“Yes. We’ll escape together and start a new pack,” he said, and the words sliced through my chest. Another fucking prison. I’d judged the weakness in my chains wrong.
I shook my head. “He’ll catch us, and he’ll kill you.”
“I have everything we need, fake identities, passports, plane tickets, money, clothes… a gun loaded with silver ammo. I just need you to be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. I’m getting you out of the country, Omega. I have family that will protect us in Belgium, and then we can make our way up to Russia.”
My heart swelled with hope and despair at his words. Oliver was one of my jailors, and he was offering to help me escape. He planned to hand me my freedom on a silver platter. Escaping one man while we were on the run would be so much easier than escaping ten werewolves while we were in their packhouse. Oliver got me fake papers so I could make it through the border. He had a gun. All I would need to do is take it all and run, and then Kane would be following two trails, Oliver’s and mine. Kane would kill Oliver if I did that. But, could I afford to hesitate just because I had sympathy for the devil?
“I’m scared,” I whispered, and I knew it rang true. I was so fundamentally terrified of the choice laid out before me.
“I will protect you,” Oliver said, and I could see the passion in his eyes. “Tell me you’ll be ready.”
Oliver’s dominance pressed down on me, and with it came Oliver’s longing and lust. His order forced my head into nodding up and down, and passion lit in his eyes. All of the sympathy I had for the man vanished, and the plan cemented in my mind.
“Yes, Oliver. I’ll be ready.”
“Teagan?” The low voice woke me from my memories, and I stepped away from the frozen water as shivers racked through my body.
Declan rushed into the bathroom and grabbed a towel off the pile, wrapping me up and hugging me to his chest.
“What’s going on? We all just got called home with the news some werewolf got to you.” He rubbed my back under the towel. “Was it Kane?”
“No. Kane wants to capture me—that werewolf out there wants to kill me.” A chill ran down my spine. “I was feeling feverish a moment ago, and now I’m freezing. I should get out of these wet clothes. Is the werewolf gone?”
“He ran off before we arrived.”
I nodded and headed toward the door when I turned back to Declan. Fuck, I felt like such a coward, but I didn’t want to be alone.
Somehow, I didn’t have to ask, and Declan wrapped an arm around my shoulders and headed into Jasper’s bedroom with me. The big guy helped me peel off my wet jeans as I pulled off my soaked shirt and bra.
I reached for my bag when I realized that I had a choice between clothes I wore during a night in the forest and discarded during sex, clothes soaked in gasoline that were still strewn all over the driveway, my soaked outfit, or a sexy little negligee. I’d have gone for the lingerie except for the fact that it was something that Oliver bought for me to wear for him, and after today, just the thought of that made me feel sick to my stomach.
“Do you maybe have something I could borrow while I wash my clothes, Declan?” I asked.
When he turned for the door, a rush of fear pulsed through me. Damn it. I didn’t want to get close to those windows, but I also didn’t want to be alone right now.
“Never mind, Declan. Will you stay? I’ll wrap up in a towel or something.”
“I won’t go anywhere. How about this...” Declan nodded and unbuttoned down his red and white flannel, shouldering it off. “It isn’t too dirty if you don’t mind it smelling like me.”
“I love the way you smell,” I admitted. The flannel fit like a dress, falling almost to my knees, and I had to roll the sleeves several times to get to my hands.
When I was finished, Declan handed me a fresh towel. “I hung up your wet clothes in the shower, and this here is for your hair, if you want it. What can I do to help you? Anything else?”
I sniffed. “I need to do so many things, like wash all my clothes and pack my bag and panic, but honestly all I want to do is spoon on the bed and disappear from the world for a few precious moments.”
“That is something I can happily do for you.” Declan reached out and lifted me off my feet, setting me down on the bed and falling behind me. He was so big that it felt as if he was enveloping me completely. I curled in even closer, burrowing against him, wanting him to practically crush me under him.
“Can you breathe in there?” Declan asked into my hair.
