Christian moved closer to her, giving her something to grab onto as she writhed on the bed. Tamara held his hand as she rode the orgasm out, breathing heavily as she reached for her fiancée’s hand. Both men watched as she came down from the natural high, grinning widely.
Christian looked at his best friend, “Now that was something to watch. Shall we do it again?”
Declan watched his mate as her eyes widened, “Soon. I don’t think she can handle much more right this moment.”
Christian gave his friend a look of doubt, “I bet you that she can.”
Declan reached over the woman lying on the bed and shook his friend’s hand, “I’ll take that bet.”
He gave his friend a nod and then covered his mate’s body with his own, waiting to enter her dripping pussy until Christian had returned to the head of the bed. Both men pushed into Tamara’s body at the same time, quickly finding a rhythm and holding onto it. Declan felt his balls tighten for the third time and he moved faster, gaining more friction and causing his mate’s pussy to clutch at his cock as it pushed in and out of her, in his need to reach release. He looked over to Christian and saw that his partner was moving just as fast, his eyes squeezed closed. Both men came at the same time, as Tamara came for a second time, crying out with their release.
Chapter 8
The men woke up as the sun was rising over the mountains and detangled themselves from Tamara. Declan pulled a pen and a notepad out of the nightstand drawer and wrote a small note to his mate letting her know where they had gone.
As they were heading down the stairs, Christian asked, “What did you tell her we were doing, man?”
Declan stopped by the fireplace and grabbed his shoes, taking a seat on the couch, “That we were going for a morning run but would be back in time to have breakfast with her. She’s going to want to plan out our trip to Wisconsin and figure out how to get more information from the camp Rangers about that half-man creature that was sighted.”
Christian nodded his head in thought, “Very true. She seems like a take charge kind of gal.”
Declan laughed as he stood and stretched, “You have no idea, buddy. Shall we?”
The men slipped out the front door as quietly as possible, Declan grabbing up the key as they left.
“Which way did our visitor state his cabin was last night?” Declan asked as they made their way to the woods.
Christian shrugged, “I don’t think he did. But I got a good whiff of him last night so we should be able to track him by scent and see if his story checks out.”
Christian lifted his head and sniffed the air, pointing to the east, “It’s this way.”
As they made their way in the direction of the cabin they were seeking, Declan changed into his animal form, “I’ll climb the trees and see if I can find the cabin then lead you in the right direction.”
Christian looked at his best friend in irritation, “What are you saying, man? That my tracking skills aren’t good enough?”
Declan turned from the tree he was climbing, “Not at all, amigo. I just thought this would be a faster way to find what we are looking for so that we can get back to the cabin. Preferably before Tamara wakes up. I like to cook breakfast in the mornings for her so that she doesn’t feel like she is the only one in the relationship that cooks, ya know?”
Christian laughed, “Man, you are so whipped. But I can’t say I blame you. I wouldn’t mind being whipped by a girl like her.”
Declan laughed with his best friend, “I’m not whipped, buddy. Just very much in love. Now can we get this show on the road and find out what our late-night visitor is up too? If we are going to the Coalition about all this any way, we might as well gather as much information as we can.”
Christian nodded in agreement and moved further into the trees as silently as a cat. A few miles in he heard Declan shout.
Christian raced in the direction the shout came from, “Are you okay, man?”
Declan stood and shook himself, “Yeah I’m golden. I was trying to get your attention without attracting any unwanted attention. The cabin is just up ahead.”
Christian lifted his head and looked in the direction the Were-Fossa had pointed in with his nose, “Ah that’s great. Shift back and let’s see what this guy is up to.”
The magic swirled around Declan as he returned to his human form, “The only problem with shifting anytime I want is the fact that I left my clothes back where I changed. Looks I’ll be finishing this recon with my dick hanging out.”
Christian laughed, “Well at least it’s not in your hand.”
Declan shot his friend a dirty look, “Let’s get on with this, shall we?”
Christian held his hands up, “Okay, okay. Sorry, man. You just kinda opened up that door and I couldn’t resist walking in.”
Declan sighed, “Yeah I knew you were going to say that the minute I opened my mouth, and the words came out.”
Christian laughed again, “Let’s go check this guy out, buddy.”
The men stalked their way the last few feet to the cabin that had come into sight. The lack of smoke coming from the chimney or vehicle in the driveway lead the Weres to believe that nobody was home, so they crept ever closer to the wooden structure.
The steps creaked as they climbed them to the front porch, and Christian lifted his head sniffing the air once again, “I don’t think anybody is here. Should we peek through the window?”
Declan lost all pretense of stealth as he rushed to the living room window and peeked in. The living room was empty, and sheets covered the furniture. There was a thin layer of dust upon the fireplace mantel and covering the pictures that hung on the wall.
Declan turned from the window to look at his friend, “No one is staying in this cabin, amigo. Nor has anyone been in this cabin for at least six months.”
