Maybe We Will (Silver Harbor) Page 19

by Melissa Foster

  No wonder I’m nervous.

His arms circled her from behind as she unlocked the door. He lavished the back of her neck with tantalizing kisses, heightening her anticipation. She didn’t want to move for fear of him stopping. She closed her eyes, her hand stilling on the doorknob.

“The sooner we get inside,” he said in a low, sexy voice, “the sooner I get to make you feel good all over.”

She felt his body heat from shoulder to heel, his arousal temptingly hard against her bottom, as he reached around her to open the door, sending pinpricks of desire to all her best places. She dropped her things on the table, her hands trembling. Aiden closed the door and turned her in his arms. He gazed deeply into her eyes the way he had when they were dancing, like she was the only thing he saw. The only thing he wanted to see—and devour. Lord help her, because that look made her knees weaken, and the excruciatingly passionate kiss that followed made her entire body smolder.

Dizzy with desire, she took his hand and led him through the living room. They kissed on the way upstairs, which made her hotter and more nervous in equal measure. Before they reached the landing, he crushed her to him, taking her in a penetrating kiss that had her moaning and writhing against him, obliterating her trepidation. When their lips parted, his all-seeing eyes searched hers, and his slow grin told her that easing her nerves had been his intention. Aiden had all the right moves, and she couldn’t wait to reciprocate.

He reclaimed her mouth as they stumbled up to the landing, down the hall, and into her bedroom. She reached for the buttons on his shirt, but he grabbed her wrist and shook his head. “We already experienced fast and furious, my beautiful girl.” He lifted her hand and kissed her palm. “Now I get to enjoy pleasuring, tasting, and cherishing you.”

He cradled her face between his hands, taking her in another deep, toe-curling kiss. Her entire body caught fire. He made a sinful, appreciative sound and said, “I adore kissing you.” He brushed his thumb over her lower lip, his eyes dark as night. “One day soon I look forward to feeling your mouth on the rest of me. But tonight it’s my turn.”

The breath rushed from her lungs in a needy “Yes.”

No man had ever talked to her like that before, and she was surprised by how much she loved it, which was almost as much as she enjoyed the pleasure rising in his eyes. He kissed her again, taking his time stripping off her shirt, caressing and kissing her shoulders and neck so tenderly, her breathing shallowed. He dragged his gaze down her torso, leaving a hot trail of goose bumps in its wake.

“You’re so damn gorgeous.” He cupped her breast, brushing his thumb over the peak. His hungry eyes held hers as he said, “I’m going to enjoy every inch of you.” He lowered his mouth a whisper away from hers, rolling her nipple between his finger and thumb, and said, “Making you come in ways you never thought possible.”

He squeezed her nipple, and she gasped at the rivers of heat it caused. His mouth came coaxingly down over hers, kissing her painfully slow and impossibly intense. His hands pushed into her hair and fisted, causing a scintillating sting that twined together with the excruciating heat of their kisses, making her tremble and ache with anticipation. His mouth left hers in a series of tender kisses, each one making her beg for more, but he stripped off her bra and loved her breasts with his mouth, licking and sucking so perfectly, she felt it between her legs.

  “Aiden . . .”

She grabbed his head, holding his mouth there, his every suck taking her closer to the edge. He moved one hand between her legs, stroking her through her pants, and good Lord, she was caught up in too many sensations. She couldn’t stop the moans streaming from her lips. His hand tightened in her hair as he feasted on her breast and continued creating the most delicious friction down below. She squeezed her thighs together to keep her climax at bay, but that only spurred him on to intensify his efforts, and intensify he did—all over, sending her careening into an explosive orgasm. She grabbed at his hair, his shoulder, anywhere she could reach to counter her useless legs, gasping and crying out as pleasure consumed her.

She clung to him, coming down from her high like a leaf in the wind, sailing fast, then drifting slow, trying to catch her breath. Embarrassment attempted to push its way in, but he wrapped her in his arms and whispered, “So beautiful,” giving it no room to take hold.

