A shout out to some fellow authors for your friendship and support, especially Becky Albertalli (thank you for that quote!), Matt Cain, Perdita Cargill, Juno Dawson, Beth Garrod, Sara Grant, Alice Oseman, Lev Rosen, Chloe Seager and Julian Winters.

To all the bloggers who have been so kind and spend so much time reviewing, promoting and generally shouting about books – the biggest thank you.

Thanks to all you readers who are so passionate and so supportive – it means a lot. I’ve been fortunate to meet a lot of school students at events in the last year and it warms my heart when you bound up to me after a talk and introduce yourselves as “The Gay Kids” or variations thereof. Keep being you. And know that whenever some people want to silence you, shame you, or pretend you don’t exist, we’ve got your backs, we’re here for you, and those people aren’t ever going to win.

Mum, Jonathan, Liz, Alfie – now I’ve finished writing this one, I can come and visit! Sue and Peter Counsell – thank you again, for everything.

Whilst I was writing Alex in Wonderland my dog, Bella, passed away. Bella was a beautiful soul – loving, brave, kind – the best dog, such a good girl. I miss her terribly, but before she died I promised her I’d dedicate this book to her, so everyone would know what a special dog she was and she wouldn’t ever be forgotten. So here it is, Bella. We love you so much, and always will.
