Seducing His Brother's Best Friend
Page 4
“Hello, Jase.”
“Hello, Mr. Bitterman.” Jase gave his neighbor a smile and looked down at the small dog taking care of business in the grass. “How was your evening?”
“Oh, fine. Me and the wife just got back from dinner at that romantic restaurant—uh, what was it called?” He rubbed his whiskered chin and then waved it off. “The food was great.”
“I’m glad you had a great time.”
“You had a fight with your boyfriend?” he asked.
“No.” He shook his head. “Allergies.”
The older man gave him a skeptical look. “You know, some of us men have a way of doing the dumbest things, my wife tells me. So, maybe he’ll call and apologize before the night’s over.”
Jase gave him a fond smile. Bitterman and his wife had known him since he’d moved in and neither of them had ever discriminated against him for being gay. “I doubt it,” he said. “Thanks. Goodnight, and say hello to Mrs. Bitterman for me.”
Jase’s steps slowed as the hair on the back of his neck rose. He glanced out to the sidewalk and the short expanse of neatly manicured green space. There were a few flowering trees that provided shade on sunny days. Out on the street, traffic flowed sluggishly.
He turned for a look behind him, and all he saw was his neighbor. He brushed the uneasy feeling aside as he stepped onto his porch, longing for something more private like Ennis’s porch. He loved sitting there, and wondered if Jarrett was as closed-minded and hard-hearted as he seemed.
They had been relatively close as long as he could remember, and he hated to think his brother would deliberately hurt him simply because he preferred men.
Jase heard Bitterman’s dog barking and stepped off his porch to find the older man tugging his dog along and urging him to quiet down. He still didn’t see anything suspicious, so he went to unlock his door. As he did so, Jase heard Mrs. Bitterman speak to her husband. He stepped inside and leaned against his door, tired, sad, and angry.
Tears stung the back of his eyes just as a light rap sounded on his door. He drew in a slow steadying breath before saying, “Yes?” His heart beat faster as hope swelled in his belly. Ennis had agreed to bring his car.
“Jase, open up,” Jarrett called.
He drew his lips into a tight line, but found himself obeying in spite of dashed hopes. “What?”
Jarrett held up his car keys. “Stay away from him unless me or one of the other guys is around,” he ordered.
“You know, Jarrett, I went to him. He didn’t invite me or even come on to me,” he said and took his keys. “I threw myself at him because I wanted him. The fact that Ennis let you tell him to back off instead of listening to what I said tonight says you don’t have to worry about him putting another finger anywhere near my ass.” He closed the door and fresh tears burned down his cheeks.
Chapter Seven
Jase woke before his alarm clock went off the next morning. He lay there staring up at the white textured ceiling, wishing he was waking up in Ennis’s bed as he’d planned to be. He rolled onto his side hugging his arms around him. In part that was Jarrett’s fault. Mostly it was his fault for not being strong enough to fight for what he wanted. He’d hoped last night would be the start of the rest of his romantic life, but it obviously was just a night that had gone terribly wrong.
Jase shut down the thoughts that made his heart heavy and climbed out of bed. He got ready for work, opting to skip even coffee since he didn’t have much of an appetite and stepped out into the warm morning with the sun bursting brightly over the horizon to smirk down on him and his sour mood.

Ennis pulled into the parking lot of Jase’s studio only moments after he saw him go inside. He climbed out and grabbed the bags from the passenger seat and went quickly to the door.
Echoes of sadness drifted to him, and he clenched his teeth in anger at himself and Jarrett for being the cause of the hurt his mate was experiencing.
Ennis rapped on the glass door, certain there would be no going back if Jase let him in. They would both have to see where their feelings took them.
He watched as Jase came to a stop halfway to the door. He held his breath and then Jase marched forward. Anger snapped in Jase’s eyes as he unlocked the door and pulled it open. His demon fed off that fire. It stemmed from a sensual part of Jase that was calling to him. And the demon inside of him met Jase’s gaze, answering the call.
“What do you want?” Jase asked softly as he looked away.
