That’s when I heard the knock at the door. Yeah, the droid was late, but I’m still going to tip it. Even droids have droid families they need to take care of. I’m not a monster.
“Hey, bot. Get the door!”
The bot slid in. “It is not my duty to get the door for you. You are perfectly capable of opening a door. Beep.” And then hovered back to whatever it was doing.
I grumbled and forced myself up from the comfy couch and went to the door myself.
Useless bot.
I opened the door, and my heart stopped.
There she was in all her glory.
Kat.
She was as beautiful as ever and smiling her patented smirk. “Hey, Wil. Good to see you again. Miss me?”
I couldn’t even speak.
“Erkan got your tongue?” She smirked and took my hand. “Come on, we gotta go. The Ultra has a mission for us.”
