Pauper's Desire Page 27

"Are you dumb?" Preston yelled, throwing the papers on his face. "What the fuck is that?"

Caleb trembled. Right there he literally died and could do nothing. His husband was angry and he was yelling at him.

  "I...I..."

"What can he say?" Johnny snapped. "He's nothing but a thief who is after this family's wealth."

Caleb nodded as tears of pain escaped his eyes. He had a really bad headache and the situation was not helping him at all.

"I knew it," Suzanne said, crossing her arms on her chest. "I somehow knew that that guy was not lying. And now we've just proved that he was right."

Caleb's tears flowed. The pain intensified and his headache got worse. He couldn't breathe or think properly. There was just a lot for his brain to process. At some point he even thought he'd pass out from the pain that he felt. Preston yelling at him and the comments that were coming from the family members were red hot.

"So all you wanted where my properties?" Preston yelled as more tears flooded his face. "I love you so much and you hurt me like this?"

Caleb was nodding his head as more tears flooded his face. He had no words to say to Preston which would make him calm. That was the mother of all accusations. What was he going to do now?

"I love you," Caleb cried, trying to hold Preston. Unfortunately for him Preston moved further from him.

"Love," Preston yelled. "You don't love me. You were secretly planning to get my wealth."

Preston had never experienced as much pain as he did at that time. He wanted to die. He loved Caleb and he betrayed him. That was really painful.

  "Believe..."

"Believe what?" Preston yelled, touching his head in anger. "I thought you loved me. I love you so much and...."

  "I love you," Caleb muttered.

"You don't even know the meaning of that word." Preston yelled in Caleb's face. "You could have pretended." Preston yelled. "You should have pretended to love me and it wouldn't have hurt this much. I was willing to give you all my properties. Yes," Preston furiously rubbed his face. "I was ready to give you my entire wealth because I love you. You didn't need to plot against me."

"Please," Caleb begged. "Listen to me,"

"What is there to listen," He yelled. "At least with the wealth I could have understood. What about my mother? You poisoned her without even thinking twice about it."

Caleb was in pain. He was slowly being killed.

"You planned all this from the start and when you got the opportunity, you tried to kill her." Preston added. "This is the worst pain I've ever felt," Preston cried. "You really hurt me a lot. I hate you. I hate you so much and marrying you was probably my greatest mistake."

Preston angrily stared at Caleb. He wanted to slap him and show him how much he had hurt him but he couldn't bear to do it. He really loved the boy a lot. With more tears flooding his face, Preston stormed out of the room.

"Preston!" George shouted as he followed him out of the room.

Caleb couldn't do anything. He felt like his heart had been pierced. He was weak, too weak to do anything. His heart stopped beating for a second and when it did he felt like poisonous blood was running through his veins making his whole body hurt. What had he done that someone would want to hurt him like that?

He was now like a zombie. He couldn't move but he felt the warm tears pouring on his face making him cry even more. His husband had just told him that marrying him was the biggest mistake of his life. There was nothing as painful as that.

He knew it was gonna take a long time to heal his heart. He knew his husband was now further apart from him. Things had been okay just a few hours ago and now they were worse. Caleb was defeated. There was nothing he was gonna do in order to bring it back or make the pain go away. It was just too much.

"You are nothing but a curse to this family," Suzanne said. "I wish my brother had married William."

Suzanne stormed out and Caleb cried some more. What Suzanne had just told him didn't even hurt. He had experienced the worst pain ever so nothing they told him was any painful. He just cried right there as they watched him.

"If you have any shame left," Johnny snapped, bringing his hands together. "Please. Leave our house. I think my brother has experienced more pain with you. You are worse than the worst. Aren't you ashamed at all?"

Caleb was stationary. He had heard worse. His mind was plugged off and he was in intense pain.

"First you tried to kill his mother," Johnny snapped. "Then you tried to steal his wealth. Please, leave this house so that we can live in peace."

Johnny looked at him, yearning to slap him but he couldn't do it. He stormed out of the room with his wife. Now all that remained was Janice, Caroline, granny and William.

Without saying a word to him they all just left and he was now alone in the room. It felt cold and quiet. That was the place where all his good memories with Preston had started and now they were sad memories. It was really painful.

Caleb felt the mother of all pains take over. His knees felt weak, his body spasm in pain and his heart was hurting. How did they become like that? How did things get like that? The only thing that he wanted was to just die right there. Maybe all the pain would go away after he dies.

Caleb felt really weak that his strength left him. His body was giving up on him and he was dumbstruck. He fell on the floor and began crying. He cried so much thinking about how his life hard turned out to be. Whoever was doing that to him had defeated him. He was now a loser.

"Preston!" Caleb gave out a loud, painful scream that filled the whole room.

