tomorrow night?”

Cole smiled. “Since you owe me, then I guess I have no choice but to come back tomorrow too.”

Jody stepped closer. “Did you know it’s not healthy to eat this late at night?

He looked down at her, now only inches from him. “Even cake?”

“Especially cake. But I know it would really be good with coffee in the morning.” Jody wrapped her arms around his neck.

“I guess I’ll have to stay to find out.”

Cole pulled her into his arms and claimed her lips. He had every intention of apologizing and leaving. It was just going to take a lot longer to show her how sorry he was then he’d thought.

They had both been exhausted and sleep overtook them early. But that meant the promise of something sweet for breakfast wasn’t wasted either. She was still asleep when he snuck out of bed and made coffee. Was it so wrong to wake her with a chocolate kiss? She said she loves chocolate. Time to find out how much.

Although he had her coffee and a slice of the cake cut with a fork placed on her nightstand he had taken a bite before kissing her awake. He kissed her gently, and she stirred slightly. Then he traced her lips with his tongue and she moaned.

“You weren’t sleeping, were you?” Cole asked.

Jody stirred then shook her head. “No. But I was having this erotic dream of eating chocolate cake off you.”

Cole laughed. “Who am I to stand between you and your fantasy?” He reached over, stuck his finger in the frosting and then streaked it on his chest.

She adjusted herself to kneel on the bed and gave him a light push so he could lie on the bed. Taking four fingers he watched as she scooped up the chocolate, then racked down his ab. Jody paused briefly, gave him a wicked smile, bit her bottom lip and continued her decent. His cock was already sprung and ready, but when she swirled her fingers around the tip, he thought he’d explode.

“Do you mind if we have…breakfast in bed?” she asked.

Her hot breath only inches from his pulsing cock. “It could be messy.” He scooped her into his arms and said, “Why don’t we finish this conversation in the shower?”

She giggled and on the way by she snatched up the plate holding the rest of the cake. “I think you’re going to be in charge of breakfast from now on.”
