Love's Interruption Page 8

by Flynn Eire

“I’m not sure I’ve ever had someone tell me that when they weren’t more excited to get with Jordan Gilliam instead of just wanting me,” he admitted, sounding not so much hurt but like he didn’t know what to do with that.

I wasn’t sure how to respond, but all I knew was I needed him. I brushed my lips over his gently, simply a brief kiss before I sang what he wanted. I washed my hair too, having trouble remembering the words when he soaped up my cock and started stroking it. Ducking under the water to rinse, he worked on my back as I quickly soaped up my face, neck, and upper body.

“I love we’re going to have our own stuff now, but I will totally miss getting the concert anytime you shower,” Cornelius called over as he came into the bathroom. “Not sure I’ve heard you sing John Legend, but damn, you’ve got an awesome voice, my friend.”

“It was a special request just for me,” Jordan told him easily.

“Sorry, didn’t know you were entertaining,” Cornelius muttered. “Serenade away.”

I smiled down at an amused Jordan, singing away even as Cornelius used the bathroom and we finished our shower. “Any more requests?” I asked as I leaned down so our lips were almost touching.

“Yes, for you to fuck me because I’m so damn turned on I can’t even stand it. Maybe to ride you sometime while you sing for me.”

“That’s hot. Kinky, but hot,” I growled, kissing him as his hands fisted my hair and pulled me closer. I did one better and lifted him up, wrapping his body around mine as my every nerve came alive from kissing him. His tongue slid over my lip and into my mouth, and I thought I was going to melt. Just from a kiss. Just from feeling his tongue touch mine.

Holy fuck. How could someone living so long feel like he was a newbie to everything again or like he’d not understood anything until right then?

I turned off the water and wrapped a towel around him somewhat before grabbing our stuff and walking us back to my room, not giving a shit I was doing it naked or dripping all over the place. I’d left the door unlocked, which helped because there was no way I was bothering with keys or trying to unlock a door at the moment.

“I got myself ready in the shower,” he told me when I kicked the door closed.

“Good,” I growled, tossing him on the bed before locking up and turning off the lights. I went over to him and remembered the lube in the nightstand before joining him on the bed. I slicked up my cock and used my fingers with the lube to check he was stretched enough, smiling when he moaned and spread his legs for me. I gave him what we’d agreed to, leaning over and swallowing his leaking dick.

“Oh shit, yeah, suck me good,” he moaned deeply as he ran his fingers through my hair. “Just like that.”

I nodded I heard him and kept swallowing, getting he liked that. He really liked it because he didn’t last long, shooting down my throat as he groaned my name so deeply I felt his body vibrate with it.

I pulled off of him and stared into his gorgeous eyes as he gasped for air. “What have you done to me?”

  “Excuse me?”

“Even your damn spunk tastes good to me,” I muttered, totally thrown by that, as I wasn’t a fan of giving blow jobs and normally gave them only so I would get them. I shook my head and moved so my dick poked his hole. “I’m not young. I shouldn’t be feeling things that I never have before at my age.”

He snorted as I glanced up at him. “You’re not the only one, and I’m much, much older. That was maybe the best quickie I’ve ever had and certainly for the first time with someone.”

“Me too,” I confessed. I pushed in him, rocking my hips to get him to take more of me, stopping when I was mostly in so his body could adjust. “I like you too. I hate when people poke at me, but you do and I want to poke back and play, but not be mean.”

“Oh dear, well, no more bullying you then if you’re going to be all cute and sweet,” he teased me. “You came off as a different type, and I like to bully that type.”

My eyes went wide as I realized what he was telling me. “You remembered my name. You were teaching me a lesson to have the shoe on the other foot or whatever.”

  “Yes.”

“Brat,” I grumbled, pulling out and slamming in him harder than normal to start. He moaned and arched his back as he wrapped his legs around me. “I’m not disrespectful or mean. Sure, I have a list of drunk hookups with humans before there were blood bags, and there’s no chance I remember any of their names, but they knew the score. I’ve never been serious with someone but not because I’m a player.”

“Good to know, but I want the sex you promised.”

“Say please after you were bullying me,” I countered.

He smirked at me, mirth dancing in his sexy eyes. “Please fuck me, Jeston. Please, please, please plow me and make me scream. Make me—”

I mashed my mouth to his and slammed into him over and over again. “You dirty talk and I’ll come too soon. I fucking go wild for dirty talk.”

“Good to remember,” he gasped in between thrusts.

I had a feeling he would remember for real this time, feeling more confident now that I knew he’d been bullying me and not that I didn’t matter like I’d thought. I punished his body for being mean to me, both of us loving it. He came twice before I finished deep inside of him. I licked the sweat off his neck before nibbling his ear. “I got you dirty again. I’ll have to take responsibility for that.”

“Yes you do,” he mumbled, sounding exhausted.

“I think I might keep you too.”

  “Is that so?”

“Yes,” I muttered, clearing my throat. “I don’t care that you’re Jordan Gilliam and could have anyone or anything he wants. You made me feel things I didn’t know I could feel. You have to take responsibility for that.”