He reclaimed her mouth, possessive and the slightest bit rough, kissing her so thoroughly, holding her so lovingly, she felt precious and safe. He kissed her until her breathing calmed, and then he stripped her bare, lavishing her with sweet whispers and tender touches. She helped him take off his clothes, getting all revved up again at the sight of his gorgeous naked body. He drew her into his strong arms, skin to skin, his thick cock nestled against her belly, and a longing, desperate sigh left his lungs, as if he’d been waiting forever to feel her naked body against his.

He held her with one arm around her waist, the other across her upper back, so close not even air could get through, and said, “God, Abs. We feel so right.”

She wanted to tell him she felt the same, but the emotions in his voice, his now-familiar masculine scent, and the tenderness and strength in his touch were all too much. It was all she could do to make an affirmative sound. He kissed her again, slow and sweet. But their passion took over, turning the kiss urgent and greedy as he led her to the bed. He tore back the blankets and laid her down, taking a long, lascivious look at her. He made an appreciative sound, his eyes shining with pure, unadulterated lust, as he retrieved his wallet from his pants, withdrew two condoms, and set them on the nightstand.

“I don’t know if I should praise you for thinking ahead or be offended that you brought three condoms with you when you picked me up this morning.”

“You should definitely go with praise.” He came down over her and said, “I knew being with you once would never be enough.” He began kissing his way down her body. “I’ve got the rest of the box in the car.”

She opened her mouth to respond, but his hands and mouth were everywhere at once, caressing and devouring her breasts, her ribs, her hips, working their way lower, and her thoughts scrambled. Her eyes closed, and she reveled in his strong grip on her hips, his mouth nipping and kissing along her thighs, his whispered words of appreciation making her want him even more. He trailed openmouthed kisses along her inner thighs, coming so close to where she needed him most, she held her breath. Her nerves sparked like live wires, sizzling beneath his tongue. She rocked her hips, and he spread his hands over her thighs, licking so close to her sex, a needy moan escaped.

“Aiden, please.” She looked down, and his eyes locked on hers, the pleasure in them as bold as his stare as he slid his tongue over her most sensitive nerves. “Oh God.” Her head fell back, and he did it again. She fisted her hands in the sheets as he continued licking and teasing, until she was moaning and trembling.

“So much sweetness,” he said huskily, dragging his tongue along her sex.

He sealed his mouth over her sex, loving her there the way he’d kissed her, deep, slow, intense. She dug her heels into the mattress, and he lifted her bottom, using his mouth on the apex of her sex as he pushed his fingers inside her, stroking over the spot that made her lose all sense of time and place. She was caught in a web of arousal as he fucked her with his fingers and loved her with his mouth. She arched and writhed, inhaling through gritted teeth as he quickened his efforts, sucking the oversensitive bundle of nerves into his mouth. Zings of pleasure ricocheted through her, shredding her control. Her hips bucked, her sex pulsed, and she cried out, but he didn’t relent. He homed in on the secret spot inside her, lingering there, teasing over it, every stroke sending her soaring anew, until a tsunami of pleasure tore through her and her entire body arched, and she collapsed, trembling and sated, to the mattress.

His hands slid up her waist and torso, holding her tight, reassuringly, making her feel adored and safe as he kissed her thighs and hips, whispering, “I’ve got you, babe.”

sp; He kissed his way unhurriedly up her body, and then his mouth found hers. He tasted of sex and sinful pleasures, and she wanted it all. The head of his cock rested temptingly against her center. Her body ached to shift lower, to feel him inside her. “I need you,” she begged against his lips, and the growl it earned sent fire through her veins.