He had never been hurt like that before. He cried of pain, anguish and failure.

He sat on that cold floor and cried like never before. Tears were flooding his face and his headache was getting worse by the second. The only thing that was heard in the room was sounds of his painful sobs.

Caleb cried and cried and cried. He didn't want to stop. He just wanted to cry himself to death. Maybe the pain would be gone.

Preston had his leg on the accelerator and he was driving at top speed. Suddenly something made him hit the break, almost sending him out the windscreen. He was lucky he was stopped by his seat belt. He had no idea he was even wearing that seatbelt.

He quickly unbuckled the seat belt and got out of the car. Tears had already flooded his face and the pain had just gone from bad to worse. His head was on fire and his strength had left him long ago. He got out, had his hands on his thighs and screamed out in pain. It was on the road but he didn't care.

He just wanted to scream the pain out which by the way was not working. Realizing that nothing was working for him, Preston slowly knelt on the ground, dropped his head and cried. He cried of pain, betrayal, anger and love.

Those things were making him cry. He had loved, married and made Caleb his life partner only to find out that the guy had a motive? It was really painful. He didn't care who the hell saw him crying on the road. He didn't even care if the president himself passed there and saw him crying. He had to cry it out. It was just too much.

Preston held the sand in his hands and beat his hands hard on the ground. He wanted that pain released before he went crazy. He didn't like the way he was feeling.

"Why?" Preston screamed, sobbing so badly. "Why did you betray me like this? I loved you...I did," He sobbed. "I love you so much."

Preston couldn't do it anymore. His heart was on fire and he had no idea whether he was sweating or it was just the tears that travelled all the way to his chest. All that he felt was pain, intense pain that would make any man weak no matter how strong he was.

He sat on that road and cried to himself. He was a fool for loving and trusting that Caleb loved him. If only he could turn back time. Of all the people that had to hurt him why would it have to be Caleb? Maybe if he had followed his mother's decision he wouldn't have been hurting like that.

Preston sat and cried on that road for almost an hour. He was drawn to the pain that he
didn't even hear the screeching of a car nearby. The only thing he felt were two hands slowly holding his shoulders. He looked weakly and saw George looking at him with tears in his eyes. It was clear that his best friend was in pain too.

"Why?" Caleb cried. "Why did he have to do this to me?"

"Shh," George whispered, bringing his head closer to his chest.

Preston got the hint and he buried his head in George's chest, clenching on his shirt furiously. Then he broke down and cried his heart out. Every tear that fell from his eyes was burning his skin with pain and torture. He cried like a little child right there on the road.

Seeing Preston' condition made George's eyes to water. He had not seen his best friend looking like that before. He had just mended his relationship with Caleb and now this. George was mad at Caleb for this but his heart was telling him that something was going on. He believed Caleb was not guilty of all the allegations but right then his friend needed him the most.

"Please, let's go," George said, feeling extremely bad for his friend. "We need to leave from here."

"No," Preston sobbed and he took more of George's shirt in his hands. "I just wanna cry. I don't wanna go home."

"It's okay," George sighed. "I'll not take you home. I'll take you to a place where you'll be able to cry, let it all out, scream and cry some more. That place will make you calm too,"

"No," Preston cried. "I love him so much. "

"I know," George sobbed. "I know you do."

Preston cried some more. He felt better in George's chest and he eventually stopped crying. The pain was still much but he stopped crying. He knew it was a pain that he was gonna have to carry for the rest of his life. He needed to move on. He couldn't just stay like that.

But he couldn't forget Caleb either, He cried. He could still see his wonderful kisses, love making and making out. Was that all a lie? They seemed so real and that fucking hurt. Caleb had been leading him on after all. Why didn't he realize it sooner?

His heart was weeping and it was bleeding. He just wanted to cry it out and forget about everything that had happened.

  ****

Caleb had been sitting on that floor crying for so many hours. He could tell it was dark but the tears couldn't stop flowing. His eyes were swollen from crying and the pain kept on increasing each second. He felt like he'd been struck by lighting and burned alive. If only there was a way all that pain could go away but there just wasn't any way.

He tried to stand up but his strength failed him. He felt weak and helpless without Preston. Preston had never said something so painful. He was always a sweet husband and now Caleb didn't even know what his husband had turned into.

He couldn't stay like that. He needed to talk to Preston and try to explain things to him. He needed to know if his husband was willing to give him a chance to make their lives a little better.

Realizing all that he had to do, Caleb gathered his strength and got up. He rubbed his tears slowly, glanced at the clock and got the surprise of his life. He couldn't believe he'd been sitting in that room, crying nonstop for more than eight hours. He had no seen Preston since and it was kinda hurting him like crazy.