“Yes, I do,” he agreed, angling his neck and finding my lips. “A quick nightcap and a few things to discuss, yes?”

“Right, yeah,” I sighed, gently pulling out of him. I wanted him to tell me what he’d promised, but I didn’t want to confess my side. Plus, that wasn’t the best pillow talk while I’d been inside of him. Then again, he seemed exhausted, so I wouldn’t harp on that.

He took the wash cloth I was going to clean him up with and actually slid under the covers. I brought out the bottle of good whiskey I kept in my closet and poured the glass I had, shrugging when he gave me a look.

“We have a lounge for when we want to have a drink, but we’ve got post-trans there at the moment I think. This is just for when I need a timeout.”

“Fair enough.” He accepted the full glass from me and took a sip before passing it back as I sat down so we could look at each other instead of getting in with him. “So you lost a sibling during their transition? Is that why you don’t want to be around the pre-trans?”

I took a long drink before handing it back. “I lost all six of my siblings. I was the only warrior born of my family, the first, and then the only one who survived. I was also the youngest. I was five when my eldest brother didn’t make it. It’s my first real memory. They all died, and I survived. My parents didn’t know to send me to a camp or who to contact, as they lived on their own like several other vampire farmers.

“They all died but me.” I let out a shaky breath as I took back the glass. “Someone had heard a warrior had transitioned and sent for others, and the entire month until they came for me my parents couldn’t even look at me. People talked like I ate the souls of my siblings to survive or be born a warrior. I was glad to leave, the small minds around there not something I could deal with.”

“And your parents?” he asked gently after a few moments of silence.

“They died a few years after I officially became a warrior and passed training. They refused to live within the protection of a coven and died because of it. They knew nothing more and never wanted to know more. So I do deal with change no matter how scary because I won’t ever be them.”

“Wow, we really are yin and yang,” he whispered, shaking
his head. He took the glass from me and pulled his knees to his chest as he had a sip. “I’m born of a Wyrok. One came to our small coven in Belgium and bedded my mother, but like all Wyrok, he didn’t stick around, the legends true that they were always on the move. And then she had a normal vampire son. The coven was not kind about that.

“I was a scandal not for being a bastard but for failing the Wyrok and warriors alike for not being born one of them.” He quickly wiped away a stray tear as he took another sip. “Sorry, it has been so long since I’ve told anyone.” He cleared his throat and let out a slow breath. “I thought she died of heartache and disappointment. She always told me she was proud, but that’s what the coven leader told me when she got sick.”

“We don’t really get sick,” I muttered, reaching over for the bottle and refilling the glass when he drained it, taking a swig from the bottle before closing it up and setting it down. “What am I missing?”

“The coven leader was poisoning her,” he chuckled darkly. “We didn’t know we couldn’t get sick back then. There was always some new illness or scary whatever the humans would get, and why could we be completely impervious when there were new illnesses? It made sense. But he was making her sick. He’s the reason she died.”

“How did you find that out?”

“Every year we lost someone in the coven. Most of it seemed completely normal. Someone was married off to another coven for an alliance, or now and again some ran away or sometimes they got sick like my mother. I was thirty when I found out the truth and it was all the coven leader.”

“Oh fuck,” I whispered, getting something really bad had happened.

He bobbed his head. “Our small coven was never attacked. A miracle, right? Nope, every year he handed one of us over to the zakasacs. That was the price to not be attacked. He handed over one of us a year that had transitioned. I was told he wanted to see me because someone wanted me to mate into their family given who my father was, and it was the best thing for the coven to repair the damage I’d done to the coven by not being born a warrior.

“I went, knowing I would never go through with it and would run on the journey, hating all of them after my mother died. Hating them for letting her die. Instead, I get knocked over the head and wake in the back of a cart driven by two zakasacs. Needless to say, I’m panicked, but then one of them mentions my mother and how they were excited to get me because she’d tasted so damn good.

“Apparently they had tried to turn her, but she never would no matter how many times they raped her. They tried to use her to trap my father, but no one knew how to contact him. In the end she pissed them off enough that they drank her down. I wasn’t scared after that, filled completely with rage. We stopped to water the horses, and the moment I was anywhere near glass, I used my gift and decapitated them.”

“And then what?” I asked as I slid into bed next to him, moving my arm around him. “Did you get help?”

“I did,” he whispered, taking another sip. I did too, and gave him back the glass. “I unhooked the horse and rode as fast as I could for the warrior camp that’s in what’s now Brussels. They wouldn’t listen to me at first. They said the whole story was insane, and they dismissed me as some scared kid. I blew a gasket and my gift reacted, cutting several of them badly with glass when I protected myself.

“They were just going to send me back. Completely ignore everything, and then they said they were going to kill me when I hurt them. I told them who my father was, and suddenly they cared. Suddenly I had their attention. That was all that mattered. I was his son, and someone there could tell if people were lying, and I wasn’t. They would get to meet him, have reason to call upon him.”

“So he’s a big deal, huh?”

