Avery turned to Janx. The big man's eyes gleamed, and just the hint of a smile played at the corner of his mouth.
"One last adventure, eh, Doc?" he said.
Avery blinked, then realized that he was starting to return the whaler's smile. No indeed, he thought. I'm not the same Avery at all.
"It appears so, my friend," he said. "Are you in?"
This time there was no hesitation. Janx cracked his knuckles and said, "Let's go kick some ass."