“I want to come in obviously, Jase,” he said, amusement wrapping around his words. Tell me no. Don’t let the demon into your life, a part of Ennis pleaded.
The willingness to let Jase go if Jase couldn’t handle what he was wouldn’t last.
The demon’s moral compass was skewed in many ways, and it would break after a few days of loneliness when he knew his mate was alive and merely rejecting him. He would destroy them both in his pursuit to get Jase back.
Don’t let us in, Ennis pleaded silently.
Jase stepped back and shoved his hands into his pockets. “Look, you don’t have to tell me to stay away,” he said and there was something so quintessentially wounded in his tone it stabbed Ennis in the heart. “I got the picture last night when you didn’t even bring me my keys.”
“Hey, sweet sexy boy, look at me.”
He lifted his gaze to meet Ennis’s.
“I brought you breakfast,” Ennis said, holding up a white bag. “I thought we could talk.” Talk? That was demon speak for foreplay.
Jase studied him with wary eyes and Ennis wondered if he could sense the presence of the demon watching him. “Show me to your office,” Ennis commanded.
Jase led the way down the hallway to his office which was at the back of the studio. “What did you bring for breakfast?”
“I stopped at that bakery you like and picked up the croissants and Danish you love.” He followed Jase to the futon across from his desk and set the bags on the coffee table.
“I’m going to wash up,” Jase said. He disappeared into the bathroom, and Ennis sat down in the semidarkened room and removed his shades and placed them on the table.
Jase returned and went to the window. “Sorry about it being so dark in here. I just got here.”
“Leave it, sweetness,” Ennis urged. The sun was hard on his eyes.
Jase gave him a curious look, but left the shade down. He sat down next to him on the futon.
“You have pretty eyes, Jase,” he murmured.
“Oh,” he croaked out and tore his eyes away and fished breakfast from the bag. “Why are you doing this?” he said after taking a bite of a cherry Danish. “I got the point last night. You didn’t have to bring me breakfast to tell me you really aren’t interested in me.”
“I brought you breakfast because I wanted to see you, Jase,” Ennis told him. He needed to see him. Last night’s kiss had been the start of an addiction he didn’t want to fight.
“I don’t just want to be one of your men of the hour,” Jase said softly. “I need more than that from you.”
“Jase, there are things about me that I’m trying to protect you from.”
“Like what?” he demanded. “I know your job can be dangerous sometimes.”
“True, but that’s not what I’m talking about.” Ennis gave him a tight smile as he reached out and caressed Jase’s jaw. “We can’t get involved, Jase. It might—”
“It might what?” He held a croissant to Ennis’s lips. “It might be good?” he teased. So, he was going to make one more play. The only person getting his feelings crushed would be him.
Ennis smiled and took a bite. “Based on how sweet you were last night—yeah. It might.”
“But I’m a risk you don’t want to take,” he said as Ennis finished off the bread.
“Oh, make no mistake, I’m going to take the risk, Jase, but I’m giving you a chance to rethink this.”
“I’m not confused about what I want. If I was, I wouldn’t have come ov
er to your place last night.” He put a hand on Ennis’s thigh. “I wouldn’t have come onto you at Milligan’s the night before, and I certainly wouldn’t have given you a lap dance.”
Ennis wound his hand around Jase’s thick braid and tugged his head back. “Good because I want you too.” He saw the surprise in Jase’s eyes as Jase leaned forward. Ennis tugged his hair to keep him in place. “I didn’t say move, sweetness.” He claimed Jase’s lips on a soft moan.
* * * *
The taste of cinnamon burst onto his tongue, tore through him, setting his taste buds aflame. Jase fought to keep his hands on the couch cushions, reveling in the seductive, spicy-sweet taste. It was like a drug making him want more.
Jase strained closer. He needed to be closer. He needed that taste. Desire was rising inside him, becoming a heated pool of need, and Ennis tore his mouth from his.
“No,” Jase said weakly.
Ennis’s lips played over his jaw up to his ear. “I hunger for you, Jase.” He kissed his ear and tilted his head back to trail kisses along his throat. Ennis’s teeth scraped over his sensitive skin and Jase gasped softly as the pool of heat that was his desire spread to his veins, making sweat pop on his brow.