“Yes.” I rolled over and burrowed deeper, so my face was just under his neck and his front pressed down on mine. “You feel so big and safe.” I reached under his arm and ran my fingers over his massive back. “Like a giant, sexy as hell security blanket.”
“I will be your designated security blanket whenever you need one, but, just so you know, the flannel is riding up, and your ass is bare to the world.” He tugged at the material, which I’d managed to get caught up over my waist, but there was no pulling the shirt down.
I was too snug where I was to crawl out from under Declan.
“It’s fine. At this point, pretty much every werewolf in this house has seen me naked, let alone just seeing my ass.”
“Ah. Chad and Ace might have been telling Jasper about a gasoline accident that ended up with everyone in the shower when I walked by.” Declan hummed and then pulled the comforter over us. His hand came to rest on my bare hip, and his calloused thumb tickled against my hipbone, sending tingles spreading through my whole body. “They were explaining why they ended up caught with their dicks in their hands, literally, while a werewolf was attempting to abduct you.”
“What?” I leaned back to look at Declan’s face. “What are you talking about?”
“Yeah, they were rubbing one out, well, at least Chad was. I think Ace was just taking a cold shower. He told Jasper that you were all washing the gasoline off each other when Chad said something that changed the mood and gave both the men raging hard-ons. You left and they were trying to tame their beasts when they heard you screaming. I’m thinking we’re not going to see Chad in human form for a good long time.”
“Oh, I’m not the biggest Chad fan, at least while he’s a human, but this is not his fault,” I said through a completely inappropriate chuckle. Laughter bubbled up in me, and I pressed my mouth into Declan’s bare chest to muffle it.
“Are you licking me, Cherry?” He asked as he craned his neck to look down at me. “Because, you don’t need my permission, just go on right ahead. I’ll even take my pants off if you want.”
“Oh, how generous.” I grinned up at him, and just because his lips were so close, I pressed mine to his. He opened his mouth, and sucked on my lip, sending a pulse of desire straight to my core. I licked into his mouth and tasted peppermint. When I broke off our kiss, Declan pressed his forehead to mine.
“Damn,” he said. “Your mouth tastes like cherries too. I think I might need to taste you everywhere, just to be thorough.”
Lust shot through me, pooling in my center, and when his hand slipped over my hip and rubbed my inner thigh, I parted my legs in invitation.
“Oh, Cherry,” he growled low, “Are you going to let me taste your sweet sundae?”
“No… don’t call it my sweet sundae, Declan. That’s just too much.” A nervous laugh burst from me, and I moaned. “Fuck…” I bit my lip, “I feel like I’m being so bad.”
“What, because of this?” His hand slipped down to the junction between my thighs, and he glided his fingers up and down my slit, just barely touching me. His soft caress made me feel hypersensitive and aware of every place he pressed down on me. Tingling pleasure pulsed through my core.
“This isn’t being bad at all,” he said, and then one of his thick fingers sunk into my heat. “And, this here is only a little bad.”
I gasped onto his tattooed neck and said through a moan, “Naughty is a better word.”
“Naughty, I like that. Well, this here is twic
e as naughty as that…” He pushed a second finger in and curled them inside me.
“Declan,” I moaned, as I reached up to run my hand over his buzzed hair.
“Now this here, this will be naughty.” His palm pressed down on my clit, and he massaged deeply, kneading me until I writhed under him. I tried to bring my hips up, but Declan’s weight pressed me down. His fingers pumped up and down while his palm rocked into me, sending intense pleasure surging up.
“Someone is coming,” Declan said in a low voice as his fingers picked up speed.
A second later, I heard footsteps clomping toward the door, and Declan called out, “We’re a little busy, Alpha. I have two fingers deep in Teagan’s pussy, so if this can wait.”
I was too far gone to do anything but gasp as my pleasure built.
Declan leaned over me and kissed me as I moaned. “I can feel that you’re moments from coming, Teagan, but I probably should warn you that Jasper might just walk in unless you tell him not to. He won’t listen to me. Do you want me to stop so you can tell him?”
