by O M Faure
Somewhere nearby but out of sight, a baby’s crying his heart out, his screams mixing with the deportees’ pleas in an unbearable concert. Poor kid. What have we done to his world?
And how on earth has the responsibility to save us all from this future fallen on my shoulders? I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m not qualified, I’m on my own and the Programme wants me dead.
Jesus Mary Joseph, how am I going to get out of this mess? Let alone save the planet? The plane lifts off the ground, as gravity tries to pull me back down, and for the first time, as I struggle to lift my head up and fail, I realise that I’m trapped by forces too big for me to control and that I might not make it back to 2016 alive.

Acknowledgments
This book exists thanks to so many people who have supported me, lifted me up and taught me along the way.
I owe so much to my godfather Alastair Pugh, who was an endless source of encouragements and hugs. I miss him already.
I particularly want to thank Lisa Handley, Marc Laurenson, Tony King and Nina Vox for guiding me onto my path.
I would not be who I am today without my mother’s inspiring example and her unshakable faith in me.
I learned about Scenario planning a long long time ago in a country far far away and I’ll always be indebted to Charles Thomas for showing me the future(s).
I’m so grateful to my fantastic manager, Jessica Magnusson for supporting me and giving me the time I needed to write.
And finally I want to thank Brittany Ganguly, Joan Diamond, Paul Ehrlich and the MAHB for their endorsement and encouragement.