He reared up on his knees, his eyes never leaving hers as he tore open the condom and sheathed his length. When he came down over her, aligning their bodies, he kissed her softer and gazed entrancingly into her eyes. The way he looked at her sent lightning through her chest, their connection as overpowering as it was reassuring. He pushed his arms beneath her, holding her like she was precious, and in his arms, she truly felt she was. She lifted her hips, taking in every glorious inch of him, sending shock waves rippling through her core. Passion glowed in his eyes as he lowered his mouth to hers, and they began to move, finding the rhythm that carried them away to a secret place full of warmth and passion where only they existed. Their bodies took over, moving to a frenetic beat. She felt the claws of an orgasm grasping for purchase. Her head fell back, and Aiden grabbed her hips, pressing her into the mattress as he thrust deeper, faster, his dark eyes as lost in them as she was. Her mouth fell open and her eyes slammed shut as her climax engulfed her. She writhed and whimpered, her body shuddering beneath him, as he came undone, gritting out a curse as his release claimed him. His body jerked and thrust, his arms squeezing her so tight, she felt every pulse of his cock. Nothing had ever felt so good.

When Aiden’s head dipped beside hers, his body jolting with aftershocks, he kissed her cheek between heavy breaths and whispered, “Jesus, Abs.”

They lay together until their breathing calmed, and then he took care of the condom. She used the bathroom, and when she returned, she found him sitting on the edge of her bed, naked, one elbow leaning on his leg, his hand shielding his eyes. She got a little nervous, not wanting him to leave. It was crazy how little time they’d known each other and how close she felt to him. She never would have believed it if it weren’t happening to her.

“Come here, beautiful.” He reached for her, guiding her between his legs, and embraced her, resting his cheek against her breasts. She ran her hands through his hair, and he pulled her down onto his lap. He kissed her tenderly and brushed her wild hair away from her face, too many emotions gazing back at her to decipher. “I’m a greedy bastard with you, Abs. I want to fall asleep with you in my arms and wake up that way.”

“Yay for me,” she said, wiggling her shoulders.

“God, Abs.” His brow furrowed, but he was smiling, and it was such a complex, fitting look for who he was. “You are everything I never knew I needed.”

She scooped up that little golden gift and tucked it away as she said, “Stay with me.”

“You’ve had a lot of AA today. You sure you don’t want me out of your hair?”

“I want you in my hair.” She touched her lips to his and said, “And in other places, too. Get your naked butt in my bed, greedy boy.”

He tossed her onto her back on the mattress and rolled over her, grinning like the greedy boy he was. “Careful what you wish for, sweetheart. This greedy man is ready for seconds.”

  CHAPTER ELEVEN

AIDEN HAD ALWAYS been a creature of habit, up with the sun and armed for work. Even as a boy he’d gotten up early seven days a week. He could still remember his father’s serious eyes lighting up when he would pad into the kitchen in his pajamas and climb onto a chair beside him at daybreak, ready to learn anything his father had to offer. Dad, why not read the paper when you get home at night instead of getting up early to read it? His father had a habit of sitting back and looking him in the eye every time Aiden asked him a question, giving him his undivided attention. Aiden prided himself on learning that trait at an early age—giving everyone who crossed his path the same level of respect, no matter who they were. His father’s voice walked confidently through his mind. Because you never start a race from the back of the pack. He’d set the newspaper on the table and leaned closer to Aiden, his smile softening his features as he’d lowered his voice and said, And evenings are reserved for the thing that matters most: family.

Aiden had gone years without thinking of those memories, but he didn’t need to look far to know why his parents and the life he’d once imagined for himself had been on his mind a lot more lately. She was sleeping naked and safe in his arms, her cheek resting on his chest, and she was making the cutest snoring sounds he’d ever heard. She didn’t wear her heart on her sleeve just when she was awake. It was right there in her peaceful expression as she slept. No part of him wanted to get up, much less read a newspaper or work a new deal. That should scare the life out of him. Hell, his inability to leave her last night should have sent him running for the mainland. She was not only stirring memories, but she was also causing him to take a good hard look at who he was and what he wanted in his life.