“Please, don’t stop…” I gasped. The last thing I wanted in the world was for Declan to stop. I was so close to the edge.
Jasper threw open the door and stormed in.
I called over, “Jasper—I...”
Jasper’s expression was thunderous, and shock hit me hard and fast. Was he mad that Declan and I were hooking up on his bed? I knew we should stop, but it was far too late as a wave of pleasure crashed over me, and the world fell away as my core quivered in orgasm. I gasped and moaned as Declan’s hand continued to pump into me.
When the world came into focus, Jasper was sitting down beside me on the bed, running his hands over his hair.
My whole body felt liquid as aftershocks of pleasure surged through me. Declan pulled his fingers out and cupped his hand around my mound, possessively.
“Are you mad, Jasper?” I asked as I tried to catch my breath. “I don’t know the rules.”
“You don’t have any rules, Teagan. I’m furious with myself. I fucked up,” he growled as he rubbed his hands through his dark hair. “Somehow, Grayhaven allowed this werewolf to walk right in. I picked up what might have been a trail early this morning, but he’s careful to cover his tracks, and the magic was masking his scent.” Jasper gripped his hands together and gritted out. “This one is on me, and if you’ll trust me to protect you, nothing like today will ever happen again.”
I wiggled my arm out from around Declan, and I ran my fingers over Jasper’s back. “It’s not your fault… or Chad or Ace’s fault, either.”
“No one is buying that it’s not Chad’s fault, the man was diddling himself when he was supposed to be watching your back,” Declan muttered into my shoulder. “But you couldn’t have waited, I don’t know, twenty minutes to talk to us about it, Jasper?”
Jasper looked between us with his gaze narrowing. “Are you saying that I shouldn’t have come in?”
The alpha asked it like he wasn’t sure of the rules himself, but in a bigger way. It was as if he thought that it was perfectly natural to walk in while Declan was bringing me to orgasm, and Jasper was surprised to learn that wasn’t typical behavior. Jasper tilted his head and his piercing blue eyes met mine. “Privacy is sometimes a hard concept for me to understand, Teagan, if I’m invading yours, you’re going to have to tell me.”
I melted back into the bed. “The only reason it bothered me is that I thought you were mad at us.”
“I’m furious and terrified, and that’s why I didn’t want to wait any longer to see you, but neither feeling is directed at you. There’s a werewolf in my territory that almost abducted you while the wolves I assigned to protect you were disobeying my orders.” Jasper ran his hand over his hair once more.
“That werewolf is named Oliver Hunt, and he’s on the run for his life too, and that’s because of me. I did that to him—and I don’t feel guilty for the choices I made, but I know that he wants to kill me, and he feels justified in it.”
Jasper kicked off his boots and laid back on the bed beside me, pillowing his head on his hands. “You want to tell me what’s going on?”
No. I didn’t. Having Declan lying on me like a three-hundred-pound weighted blanket was doing a lot to relieve my stress, and reliving that day was something I had never wanted to do again. But, if they were going to protect me from Oliver, they deserved the truth, every last piece of it.
Chapter Fifteen
Thinking back to the day I escaped from my old pack all felt like a bad dream now. Leaving my captivity with Kane had been like jumping out of the proverbial frying pan into the fire. The entire day might have felt like a nightmare, but I could recall it in perfect detail.
“Oliver is the one who arranged my last escape from Kane, but he didn’t do it for free.” Just thinking about it made my hair stand on end.
“You don’t have to tell me,” Jasper said, and he reached out and grabbed the comforter that had slipped down from around Declan and me.
“No, I should tell you guys. Thank you for squishing me Declan, but I should probably move.” I tapped Declan’s arm.
“I will lie on you anytime you want, Cherry.” The big guy rolled enough so I could tug Declan’s flannel down to cover my lady bits, but I still felt vulnerable. Even though it made me feel a little pitiful, I rolled on my side and burrowed back into Declan who immediately wrapped a massive hand around my hip.