Christian made his way to his friend’s side and looked into the window himself, “So it appears. Now I really want to know what this guy is up to. With this new discovery we have no choice but to include the Coalition.”
Declan had moved around the side of the cabin to look into a few of the other windows, checking to see if there were any rooms that had been used and saw much of the same situation as the living room was in.
The Were-Fossa gave his best friend an assessing look, “I think it would be a good idea to let the Coalition know what happened last night and what we have discovered here this morning. There is something going on and I don’t think it involves just me and my fiancée. We’re going to need more help with investigating this, pal.”
The Were-Lynx nodded his agreement and took another look around, “Well there isn’t much more we can do here, so what do you say we return to your cabin and have some breakfast? Maybe Tamara is awake and cooking.”
Christian gave his best friend a wink as they walked off the front porch together, “I know you said that you like to cook breakfast for her on the weekends you guys are out here, but you have to admit she is a much better cook than you are, buddy.”
Declan laughed as he slapped his friend on the back, “I would never think to disagree with you on that, buddy. Let’s just get back before she begins to worry. Because if you think she was heated last night when we ran out of the cabin to catch our Peeping Tom and left her behind, you can bet your ass that if we don’t return to the cabin soon, she is going to be livid with us. She’s going to know what we are really doing out here even though the note said we were going for a jog. Tamara is just that bright.”
Christian smiled at his friend, “I think it’s just that she knows you so well. But yes, let’s get back so that I don’t have to get another ass ripping from her because I made you investigate into our visitor further.”
The men walked to through the woods, keeping their eyes and ears alert for anything out of the ordinary until they reached Declan’s pile of clothing.
Christian sniffed the air again as his friend was getting dressed, “His scent is strongest here. Do you think he i
s still hanging around, hoping to get another glimpse of us?”
Declan pulled his shirt over his head and sniffed the air with his friend, “He might be. But I don’t hear any noise, nor do I see anything out of sorts.”
He stopped short and his eyes narrowed as the scent moved, “We need to get back to the cabin right now. I think I know where our late-night visitor is right at this moment.”
Christian turned his attention to his friend, shock on his face, “He wouldn’t! Come back to the scene of the crime just to get caught once more? Is he really that brave?”
Declan shrugged his shoulders as he took off in the direction of his cabin, “There’s only one way to find out. I just hope Tamara didn’t let him in.”
The men raced through the last leg of woods until the cabin came into view. They slowed as they saw the front door standing open.
“The door was locked! I know because I locked it when we left,” Declan exclaimed as he jogged to the front porch.
Christian reached his friend and placed a hand on his shoulder, “Tamara is still inside, buddy. You need to remain calm until you know the full story. Let’s go inside and assess the situation before we completely lose our shit on this guy.”
Declan muttered under his breath as they climbed their stairs to the front door, “He’s awful ballsy coming back the next day. What the Hells is this guy’s end game?”
They heard Tamara’s laugh as they stepped through the doorway and turned their attention to the kitchen table. The Greek man was sitting where Christian had been sitting the night before with Tamara sitting next to him and they were talking in hushed tones.
Tamara jumped up as they entered, “Christian! Declan! I was beginning to worry about you. That was a helluva jog you took this morning.”
She gave her fiancée a knowing look as she crossed the room to embrace him and whisper in his ear, “I know you weren’t out jogging. Next time just tell me the truth.”
Tamara pulled away from Declan and turned to their overnight guest, the look on her face saying that he was going to get an earful once their company had departed for the day, “How did you sleep last night, Christian?”
She stepped back and gave him a kiss on his cheek as he said, “What’s he doing here?”
Tamara smacked him on the lower arm, “There is no need to be rude, Christian. He only stopped by to apologize for last night.”
Declan clapped his hand on his best friend’s shoulder, turning his attention from the woman standing before them, “It’s all good, amigo. Let’s see what he has to say. Then we can eat breakfast and I’m gonna take a shower before we talk about the research you have.”
Christian nodded and made his way into the kitchen, taking the seat that Tamara had emptied, “So, buddy, you came to apologize. That’s good.”
Tamara walked back into the kitchen and piled some scrambled eggs and bacon onto two plates, setting them down before the men, “I know it’s nothing fancy, but I had thought we were going to be strategizing this morning, so I just whipped this up.”
Declan picked up his fork with a smile, “This is perfect, my love. And as far as I know we are still strategizing; it’s just not going to be over breakfast.”
He turned his attention to their unexpected guest as he took a bite of his breakfast, assessing him with one long look. Something felt off about the man sitting across the table from him but he couldn’t really put his finger on it and it was bugging him. Declan was happy to know that he wasn’t the only one who felt that way, but it wouldn’t be easy to convince his mate without some kind of proof.
Christian took a healthy bite of eggs as he continued to stare at the Greek man before him. He tried to relax, if only for Tamara’s sake, but he knew he wasn’t going to be able to really let his guard down until he knew the guy’s deal.
The man in question rose from his seat, “I believe I should be going now. Thank you so much for talking with me, Tamara.”
