She disengaged her mouth from his just enough to moan.

“Lucas. Maybe we should go to the room?” she said, desire gleaming in her gorgeous eyes.

  “Another terrific idea.”

She smiled. He planted his palm on the small of her back, guided her through the lush green of the resort, until they reached their bungalow. He fussed with the keycard to grant the entrance, and she chuckled, probably sensing his urgency.

When they entered at last, he slammed her against the wall, closing the door behind her. She wrapped her arms around him, kissing him, rubbing against him. Today was their last day together, before heading back to the States.

He tried to shove that thought aside. “Crystal,” he called her, even if he didn’t quite know what else to say. Called her name as if it held the answers to all his most complicated problems and worries.

She rolled around, placing him against the wall, her hand anchored on his chest. She slid her hand down on him until she reached his pants. All of him throbbed with want. Hot tingles filled his balls, making them heavier and fuller.

Unzipping his pants, she moaned, and made quick work of pulling them down along with his underwear. His cock sprang free, slapping against his belly, willing and ready. She lowered herself until she kneeled before him, and the image alone of Crystal looking up at him squeezed precum from the tip of his dick.

  “You want to kill me.”

She shot him a mischievous glance. “Will you let me?” she asked, running her fingers across his rod from root to tip. A tremor went through him.

Who said he had a choice in the matter? He wanted to yank his gaze from her, to keep from coming instantly. But she stared at him with so much boldness, the type he hadn’t seen before, that he had no option but to continue looking at her. “You don’t need my permission, do you?”

Crystal licked his cock, her tongue swirling around his shift, up then down. He sucked in his breath, reveling in that crazy sensation taking over his body. She put most of him in her mouth, while her hand squeezed his balls.

Sweat dripped down his back. He was trying to hard not to come, but she didn’t help. She drove him in and out of her with mastery, teasing the tip of his cock, and licking the pre-cum dripping from him. When she took out his cock, saliva glistened down her lips, her eyes hazy as if she too, were lost in a world of lust. He pulled her upright, switching positions and pressing her against the wall. He loved the feel of her body so warm, soft, ready for him.

  “Who’s killing who?” she whispered.

He removed her dress, and she helped him by shimming out of her underwear then tossing it to the side. When his gaze found hers, his gut clenched. A spark of confidence lit her eyes, giving him an odd sense of pride. He slammed his lips on her, devouring her mouth, and she circled her arms around his head, bringing him closer.

He broke off the kiss just enough to gulp for air, and she did the same. Groaning, he positioned his cock in between the V of her thighs, and plunged into the wetness with the eagerness of a soldier returning home. She whimpered, her inner muscles clenching around him.

Relentlessly, he thrust and retreated half-way, only to ram her deeper each time. Her moans filled the space, along with his labored breathing. Each thrust broke another wall inside of him, making him so desperate for her. Each plunge connected their bodies in a way he’d never experienced before. When their mouths joined again, the energy pulling them together socked the air out his lungs. He had to wrestle to keep upright and not buckle his knees.

She came undone first, squirming and trembling. He held her, letting his own body go as he plunged into her one more time, his hot seed filling her, his heartbeat spiking. A part of him knew then and there, no matter what happened afterwards, he’d never forget this hot weekend with Crystal Fox. And that was too damn bad.

“Have you made up your mind about the resort?” Crystal asked, as they slid into the limo that would take them each to their place. During the flight, he had worked while she had watched a movie or two, and also glanced at some magazines. She had slipped into her former role of assistant.

The easy way with which she stepped into her old self bothered him. Practically, this was better. After all, they had agreed on no more sex in New York City to keep things professional. How could they go back to their old routine, as they were if their dynamic had changed? If he’d seen her naked, heard her moans, tasted her pussy?

  “Still thinking.”

“You can probably do it, but it’ll take time. Would you be okay with visiting the Northeast more often?” she said. His family lived in São Paulo. Even though he had investments in different areas of his home country, he preferred using his “free” time in between meetings to visit his mother and two sisters.

  “Yes.”

“I checked the story the engineer told. Seems true.”

Lucas knew the guy wouldn’t lie, especially if he wanted to work with him again in the possible demolishing and rebuilding of the resort. Most of his properties and investments were in very urban areas, which had been why the resort had caught his attention. He certainly had the money to make it all work.

  “What do you think?”

“It’s very doable,” she said in a clipped tone.

  “You wouldn’t do it.”

She ran her finger across her chin. “I’m practical. Instead of trying to make something what it’s not, I’d rather just stick with what is.”

“Even properties with damage deserve a second chance,” he said, wondering if they spoke about the resort or their own situation. From what she’d told him at the beach, her mother had done a number on her. Lucas curled his fingers into a ball, wishing he could time travel and put some sense into her mother’s head. A band laced around his heart, squeezing it. Why did he care?

Despite his father’s straying, he’d enjoyed a good childhood with two sisters who loved to bicker with him, but all in good fun.

“You believe they do because you profit from them,” she said casually.

