“You have to understand that a year ago, I didn’t have a choice. I had to go. If I would have stayed, I would have buried the entire MC in my rage. But what’s it’s turned into, in my absence, is inexcusable. Murdering those who stayed loyal to me? Threats from your own MC family... This is insane.”

“Well, Rebel, you know what they say about a house divided…” Samantha suggested. “There are a lot of guys who are loyal to you, but are too afraid to stand up.”

“I don’t need that type on my side. Shit, Trey’s scared, but he is still speaking out. I don’t need feeble men too chicken shit to stand up for themselves. My people are strong, and courageous, and stand up for each other. They don’t hide behind a figurehead.”

“Rebel, I need to know what is happening tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?” Rebel asked with a faraway look in his eyes. “Tomorrow, we attend Tug’s wake. Then I have to make an appearance at dinner at the Jordan’s residence.”

“Ugh…” Samantha replied. “That sounds like a blast.”

“Oh, yeah…” Rebel replied. With a wink, he looked at her and smiled. “Wanna gate crash with me?”

“I don’t know…” Samantha said reluctantly. “Will it piss off Kayla?”

“Oh, you know it will…” Rebel said smartly. “She will be fit to be tied.”

“Oh, good. Then it’s a date. But Rebel…”

“Don’t worry your heart over it. Just know that I have this under control. The MC’s days of plaguing Clayton unchecked are over. Sometimes… if you want to fix things, you have to make a mess. Sometimes… to protect those you love, you have to spill corrupt blood.”

The hair on Samantha’s arm stood on end. Understanding her anxiety, Rebel leaned over and pressed his lips to her forehead. “Time. Twenty-four hours from now, everything will be different. You’ll see.”