He snorted, rubbing his hand over his head. “You might be old enough and depending where you came from, but have you ever heard of Bricius?” He chuckled darkly when I flinched. “So you have. Yup, that’s my father.”

“I thought he was a myth. Is he really a Neanderthal?”

“No, though the last known Neanderthal was about maybe five thousand years ago supposedly, but that’s not my area of knowledge. Some of the others here are older than that. Homo sapiens are anywhere from three hundred thousand years ago to fifty thousand years ago. I think that’s the latest numbers, but they do change with more discoveries.”

“I know the last thing you want is for me to start asking questions about him, but I think my brain just short circuited,” I admitted. “My grandparents spoke of him as something between Jesus to save us all and Lucifer who would punish us and him being part zakasac. I’m—the top of my head just popped off knowing he’s real.”

“He’s not a zakasac,” he told me firmly. “But do not ever expect his morality to be anything close to modern day. But yeah, comparing him to Lucifer isn’t that far off. He definitely won’t ever serve anyone, but he never wanted to rule in hell either.”

“So they called him that day?” I pushed when he went quiet.

“Yeah, and it took a while, but he came. He was thrilled I wasn’t a warrior when he saw me, somehow knowing I was really his. He was relieved I didn’t have to go through what you guys do, what I would as Wyrok one day because of course that would be expected of his child. Here it’s brought shame to my mother and coven, and he was relieved. I’d spent my life wondering what he’d be like, and that was how it went.

“I threw glass at him, and honestly if he’d been anyone else, it would have killed him, but I don’t think he can actually die he’s so fucking old and strong. He just laughed, thrilled I had balls of stone. I got pissed and told him what had happened, and he lost his mirth. He lost it real fast, and when he found out someone had used one of his lovers, the mother of his child, in that way, he made sure no one would do it again.”

  “What did he do?”

“He wiped out all the zakasacs in Belgium and made an example of the coven leader and any who knew.”

  “Example how?”

“The answer would only give you nightmares, but let’s just say it was an effective message,” he whispered before finishing the drink. “And I thanked him after because the punishment was probably worse than what was done to my mother and everything that asshole deserved for giving over his own people to the monsters.”

“Yeah, there’s no level of hell bad enough for people like that,” I agreed as I hugged him to me. Well damn, that was not the way I’d seen the night going. Nor the secrets.

Wow, that was a lot for one person to carry. No wonder he kept to himself.

  I would have too.

  6

The next week I worked my ass off. We all did. The weather was shit, but knowing we were building places to house people to keep them safe was motivating. Liam worked with Nate, and between the two of them along with Jeston’s help controlling snow, they were able to keep the sites clear as the construction guys got huge concrete pieces into place.

I got a chance to work with Falcon, who was engaged to Gaius, because he could manipulate metal. He helped get a lot of the braces and connectors into place. When the weather was too much and a storm hitting, everyone moved inside to continue working. It was how Nero’s house was completely finished from floors to walls to fixtures.

With everything we’d brought and worked on, we were also able to put the finishing touches on Alastair’s house. Most everyone was shocked when truck after truck came in with mattresses and beds to build later that I’d ordered. Hey, people would be more than willing to sleep on the ground and move into permanent whatever later, but we needed more places for them. My people would not mind being stuffed into a huge house for a while.

Not even remotely if it got them free of the Boston coven leader.

So there were a lot of reasons to keep focused and working. Overnight crews did the insides, as there were only so many of the huge machines to get pieces into place. But I worked in shifts to do what I could with the kilns I had, taking a break when the annealing kiln was ful
l.

And normally went off for sex. Jeston was keenly in tune to when I was done and would practically carry me off to his room for hot sex and sleep. He was working like crazy with his gift and others taking guard shifts so he could, and he was just as exhausted as I was.

Not that I could tell from the sex. No, that was top tier, and we were having a lot of it. I couldn’t get over how I didn’t want to be away from him, not ever having kept someone like that or around them so often. I wasn’t reacting badly to sharing his bed either. I could not figure it out in the slightest, but with so much shit already going on, I decided not to sign myself up for more problems and freak over it.

I was old enough to be that mature after all, right?

Firm lips woke me, and I realized we’d landed in Boston. We had enough in place to start moving people, but there was the meeting I’d scheduled with the East Coast Council first. Jeston came with along with Philo who would be flying back and forth along with his mate Norris to help. Another pilot, Tadzio, would be tagging in as well since I’d been clear there was no way I was driving my people out to Wyoming from Boston.

Yeah, that sounded incredibly stupid and just asking to be attacked.

I’d also asked Falcon and Ellison to join us. They needed to stand before the East Coast Council after the shit and show they were fine, not hide. Also, they’d been traumatized by not being able to save people, not doing what a warrior should in their minds, but this time we were going to get everyone out. They could help save people this time.

I would make sure of it.

I kissed Jeston back as the plane taxied, cupping his cheek. “You got me wound up. You better take responsibility later.”

“That’s not a hardship,” he chuckled against my lips. “So I hate to bring this up, but do you have a plan for this meeting? You’ve been rather cagey about it.”