When the car stopped at her apartment building, he was about to leave the car and open the door for her, when the driver outmaneuvered him. The guy was just doing his job. She grabbed her bag, while the driver unloaded her small piece of luggage and rolled it from the sidewalk to the narrow entrance of the building.

He’d seen her building before, several times, before or after business trips. Yet I have never walked inside her apartment. “Crystal,” he called her, gripping her wrist to keep her from getting out of the car.

She looked deep into his eyes, angling her head, and for a moment, he sensed vulnerability. The contours of her face softened, and she leaned in, like she expected him to say something that would change the outcome of their trip. Change the outcome of their return to reality.

Blood throbbed in his temples. His throat felt coarse and dry, and he had to swallow a couple of times to speak. “It was a nice trip. I—

“You don’t have to worry,” she said, squaring her shoulders and jerking away form him. “I won’t tell anyone. I promised.”

He inhaled, confused. Say something, you idiot. But, what could he say? What did he want to say?

She let out a sigh, disappointment visible in her expression even if she seemingly tried to hide it. “Good-bye,” she said dryly, then slid out of his car.

He contemplated running after her, but his brain was too busy rationalizing their weekend, their conversation. He couldn’t make any decisions, and that stillness nauseated his stomach. He usually was a quick thinker, a risk taker even. What was so different about Crystal that scared him?

A strange emptiness crept over him, and as the driver returned and drove off, Lucas tried to will it away. Surely, all he needed was to take a cold shower and catch up on some sleep. Clear his head. Tomorrow, he’d go back to work and all these unfamiliar doubts would dissipate. Tomorrow, everything would go back to normal.

  “You have a nice tan,”
Walter said when she walked through the revolving doors of the imposing lobby area. “Did you change your hair too?”

“Thanks, Walter,” Crystal said in a voice that wasn’t thankful at all. She had tried to style her hair as usual, but the lower layers kept straying from her ponytail, so she decided to leave her hair free. It tumbled to her shoulders, the waves moving as she strode into the elevator. Still, that and the light tan on her face and limbs were the only thing she allowed herself to bring from Brazil.

She wore a black pantsuit instead of the more daring ensembles he’d bought for her. She hadn’t been able to part with them quite yet, but wearing them for work would guarantee to give him the wrong message.

It would tell him she still wasn’t over him, even if that was the truth. When he took her home the previous night, she’d thought she sensed hesitation from him. She’d foolishly hoped that pause meant he’d begun to care for her enough to forget about their bargain. At this point, she no longer wanted him to take her to the high school reunion party. She was done pretending. Who cared if she didn’t have a significant other?

Well, she did. Because those days with Lucas made her long for a relationship. Companionship. Sex.

The elevator pinged, warning her she’d arrived at the top floor, and she exited.

Crystal turned on her computer, opened her drawers, and put her bag away. A creature of habit, she made two cups of coffee—one of her and one for her boss, even if she secretly wished he didn’t come to work today.

He could be out sick. No, that was mean. What if he needed her to pick up something in his penthouse? That would only make things even more awkward between the two of them. The espresso machine beeped, and she glanced at the black contents. She brought her cup to her lips, while waiting for Lucas’s.

“Crystal?” a deep, manly voice called, and she jumped.

She jerked quickly, the coffee splashing out of the mug and spraying her shirt. “Oh. Hi. Sorry.”

“You okay?” Lucas asked, gesturing at the droplets of coffee on her chest.

She stretched to her full height, hoping the neutral expression in her face hid the embarrassment filling her chest. “Yes. Of course…” she trailed off, then took a chug of the black liquid. “Want some?” she pointed her index finger at the mug she’d filled for him, but for some reason her voice came out rougher, sexier.

He inched closer, and she sucked in a long, deep breath, inhaling his woody scent in the process. His hair was still damp, and she imagined he’d showered not too long ago. Her nipples hardened like diamond tips, and heat coiled low in her belly.

Pent-up tension crackled the air. She slid her gaze down his face to his delicious lips. Memories of him closing his lips around her breasts, his tongue playing teasingly with her bud, made her moan. Moan! Get it together, Crystal.

She stepped back, moving out of the invisible danger zone. Oh what was she thinking? Anywhere close enough to him turned into hazard, whether she wanted to or not.

A flicker of challenge sparked in the depths of his brown eyes. Did he want her to own up to her desire? Or was he mocking her because falling back into work mode wasn’t as easy as either of them had imagined?

“If you excuse me, I need to freshen up,” she said, and without looking back or waiting for his reaction, she marched away from him and into the women’s restroom.

Remember what happened last time he followed you into a public restroom? Her clit throbbed, a clear message if she wasn’t willing to admit to it, her body had no problem refreshing her mind.

No matter how she sliced it, today was about to be a long fucking day.

  Chapter 8

“Where’s the daily report?” Lucas asked from his office.

For some reason, he’d kept his door wide open the whole damn morning. Like he wanted to keep tabs on her at every step of the way. Why? Did he fear she’d get on the phone and tell a coworker about her sex filled trip? Crystal shook her head.