Abby snorted so loud, she startled herself awake. She looked around, probably trying to figure out what had caused the noise.

  “Morning, gorgeous.”

“Hey, you,” she said sleepily. “What are you grinning at?”

  “Your adorable snoring.”

  “I don’t snore.”

“You absolutely snore, but it’s cute. It’s kind of a grunting-snorting sound followed by a contented hum.”

“Ohmygosh.” She buried her face in the side of his chest.

“I take it your ex never mentioned it to you?”

She opened the one eye he could see and said, “I’m not talking to you about some other guy while we’re naked.”

“Good, because I’d like to pretend that no other man came before me. No pun intended.”

“That’s my game plan with you and other women.”

“Babe, nobody could hold a candle to my snorting girl.”

She made an appalled sound. “I seriously do not snort.”

He rolled her onto her back and moved over her, kissing her freckled cheek. “It’s okay, Abs. I like your snort-snoring and the contented little hum that comes afterward.”

“I don’t do that. And I don’t snort.” She laughed.

“You definitely snort.” He kissed her lips. “You also grabbed my junk in your sleep. Not that I’m complaining.”

  “I did not!”

“Why do you think we ended up making love again at two in the morning? You were working me like a stick shift. Thank God I thought ahead and ran out to the car to get the box of condoms after the second time we fooled around.”

Her cheeks flamed, but her smile never faltered. “Oh my . . . You’re terrible.”

“That’s not what you were crying out last night as you—”

“Stop!” She wrapped her arms around him.

“Why? You don’t like it when I talk about you coming?” He nuzzled against her neck, kissing her there.

“Aiden,” she said, her voice thick with embarrassment.

He dragged his scruff along her cheek, earning a sexy moan. “I like when you come.” He nipped at her earlobe and said, “I like hearing the noises you make.”

  “Stop,” she said breathily.

He trailed kisses down her body, teasing her breasts.

“God, I love when you do that.” She grabbed his head as she had last night, holding him there as he taunted her into a wiggling, needy mess. She pushed him lower, her hips rising to greet his talented mouth.

His eyes shot up to hers, and he said, “And I fucking love when you do that.” He raked his eyes down her body, between her legs, and said, “Mm. Breakfast.”

Her knees fell open, and he gave her what she wanted, earning all the sexy sounds he adored. Then he loved her with his body, slowly and passionately, until they were both too satisfied and worn out to move.

After a lazy, sensual morning, they hung up the hammock, filled the shells they’d collected with birdseed, and set them out on the porch. Abby looked gorgeous in jeans and the tank top
he’d bought her, with an open zip-up sweatshirt over it. They rode their bikes to the Silver House so he could change his clothes, and then they biked to the Sweet Barista, where Keira and Abby chatted up a storm. When Keira said she liked a man who knew coffee, Abby glanced at him and said she liked a man who savored his breakfast. The sexy little minx knew exactly how to turn him on.

After eating breakfast, they biked to the Bistro to work on the budgets, checking off bike ride from their list. Aiden hadn’t ridden a bike since he was a kid. He’d forgotten how rejuvenating it was to feel fresh air whipping against his skin instead of stale air-conditioning within the confines of his car.

“It’s really beautiful here,” he said as they made their way around to the front of the restaurant and were greeted by a cool breeze coming off the water. He stepped off the patio into the sand and sat down. “Come sit with me. Let’s enjoy the view for a few minutes before we get started.”

“You’re really good at taking time to enjoy your surroundings.” As she sat beside him, she said, “Are you sure you’re a workaholic?”

“Absolutely. You heard Remi. But I’ve got this new woman in my life who’s changing me in more ways than I’d like to admit.” He put his arm around her, pulling her against him. “She’s even got me riding a bike, which I haven’t done since I was a kid.”

“That was fun riding together this morning. Did you rent the bike daily, or weekly?”
