“Nothing, my love.” Des approached his soulmate and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. “Just catching up.
“Nice to see you, Paige.”
“You too, Lord Des,” she returned with a respectful nod.
The immortal grinned. “Just Des. I insist.”
Paige nodded with a smile and stepped towards Gregory. She laced her fingers in his.
Darcie noticed the move and grinned widely. “I totally didn’t believe Gregory when he said you were together, but you guys seem so happy!” She was practically gushing.
“We are happy,” Paige and Gregory said at the same time. They looked at one another and laughed. Des and Darcie joined in.
“Let’s plan to have dinner,” Paige offered. Then, she turned to Gregory, “Unless we are having dinner with your parents.”
“Oh, I don’t think Mrs. Fang is going to relinquish you tonight,” Darcie said knowingly. “She’s done nothing but talk about how excited she is for your visit.”
“How about tomorrow?” Gregory threw out. He was all about making Paige happy, and he knew she would want to spend time with her friend.
Paige smiled and bobbed her head. “Sure.”
“Sounds good to us,” Des replied. He moved his arm to grasp Darcie’s hand. “Let’s go check on Alexander. We can see if he has dinner plans.”
Darcie waved goodbye, and the couples went their separate ways.
Shouldering Paige’s bag on one arm, Gregory wrapped the other around her back to rest on her waist. She wound both of hers around his hips and snuggled against him as they walked towards his childhood home.
He kissed the top of her head. “Nervous?”
“A little,” she admitted.
“Don’t be. They are going to love you, just like I do.” Gregory expressed the endearment less than two weeks ago.
He and Paige were at dinner on the lake to celebrate her twentieth birthday. The stars shined bright that night, illuminating Paige’s eyes, and the candlelit table highlighted the auburn strands in her long, wavy hair. The moment was perfect, and everything about Paige took his breath away.
Without thinking twice, Gregory confessed the depths of his regard. He loved Paige. He loved everything about her: her beauty, her strength, her intelligence, and humor.
Paige Green had come into his life as unexpected as anyone could be, and she’d turned his entire world upside down.
And he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Paige stopped walking and leaned back to look into Gregory’s eyes. “I love you, too, Gregory. More than you could possibly know.
His soul sang, and his heart soared.
Lowering his neck, Gregory caught Paige’s lips with his own. Dropping her bag to the ground, he wound his fingers through her hair and kissed her deeply. He unleashed his longing and affection. Paige raised onto her toes and moved against him with equal passion. She tightened her slender fingers against his waist, pulling him closer to deepen the kiss.
Minutes later, she slowed down her ministrations and broke the kiss.
Gregory growled low in his throat when she tried to step back.
“Your parents are expecting us,” she reminded him, laughing when he tried to draw her back in.
“They can wait.”
Shaking her head, Paige leaned forward to kiss his cheek before using her strength to step out of his arms. “We have plenty of time to make out later. Let’s focus on showing me off to your parents.”
Gregory feigned a disappointed sigh and picked up her bag. He held out his hand and she swiftly stepped to his side to take it.
“Think they’ll like me?”
“Without question.” He resisted telling her that his mother was already planning their future wedding. Claire Fang claimed it was inevitable, given the fact they were mates. Gregory didn’t disagree with her, but he hoped his mother had enough sense not to scare away his girlfriend by revealing her forward-thinking plans.
“Good, because you’re stuck with me. You’re mine, and I don’t intend to give you up.”
Happiness, like only Paige could create, filled his entire body. No words were ever so true.
“And you’re mine,” he told her, finally voicing the claim he’d long kept inside.
“Always?” she asked, repeating their normal exchange with an adorable, coy smile.
Gregory looked deep into her eyes and vowed with his entire heart, “Yes, Paige. For always.”
