“I can’t stand here all the time you know,” Cole said.
“I know, but Cole, this isn’t about me. You deserve a trophy and I don’t want to be what keeps Roxy from shining today.”
Cole laughed and kissed her lightly. “Sweetheart, Roxy has her moments, but she never looks as good as when you’re sitting on top.”
“You’re just saying that because you love me.”
“No. Because I love you, the only car I want you on is ours.” Cole gave her a wink. “Now get to work sweetheart, so we can bring home the trophy.”
She loved how things were no longer his or hers. Whenever she forgot that, he so sweetly reminded her. Smiling, she said, “Then let’s show the Creeps Car Club that Roxy deserves the title, ‘Best in Show’.”
Cole said, “I don’t care what they or anyone else says, I won the moment I met you. I love you, Jody.”
“I love you too, Cole.”
“Sweetheart you drive me wild, and that’s not the pictures we want our family taking,” Cole warned. She agreed. He could make her engine purr like no one ever had before.
She finally understood what Cole had meant when he said he didn’t care about any trophy, at least not today. This day meant something special to them. It was all about celebrating their love and the unique way they met.
He stepped away from her, but his eyes never left. She wasn’t up there posing for anyone but him. And that’s the way it was going to be, always.
