“C’mon, Sammie. We can’t be late, eh.”

Sammie smiled at the voice carrying through her apartment. Dominic hadn’t been home in two months. Lery was eagerly awaiting their return.

“I’ll be right there,” she called back. “Going to lock it and turn in the keys.”

“I’ll be in the car,” Dominic said. “It is ridiculously cold. I won’t miss that.”

“It’s not even below freezing!” Sammie giggled.

“I t’ink anyone who willingly lives in this weather is crazy,” Dominic muttered as he walked down the hall.

Sammie only shook her head. Downstairs, no one was in, so she dropped her keys in the mailbox and headed outside. The refund of her security deposit would be mailed to St. Lucia.

When she went outside, Dominic wasn’t in the car. Instead, he was standing next to it with his head tilted all the way back, grinning like a child. Snowflakes drifted down, landing on his face and making white dots in his hair.

Dominic caught her watching him and laughed. “Scooter said it was going to snow, but it never did until now.”

“That’s Kansas for you,” Sammie said, sauntering over to him.

Dominic held out his hand to catch a snowflake. “For you.” He offered it to her.

Sammie dipped her head and kissed the snowflake off his palm.

His wrapped his arms around her and gazed into her eyes. “You’re so beautiful with snowflakes in your hair. Maybe we should stay.”

Sammie stood on her tiptoes and brought her mouth to his. “We’ll be back before winter is over. Maybe it’ll snow on our wedding day.”

“I hope so.” Dominic pressed a kiss to her lips. “No matter what, I hope February comes soon so I can start to call you Samantha Dupre.”

Sammie stared at him. She didn’t mind him calling her Samantha. He’d made the name beautiful again. “I can’t wait.”

  “I love you, Sammie.”

  “I love you too, Dominic.”
