He moved closer, placing his forehead against hers. “Yes, with me.”
When she spoke, her words were soft, and filled with emotion. "I'd love to."
He smiled and pulled her into him.
Tess would not be ignored, "What about the job? Will you come to work for me?" She asked. Shane's answer was a muffled reply; lost in Ryan's embrace.
"She said yes." He laughed, translating. "She said yes."
A week later Shane and Ryan stood outside the vineyard house saying goodbye. Ryan had a transition plan, so did she. Amanda didn't even seem to mind the romantic relationship that had blossomed between Shane and Ryan. All cards were on the table. Ali and Tess were leaving the valley, for now, as they headed to Aspen. Ryan would join them in a few days, leaving Shane to get comfortable as the mistress of the house. Something she was looking forward to. Tess had given her all levels of authority to handle things as she saw fit. She couldn't wait to get started.
She hugged Tess and breathed in her scent, holding on to the moment. “Text me when you land.”
Tess kissed her cheek. “I will. Let me know if you need anything.”
"I will," Shane said. Excited for the next phase in her life but not wanting her friend to go.
Tess felt it. "Don't worry. I'll talk to you soon. Enjoy your time here, it's wonderful."
Shane smiled. "I know." She said, glancing across the lawn at Sergio and Max working. Inside Marie was cooking up something scrumptious for lunch. She was starving, and after lunch, she was thinking of something decadent for dessert, something to share with Ryan in the playroom.