“Ennis, I need to touch you, to feel you. Please, say I can touch.”
Ennis sat back, pulling Jase onto his lap. “Now, we’re touching.”
He looked down at Ennis. His eyes were dark, copper, seductive pools of heat that drew him in. He shivered and stroked his hand over Ennis’s jaw.
Ennis griped his hips, and Jase stroked his hands over Ennis’s shoulders. The feel of strong muscle was intoxicating through his T-shirt. He couldn’t wait to get him naked.
“Last night you told Jarrett he’d ruined a perfectly good lap dance, did you mean it?” He held his breath.
Ennis gave him a slow smile. “I meant every word.”
Jase moved and his erection brushed against Ennis’s, sending shards of pleasure shooting through him. Ennis’s hands glided to Jase’s ass. His fingers played down the seam of his pants before squeezing his cheeks and thrusting up against him.
Jase shuddered from the thrill that ran through him. “I wanted to seduce you last night,” he admitted.
“I know what you wanted, and it was working just fine.” He brushed Jase’s hair over one shoulder.
“Is that why you’re here?” Jase asked. “You want to pick up where we left off?” Sex. Men wanted sex and they often told whatever lie necessary to get it. So, what was Ennis going to say?
“I came over to see how you were,” he answered. “I hated leaving things the way they were last night. The only reason I didn’t push is because I’d have had to kick your brother’s ass, and I didn’t want to do that in front of you.”
“How gentlemanly,” he said dryly and climbed off Ennis’s lap. “I know you just want to screw me, and I’m okay with that, but you’re not getting it here.” His shoulders sagged as he turned his back to Ennis.
He heard Ennis sigh roughly from behind him. “Jase, listen to me, okay? I won’t just take you out a few times and fuck you. It’ll be more than that because I am very attracted to you. I won’t want to let you go.”
“I’m tired of being alone and being in relationships that don’t last more than a few months,” Jase answered. “So don’t mess with my head. Don’t say anything you don’t mean.”
Ennis wrapped an arm around Jase’s waist and pulled him back against him. At the same time, Ennis bit the side of his neck lightly and Jase gasped as a rush of hunger went through him, fluttered in his stomach.
“Tonight there will be no interruptions. Just me making love with you.” He dragged the zipper of Jase’s pants down before unsnapping them and pushing his hand inside. He brushed his fingers over his smooth, soft groin. “I like that you wax.” Ennis closed his fingers around Jase’s erection. His thumb stroked the tip of his cock.
“Umm-hmm.” Jase dragged in a ragged breath.
Ennis smoothed the jet of pre-cum over Jase’s shaft and gave it a light tug. “I’m going to mark you so every man knows you belong to me.”
Chapter Eight
Ennis felt the change as the demon surged forward. The soft sweet scent of Jase’s arousal was potent, a come-hither whisper to man and demon.
Ennis bit him a little harder, unable to fight the needs tearing through him. The need to feed was so strong it overpowered him and he sank his short canines into the dermal skin layer. Jase’s energy immediately began flowing into him. So sensual and vibrant, Jase was a bevy of energetic delight that had his cock leaking.
Ennis swiped his longer blue tongue over Jase’s neck, the skin rich in numbing saliva. He sank his teeth deeper into him, drawing blood now. He wasn’t a blood-feeding incubus, but the rich coppery taste was life-energy.
The soul-kiss was a psychic connection, a doorway into Jase’s mind. He could read and share his thoughts with Jase. The soul-kiss would also allow him to know where Jase was at any given moment of the day.
“Mmm, yes!” Jase reached back to stroke the back of Ennis’s head, sending ripples of pleasure through him.
Jase’s orgasmic sounds only fueled his passion and Ennis ground his engorged cock against Jase’s ass. He wasn’t going to make it. He had to have him now. Draw back, he ordered himself.
Now.
One more draw. He had to have it.
Fuck!
Ennis raised his head. His skin was burning literally with the fire of passion as he fumbled with his leather belt. “Jase. I need you now.” Their first time shouldn’t be like this, but the demon was in no mood to wait. He wanted to claim what he considered his right now.
