I shook my head in amusement. “Our kids.”
“Wouldn’t trade them for anything,” Lucas joked and then slapped my ass playfully. “We’ll put them to sleep and then see about a third one,” he winked, staring at me with his baby blues.
Instantly, my insides turned into hot liquid. Even after two kids and eight years of marriage, I still couldn’t get enough of him.
Maia and Miles came running to the kitchen and I quickly composed myself.
“Maia and Miles, go sit down at the table. Dinner is almost ready so daddy and I’ll be out in a minute.”
“Okay mommy,” they both chimed and then strutted to the dining room, laughing and giggling about something that us adults had no idea of.
“So, I’ve planned something special for tomorrow,” Lucas hinted. “For our anniversary.”
“What is that?” I asked, my eyes lighting up.
“Well, let’s just say these two will be happy to get to stay at grandma’s and grandpa’s.”
Lucas’ parents had moved to New York soon after Maia had been born. Ever since then, they’d been so helpful and they loved spending time with the kids. I could tell that especially Lucas’ mom had been more than ready to be a grandmother.
After moving into this house, Lucas and I had lived together in a domestic bliss for a year before he’d completely taken me by surprise by flying us out to London to meet his parents. He’d ended up proposing to me there at the London Eye. A year later, we’d gotten married in New York, surrounded by friends and family. It had been everything I could have wished for. Even my sobered-up mother had attended, happy for us and our love.
We’d taken our honeymoon in Bora Bora, just like Lily and Xavier, and honestly it had been a dream come true. And just what had happened to Lily and Xavier, happened to us as well: I’d gotten pregnant.
Maia had been born about a year after our wedding. I’d taken a short maternity leave after which Lucas and I’d decided that he would remain on the board of his and Xavier’s company but stay at home, looking after the kids. It had only been natural, since he had already achieved everything he wanted professionally, while I’d still had a ways to go.
Ever since then, I had managed to make a name for myself in the world of architecture and do everything I’d dreamed of by creating my own success. Now, I was a partner in one of the best architecture companies in the country. But even better than that, was that I also had my tribe, my little family of four. It was something I had never paid that much time dreaming about but in the end, it ended up being the most important piece of the puzzle.
It turned out that good things could happen in life, when you just gave them a chance. And taking a chance with Lucas was one of the best decisions I had ever made.
Lucas drained the water from the pasta and I poured the Alfredo sauce into the pot, giving it a stir.
“Dinner’s ready!” I shouted and we walked to the dining room where Maia and Miles were already sitting and waiting in their own seats.
Lucas placed the pot on the table and started serving it to the kids, grinning at me. I took a seat and when he was done serving the kids, he sat down next to me. He gave my thigh a squeeze under the table, winking at me as his baby blues sparkled.
I wouldn’t have traded it for anything.

About the Author
Gabrielle Snow writes intriguing and sexy contemporary romance novels (often featuring alpha billionaires) - also her personal favorites to read.
Gabrielle loves all things romantic and steamy - she is, for the lack of a better word, a hopeless romantic with a little bit of spice added to the mix. Sometimes real life doesn't deliver enough of it, so books and films are her favorite pastime.
You could say that Gabrielle finds opposites attractive: she enjoys sunny weather but finds more inspiration for her novels during rainy days. One of her favorite ways to spend a rainy day is indoors, writing a romance novel with a glass of wine in hand (red, without a doubt).