Crystal pressed on the sleek intercom button, choosing to do so instead of just popping in his office. “It’s on the top of your pile, to the left,” she said, with the intelligibility of a GPS voiceover.

She heard the violent ruffle of papers on his desk, and smiled to herself. Of course he could access to the electronic version as well, but the damn proved to be a contraction—he supported recycling and donated to environmentalist causes, yet loved printing things that weren’t really necessary. Like the daily reports. Then, he’d shred the document in his state of the art machine, and recycle the small strips.

Well, whatever. It was his money and his conscience.

“I don’t see it,” he said, again, from his office instead of the intercom.

She stood at once, sucking in a deep breath. She strode into his office with a plastered smile on her face. The same one she’d give the Starbucks employee whenever he messed up her order or misspelled her name.

Lucas rocked back in his chair, and she felt his eyes on her with every little movement. Her stomach squeezed, knots tightening her whole mid-section. Avoiding a direct stare would be best. She walked over his desk, ignoring the mess and the pieces of paper on the floor, and reached across to the left side. A shiver of awareness rolled down her spine the moment her hand accidentally brushed his, and she cleared her throat.

That’s when she knew… that this whole idea had sucked from the start. She motioned to move, but he closed his hand on hers, his fingers clutching her flesh and offering her the type of warmth and safety she shouldn’t have missed. But she did. Oh, how she did…

He pulled her to him, and soon she was on his lap, gasping, excited. Damn. The door was open, even though no one would come to that floor that time of the day without clearance from the reception. Either way, executives from lower floors had access to the concierge room with all the goodies in this level. What if one of them showed up and saw him, door wide open?

“Coat closet,” he said gruffly, and before she responded, he lifted her and carried her to the in-built closet he’d got done six months prior. Because a lot of times he went to dinner meetings immediately after work, he added a top-notch walk-in closet where he could change and had a wide selection of suits, ties and shoes.

She moaned, for a moment not caring about anything else but the sultry need to have him naked against her. His kisses grew hungrier, greedier, wetter. She traced a path with her nails from the back of his neck up his scalp, scratching him, which propped him to intensified the kiss even more, his tongue ruthless.

When he closed the door of the confined area behind them, she sighed. With labored breaths and tangling limbs, they began to undress each other. She wished to have him bare for her, but she knew that would take time. So, she settled for ripping open the buttons of his shirt, then undoing his buckle. When she reached into his pants and palmed his delicious cock, he groaned into her ear.

The sound had the magical effect of turning her on even more. “Lucas,” she said in a plea.

“I feel it too, baby. We need to fuck.”

Fuck. The blunt word caused her walls to slicken, her nipples to tighten painfully. He pulled down her pants and underwear, and she clumsily kicked them to the side.

He thrust three fingers inside her pussy, and she moaned. Her flesh clutched him, her body recognizing his. “God, you’re wet. I’ve been thinking about eating you all morning.”

He lowered himself, and she threw her head back, not caring one single bit about creasing the fabrics behind her. Without delay, he buried his head between her legs and French kissed her sex.

She bucked her hips into his mouth, eager to give all of herself to him. To Lucas Grande. Her pain-in-the-ass boss. The man she was falling in love with—madly and undeniably.

He tickled her clit, then focused on lapping at her folds, his fingers working in and out of her. She had to bite her lip to keep from shouting from the depths of her lungs. Ripples of pleasure washed over her until they merged into one huge wave, from head to toe. Her body
shook, and even as her flesh trembled in his mouth he kept going, swallowing ever lasting drop of her creamy essence.

When he disengaged from her pussy, a cold draft whispered into her. The immediate withdrawal. He stood, and pulled her to him. She felt her tangy scent in his lips, and wrapped her arms around him. She’d always enjoyed his muscled, large physique. He made her feel safe and protected. Cherished.

“Crystal, you aren’t going anywhere,” he said, his voice low and husky.

She shifted on the shelf, and exterior light from the window cast over his face. “Are you talking about my job?”

He shook his head. “Screw your job. I mean, you’re the best assistant I’ve ever had and it’ll suck if you really want to leave. But I meant as a woman. I can’t let you leave.”

Her heart skipped a beat or two. Who was counting? Sweat slicked her forehead. She wanted to be happy, but old wounds warned her to be careful instead. “Why not?”

He ran a finger down her nose, his touch causing an ocean of sensations through her. “Because I’ve fallen for you,” he said, resting his forehead against hers. “Hard.” He added.

Her heart beat again, much faster than before, her pulse racing. Screw being careful. “Really?”

He got upright again. Specks of golden flickered in his gorgeous caramel eyes. “Yes. I’ve never felt this way before. I need you by my side.”

“Even if I don’t dress like your exes?” she said, needing to ask. Sure, she had learned a bunch in the past few days and understood she could look good without compromising her principles. But she was still no Victoria’s Secret supermodel or high-powered CEO. If he wanted to be with her, he had to accept she wasn’t a fashionista.

  He chuckled. “Are you serious?”

She didn’t move, unsure if he laughed at her or with her.