“Oliver Hunt was the third-ranked dominant wolf in my old pack,” I said. “I knew he wanted me for himself. Dominating me was becoming an obsession for him, and instead of discouraging it, I thought maybe I could use his infatuation to escape.”
“Smart,” Declan said.
“No.” I swallowed hard. “It wasn’t smart, but it worked to get me away from Kane. Kane trusted Oliver, so he let us just drive off together. Oliver got us everything we needed to escape, the right documents, supplies, he even purchased a gun that had a spell on it to pass through airport security undetected.”
“All the supplies you have now?” Jasper asked when I paused.
I nodded. “I was intending to follow Oliver’s plan to leave for Belgium. We would fly there and then I’d slip off at the first opportunity, but almost as soon as Oliver and I arrived at the international terminal, I knew that staying with Oliver for any amount of time would be a terrible mistake. I’d always known that his longing to dominate and possess me had everything to do with his pride. He lusted for me like a poor man might yearn for a mansion or a yacht.”
“Sounds fucking dangerous.” Jasper’s blue eyes met mine. “How did you get away?”
I shuddered, remembering that day.
Jasper rolled over onto his side, propping his head on a hand. He webbed his fingers through mine, and I pulled our joined hands to my chest. “You don’t have to answer.”
“No, it’s okay. Nothing happened, not really. He just wanted to have sex the moment we got into the airport. He ordered me to go with him into a family restroom, but I managed to talk him out of it, insisting that we couldn’t risk it, which made him angry. He kept ordering me to do the simplest things like pick up my bag and sit in the chair he wanted me in. I told him that I had to pee, and he ordered me to hold it. Every time he ordered me, I felt his emotions, and they’d changed. His longing wasn’t this yearning dream, it was like a victory and intense possessiveness. Oliver was both angry and entitled like I owed him everything.”
I gasped, feeling like I’d run a marathon rather than told half of a story. “Oliver’s anger flipped off like a switch, and then suddenly, he got overly-affectionate and kept kissing me on my shoulder and my neck and nibbling at my fingers—until it hurt. When I told him to stop, he ordered me to be quiet and kiss him. While he was distracted, I slipped his gun out of his bag with my feet.”
“That sick fuck!” Declan growled. “Thank all that’s holy that you got away. Did you pull the gun?”
“I didn’t have the chance. They called our flight, a
nd people flooded the aisles. I had to stash the gun quickly. There was a human flight attendant, a woman. She kept looking at us. I think she sensed that something was very wrong. And… she was just a human…”
My breath caught, “I was scared. As she took my ticket, she met my eyes, and I nodded. Somehow, that flight attendant knew what that meant, and security came on the plane and said that there was an issue with my passport, and I needed to deplane. I thought that Oliver assumed it was Kane recapturing me, and Oliver stayed on the plane to save his own ass. I guess he must have followed me.”
“Do you think Oliver Hunt tracked you here?” Jasper asked.
I shook my head. “Oliver seemed shocked to see me—like he didn’t believe his eyes. It took him almost a minute to react. It’s probably the only reason I got away. I think he came by Grayhaven the same way I did.”
“What do you want us to do?” Jasper asked with his eyes drilling into mine. “Do you want us to get you safely over the border, or do you want to stay here? Do you want us to kill him?”
Blood clouded my vision. A man’s screams echoed in my ears. “No…” I shook my head. “No murder, please. If it’s self-defense, it’s one thing. But hunting a man down and killing him is something I can’t live with.”
“We could run that fucker out of town,” Declan suggested.
“Oliver Hunt is more dangerous out there where Kane can find him than he is here with us.” Jasper rubbed his hand over the back of his neck. “Are you thinking of leaving, Teagan?”
I licked my lips. Running was always my first instinct, but if I ran, I would likely have two werewolves hunting me. Kane was plotting to capture me, but from Oliver’s rage, he would likely be bent on an act of bloody revenge.
I met Jasper’s blue eyes. “I’d like to hear what you think.”