He figured he didn't need to face anyone at that moment so he sat at the edge of the bed waiting and hoping Preston could come back quickly. He knew his husband was probably crying somewhere but he just hoped when he comes home they'd be able to sort things. Preston loved him and that was what was important to him. Nothing else mattered.

He sat on that bed for like ages. The pain was increasing and every beat was like torture. Waiting for so long made him feel sad and was at the verge of crying. A tear fell down his cheek but he quickly rubbed it and took a deep painful breath that made his whole body ache.

He sat there for almost an hour before...the door flung open. He looked at the door and saw Preston standing there, sad, hopeless and furious. His eyes were red and he was shaking terribly. He was staring at Caleb as if he wanted to kill him. That sent shivers down Caleb's spine. He had no idea if he'd survive if at all Preston decided to beat him up.

Preston was furious. Seeing the boy on that bed just made him reach his maximum. He felt adrenaline rushing to his entire body and suddenly it was hot. He was filled with a lot of energy, clenching his fists. He was dying of making that boy pay.

He held the door in his hand and forcefully closed it which made the floor itself shake. Clenching his fists he began walking to the bed. Each step made him angrier and the more he stared the more he wanted to beat Caleb up.

He got closer, ready to beat Caleb to a pulp. Yes, that was what he was going to do. His jaws were shaking terribly and he felt hot. As he got ready to raise his fist he felt a certain force in his body. Then he realized that he couldn't do it. He couldn't hurt Caleb no matter what he had done.

It was really hurting but the best to do was avoiding him and probably forget about him. He changed his direction and was now heading to the other side of the bed. He needed to rest his head after a long and painful day. Had it not been for George taking him to the beach he wouldn't have definitely felt a little better. He would have killed himself and end it all.

Caleb saw Preston' pain. That was the same pain that he was feeling. He didn't like seeing him like that and avoiding him was probably the best idea. But...he couldn't do it. He needed to talk to him before things got out of hand.

Caleb quickly stood up and looked at Preston who was getting ready to go under the covers.

"I need to talk to you." He said softly.

Preston felt so much pain when he heard Caleb's voice. It was like voice was torturing him emotionally. The pain was unbearable.

Instead of saying something he continued getting ready for bed. He didn't need to talk to Caleb at all. Not after finding out a painful truth about him. He didn't even need to see that face which made him fume. Things had been great in the morning and now he was experiencing the worst pain ever.

Preston heard Caleb's footsteps get closer and he began seething. If Caleb got any closer he'd do something bad to him.

  "I said I...."

"What?" Preston seethed, looking angrily at Caleb.

  "I said..."

"I heard you." Preston grumbled, holding back his anger. "Can't I get some peace? I don't want to talk to you...ever."

Caleb was hurt but he couldn't do what Preston was saying. He needed to talk to him.

  "Please..."

"I said I don't wanna talk." Preston snapped, raising his hand to slap Caleb.

He suddenly withdrew and hit punches on the bed angrily. He was growling, panting and screaming. He didn't want to see Caleb in that room because he had no idea what he would do to him.

"Get out!" Preston growled. "I don't wanna see you."

Caleb didn't want to leave. He had no idea how he would make Preston calm so he took a step of courage and slowly lowered his hand on his husband. He touched him on the back and suddenly he was furiously slammed to the wall, hitting his back violently, it hurt. When he looked he saw Preston staring at him, panting and shaking. His eyes were red and filled with anger and veins were popping on his face.

Something scared him even more. Preston had his fist directed at his face and it got him scared at worried. It was clear he wasn't gonna survive that. Preston had never acted like that before and that only showed Caleb that he was deeply hurt.

Then he saw the fist flying to his face and he closed his eyes shut, his heart pounding in his chest. He was ready to receive the pain that was gonna come. If it was gonna make Preston any better he was ready to do it all for him.

Then he heard his husband roaring angrily and a noise that was loud. Preston had hit something hard for sure and it was not him. Caleb opened his eyes and saw his husband panting with his fist on the wall. Preston had hit the wall and not him. Maybe he still loved him.

  "Preston,"

"Get out!" Preston growled, breathing so violently.

That was it. Caleb didn't want to make his husband anymor
e upset. He felt warm tears running down his cheeks and he covered his mouth, looked at his husband one more time and he rushed out the room. If he stayed there any time longer he'd never survive the night.

Preston cried after Caleb left. He had never been hurt like that. On one hand he was yearning to be with Caleb and on the other he wanted to hurt him so much. He was confused, sad, angry and hurt. There was nothing else to do but cry and that's exactly what he did.

He slowly knelt on the floor and let the pain take over his life. He began crying again as the pain hit him this time harder.

The warm tears that were coming out of his eyes were somehow making him a little better. He knew he was gonna cry for a long time.