Tamara walked him to the door, “Of course, Conrad. It was the least I can do after everything that happened last night. And thank you for stopping by to apologize yet again.”
The men at the table shared an uncertain glance as the two by the front door spoke in Greek, not sure what was being said.
Tamara cleared her throat as she shut the door, “So y’all went for an early morning jog, did you? Tell me, what did you discover on this jog of yours?”
She used air quotes around the word jog in her second question, leaving no question how upset she was.
Declan scooted his chair back and beckoned her to join them at the table, “We had to check into him, dear heart. There is something off about that guy and I know you believe he is completely harmless, but you have to trust my, and Christian’s, instincts. After all, we are supernaturals.”
Tamara sat on Declan’s lap and wrapped her arms around his neck, sighing as she leaned in for a kiss, “I want to believe you, I really do. But I can’t see anything wrong with him. He seems like a sweet guy, even if his English is stilted and he prefers to speak in his own language.”
Declan wrapped his arms around her protectively and Christian sucked in a breath, ready to argue with her when she held up her right hand, “I’m not saying that I won’t use caution nor am I saying that you should stop investigating him. What I am saying is that until you have proof, he means us harm I will not stop treating him like a human being.”
Declan and Christian shared a look that she didn’t understand, “That’s just it, Tamara. We’re not entirely sure he is human. But until we know more, we won’t bug you about it. Just do us a favor and don’t have him over without one of us with you please?”
Tamara looked at Christian in disbelief, “How many times do I have to tell you that I’m a big girl and can take care of myself? Huh? What do I have to do to proof it to you?”
Christian stood, holding his hands out as he sent a pleading look to his best friend, “That’s not at all what I am saying, Tamara. I’m just asking you to be careful. Besides, he knows what Declan is. What’s to say that he’s not planning something nefarious? Or completely evil? I’m sure he can tell how much you mean to Declan. If he plans on hurting your mate in any way, the first step is to take you. Can you at least concede that you see that?”
Tamara stood, taking Christian’s hand, and leading him back to the table he had paced away from in his frustration, “I won’t let him into the cabin when I am here alone. Does that make you feel better? Because even if he is trying to get close to me just to hurt Declan, I’m not going to make it so easy on him. After last night I would think you knew at least this about me.”
Christian squeezed her hand and gave her a small smile, “Oh I am well aware of how much of a fight you would put up, beautiful, that’s not what I’m worried about. If he turns out to be a Were, shifter, or Hells even a witch, it won’t matter how much of a fight you can put up. He will still overpower you.”
Tamara shuddered as she took a seat between the two men, “Okay I see your point. I hadn’t even thought of that so thank you for pointing it out to me. I’m sorry to make things so hard for you.”
Declan grabbed her hand and brought it to his lips, “But you wouldn’t be you if you didn’t dig your heels in at every turn, dear heart. It is one of the many things that I love about you.”
Christian laughed, “Well I can see that. Weres do like their mates to keep them on their toes.”
He gave Tamara a wink as she giggled.
He reached for her other hand and gave it a sloppy kiss, “So shall we begin our strategizing on this research of mine?”
Tamara nodded as she began to clear away the dishes from the table and refilled her coffee cup, “Sure let’s get a plan in place so that we can begin to find out more about Declan’s condition.”
Chapter 9
“So, what you’re telling me is that there is a Coalition that polices all things supernatural?” Tamara asked in disbelief as they sat in the living room working on a game pl
an for their trip to Wisconsin.
Declan nodded his head solemnly, “That was pretty much my reaction when Christian told me.”
Christian stood and began pacing in front of the couple sitting on the couch, “Yep. He totally didn’t believe me until I took him to a meeting and introduced him to everyone. We get new members almost every month, which is why they have been so hard on the Weres and shapeshifers, even the witches, in this area of the world. There seems to have been a flux in the amount of furry members we’ve been getting in the last few years, whether it was due to curses laid out by witches or The Bitten turning others we still aren’t sure. It had gotten so bad that after I took Declan to his first meeting and introduced him to the board, not to mention the type of furry creature he turns into; we ended up having a member of the Organization return with us to hang out in town. They felt a presence would curb any cursing or biting that might be going on. It seems to be working so far because we haven’t had any new members popping up in the last six months or so.”
Tamara looked from Christian to Declan and back again in doubt, “An organization that polices their own, who would have thunk it.”
Declan reached over and grabbed her hand, “I can see the gears spinning, my love. Whatcha thinking about?”
Tamara tilted her head to the side in thought, “Well first of all, I was wondering if that member from the Coalition board was still in town and if so is that who you will be talking to about Conrad?”
Declan looked over at his best friend who had stopped pacing long enough to gape at the woman on the couch, “That’s actually a good question, buddy. Is Sylvia still in town or did she fly back to the UK? I know she doesn’t live in the states but had come out for their six-month summit only to get stuck with hanging out in the states to supervise the likes of us.”
