“Oh, thank you!” Avery said and bent down to hug them.
It was all I could do to hold in my laughter. The kids had taken a piece of poster board and created a picture of three flowers with tampons for petals and vibrators for stems.
“Do you like the flower pots, Mommy?” Braxton asked. “That was my idea.”
I turned to face the wall and bit down on my cheek to keep from laughing. Because the flower pots were actually unwrapped condoms.
“That was very creative, son,” Avery managed to say. “Now, both of you go on downstairs and get your shoes on. We don’t want to be late.”
As soon as they were downstairs, we both lost it. “What are we going to do? I can’t hang that in here!”
“Sure you can. Just say it’s an abstract piece,” I laughed. “Looks like it’s worth a lot of money.”
She slapped my arm as realization dawned. “Fuck! They wasted several hundred dollars! I bet my vibrators are ruined.”
I pulled her into my arms. “If it makes you feel any better, I was going to throw those out,” I said and kissed the side of her neck. “You don’t need them anymore.”
“Somehow, I knew you were going to say something like that,” she laughed.
“We’ll figure this out when we get back. Let’s go bring our girl home.”