“Yes.” His voice was drugged and Ennis knew it was his venom. It had Jase aroused and ready for him.
He shouldn’t—but he had to. He drew his hand from Jase’s pants and used both his hands to get his belt loose and his jeans open. Jase rubbed against him and his passion flared higher like a fire with gas poured on it. He pushed Jase against the windowsill as he tugged the younger man’s pants down, revealing his bare golden ass.
The incubus was a raging sex fiend eager to play. He dropped a hand on Jase’s firm ass and Jase groaned. He sucked in the sensual energy and delivered another heavy tap.
“Oooh!” Jase cried.
He tapped Jase’s ass again, harder this time, and felt the sharp bite of bliss in his soon-to-be lover’s mind and gave the other cheek a stinging slap.
“Ennis, we shouldn’t do this here.”
He couldn’t stop, wouldn’t stop, unless Jase out-and-out said no. Then, he’d have to rein the demon in with force.
“Say the word,” he ordered tightly even as he delivered another stinging blow to Jase’s prettily blushing cheeks.
“Feels too good to stop,” he said on a groan. “Besides, you said you’d spank me last night.”
He hit him again. “I guess I owe you.” He squeezed one cheek before delivering another tap and then another.
* * * *
He was going to go insane.
He was in a haze of bliss floating out of his mind. “Yes, God, yes!” He scraped at the wood of the windowsill as the next blow wrapped around his cock like a lover’s caress. His butt burned, his cock throbbed and ached. Even the tightness of his anus pulsed shamelessly for penetration.
He heard a slight rush before receiving another thwack, thwack and then the blunt head of Ennis’s cock penetrated the tight ring of muscle. He drew in a sharp breath as the thickness slowly glided into him, filling him, stretching him.
“Fuck!” He hissed. The man was bigger than he’d thought. Damn, could he even take it all?
Ennis kissed the side of Jase’s neck. “Relax, sweet Jase, or I’ll pull out. I don’t want to hurt you unnecessarily.”
Jase drew in another breath and Ennis caressed his stomach. “Don’t stop.”
“You’re too tight,” Ennis muttered.
“It’s been a while,” he admitted and laughed. “Almos
t six months.”
“That computer guy?”
“He was an asshole, even you said so,” Jase said and then groaned as Ennis claimed the last few inches of his tight channel. His muscles tightened, contracted on the thick girth. He was too full.
“You deserved better.” Ennis moved in him, slow at first as he gripped Jase’s hip with one hand and encircled his waist with the other to hold him close. Jase moved with him, savoring the feel of deep thrusts that were like a heated brand.
“I think I’m getting it.” He felt like heaven as the heated shaft glided in and out of him, stretching him, sending ripples of pleasure over each nerve ending it kissed. “Oh, God.”
Ennis’s shaft felt strange, as if he had a textured cock ring on it that caressed every nerve ending in his ass. It brought beads of sweat to his brow as he pushed his hips back to meet the delicious thrusts into him.
Ennis changed the angle of his thrust, moving his hips in a way that had Jase panting as hard hands held his hips in place for each thrust.
“Ennis!” His head fell back onto Ennis’s shoulder. His body was alive, held hostage by the sensual assault.
Ennis kissed his neck and took him faster, hips moving like a jackhammer.
Jase’s cries rose as the delectation took him over. He gripped his cock and pumped it as Ennis bit him and hit his sweet spot hard and right, sending him over the edge. Jase fought hard to contain his scream but it was wrenched from him as his orgasm took him over.
He was still shuddering when Ennis shot his own load into him, making his body spasm again.
Ennis was holding him when he finally came down, his legs like jelly. Damn that was the best orgasm he’d ever had.
“I knew it would be this good,” he murmured, his voice heavy. “I’m never letting another man touch me now.” He laughed. “I just want to be naked next time.”
“You will be.” He kissed the side of Jase’s neck.
Jase turned in his arms and looked up at him. He stole a kiss. “Will you come over to my place for dinner tonight?”
